~Liv

The moment we stepped inside, I forgot all about the creaking dock. The yacht’s interior was every shade of indulgence gleaming floors of dark wood polished so fine they caught the shimmer of chandelier light, champagne buckets filled with ice that sparkled like diamonds, and curved leather lounges tucked along the sides. A glass staircase arched to the upper deck, catching the reflection of golden light and city glitter off the waves. Everywhere I looked, people glittered too designer dresses, sharp suits, champagne glasses tilted in laughter.

“VIP everywhere,” Sophie whispered at my side, looping her arm through mine. “But this…” she pointed toward the glass railed stairs where our host was waving us over, “this is VIP VIP.”

We followed, heels clicking, laughter bubbling between us, and were ushered to a lounge on the upper deck. It was quieter here, more refined the music still pulsed but lower, velvet seating curved in elegant circles, and the panoramic windows gave the il

The applause faded into a low hum as Tariq wrapped up his speech. My heels ached, my cheeks hurt from polite smiling, and my head buzzed from the endless camera flashes. One more handshake, one more “You did so well, sir,” and maybe I could finally disappear into a soft couch somewhere.Tariq stood beside Jace, exchanging pleasantries with a few dignitaries. Even from where I stood, I could tell Jace didn’t do crowds often. His posture was too precise, his answers too measured, like every word was weighed before leaving his lips.“Ladies and gentlemen,” Marcus’s voice cut through the chatter, loud enough to draw attention. “Since it’s almost impossible to get this man—” he gestured toward Jace “out of the office, I say we make tonight count. Drinks, anyone?”Carter laughed. “You mean you need an excuse to drink.”“Maybe,” Marcus grinned, “but come on. It’s rare we all breathe the same air outside the boardroom. Let’s go somewhere loud and sinful.”Tariq sighed, the type of sigh t

~Tessa~ I stood up, brushing off imaginary dust from my dress. “We should probably head back,” I said, my voice lighter than I felt. “I’ve escaped long enough, and technically, this is my office event.”He glanced at me, one brow arched. “You work with Tariq?”I blinked, a little surprised he knew the name. “Yes, Mr. Tariq is my employer,” I said quickly, trying to sound professional even though we were both half-lit by the amber glow of the car’s dashboard lights. Then, almost without thinking, I added, “Hopefully, I get to work with them permanently.”He gave me that unreadable look again one of those slow, assessing glances that made me wish I’d kept my mouth shut. I tried to laugh it off. “I mean, I’m just an intern. My fingers are crossed I pray get retained.”He nodded once, a small curve ghosting his lips. “Oh,” he said quietly. “What are the odds?”The drive back was different this time quiet but not awkward. The kind of silence that hums with everything unsaid. No music,

JACE’S POV Tariq had been talking about this charity ball for weeks. Actually, reminding us was the better word. Every morning, the group chat pinged with something new from him “Don’t be late.” “Dress code is black tie.” “Marcus, no sneakers this time.” Carter, of course, being the tech genius he was, set a reminder in the group chat called ‘Tariq’s Nagging Hour.’ By the third ping, Leo had dropped a meme of someone being dragged to an event by force. I laughed, but honestly? I’d been thinking about skipping it. My desk was a crime scene stacks of contracts, unfinished drafts, emails begging for signatures. The kind of mess that whispered, ‘just stay home and work.’ But then, Marcus showed up. In person. At my office door. “Don’t even think about it,” he said, leaning against the doorframe with that smug grin. “Think about what?” I asked, pretending to be deep in a file. “About ghosting the ball. Tariq said, and I quote, ‘if Jace doesn’t show up, I’m replacing him with

~Liv~ My phone buzzed sometime past midnight.Unknown number. But I knew who it was before I even picked up.I rolled onto my side and smiled into the pillow before answering. “You’re late.”“Or maybe,” Tariq’s voice came through, smooth but a little tired, “you just sleep too early.”“I was up,” I said, pretending to yawn dramatically. “Had a date with my thoughts. You interrupted.”He chuckled, low and easy. “You’re welcome. So… did you at least think about me?”“Wow, confident much?”“Just curious,” he said. “It’s not every day I get called fine by someone who clearly meant irresistible.”I laughed out loud. “You’re ridiculous.”“And yet, you picked up.”Touché.We talked. About everything and nothing. How he once spilled wine on a model during Fashion Week. How I once walked into a glass door because I thought it was automatic. He called me “chaotic elegance.” I told him that wasn’t a real phrase. He said he just made it one. Then somehow, we started debating whether cereal coun

~Tessa~The elevator chimed softly, and the silver doors slid open into a space that felt like it had stepped straight out of a magazine spread.Marble floors. Gold rimmed mirrors. Mannequins dressed in half finished designs standing like silent guards.Riri nudged my arm lightly. “We’re really here,” she whispered, half laughing, half in awe.I smiled, though my stomach was a tangle of nerves. “You mean we as in “they actually picked us?’”Ahead, a sleek woman in her early thirties, dressed in an all black jumpsuit and red heels, waited for the new interns.“Good morning, everyone,” she began crisply. “Welcome to T Fashion House. I’m Nora. You’ll be working under me for the next three months. That means you’ll learn, you’ll run errands, you’ll cry but you’ll also grow.”Soft laughter filled the room. Ten of us in total, including Riri and I . A small, bright group of dreamers with notebooks clutched to their chests and hope stitched in their eyes.Nora led them through the design flo

~Tessa- My voice was shaky. “Liv, this is Tariq. Tariq from T Fashion House. The Tariq I’ve been talking about for months!” Liv frowned, confused. “Wait, like… the fashion house? The one you recently sent an emails to?” “Yes!” Tessa shouted, half thrilled, half exasperated. “And you were casually talking to him last night like he’s just some random T!” Liv snatched the card back, staring at it properly for the first time. The embossed silver logo shimmered under the morning light. “Oh.” “Oh?” I repeated, incredulous. “That’s all you have to say?” Liv shrugged, still dazed. “I didn’t even know him. But it was a good conversation.” Sophie snorted. “Classic Liv, meets a literal fashion mogul and says ‘oh.’” I shook my head, but there was a small smile tugging at my lips. “Well, since you already enjoyed talking to him, don’t ruin it by acting starstruck now. Just… be you.” Before Liv could answer, Zara’s voice broke in. “Ladies, our ride’s outside. Let’s move before the driver l
