LOGIN"Wh...What are you saying, Caleb?"
Abigail sat back on her bed with shock while her body got frozen for a moment in disbelief.
Her eyes turned bloodshot and tears almost ran down to her cheeks.
Her heart completely shattered at this moment.
She couldn't believe in her ears what she just heard from Caleb. He wanted her to marry the casino's owner in exchange for his home and money. Moreover, he has already accepted the deal! He sold her to an unknown big boss to save his neck. He sold her love, her care, herself to some random person for his own selfishness, and now advised her to accept this marriage. Marry the stranger and support him. How the hell doesn't she feel sad, upset, broken, and betrayed right now.
"Eva, Please…" Caleb knelt in front of her and held her hands.
"Please think about it."
"If you...If you agree to marry him. He will forgive our debt and give me money to open my new business."
"Then what about me?" Her eyes turned sharp as she looked at him with anger. She never thought the person she loved most in this life would do something like this disheartening to her.
Caleb's eyelashes flickered, as silence took place. He knew the thing he was asking from her was cruel.
His silence made Abigail angrier, she stood from her bed and halted his hands from her.
"Tell me, Caleb!"
"Then what about me?"
"What about us?"
"Abi...Please listen…" Caleb tried to speak but the words were cut by her in the middle as rage-filled in her body.
"Forget the shake...give me an answer first!!" She yelled and bent to hold his collars tightly to make him look at her in the eyes.
"Tell me, Caleb! What about our love?" She threw questions while her body almost shook up with anger. Her lips trembled with fury. Her eyes turned blurry because of tears.
"Listen Abi…" He held arms that were still clinching on his collar tightly.
"I think this is the right choice for both of us. If we don't accept their deal. They are going to kill us or could make us homeless and I don't want to face that situation or let my parents face it or suffer from it…" His face turned serious as he looked at her with a serious gaze.
"So, you can sell me for you and your family profit? I'm not your family?" Abigail's hands lose her grips from his collars while tears escaped from her eyes. She felt like she was talking to some stranger. He is not the one she falls for. He is not the one whom she admired from her childhood and dream to become a bride.
Her face had almost lost its color to listen to every single word coming from his mouth which turned out to be not sweet like before but felt poisonous to her.
Caleb never saw her reacting like this before. So, he showed that he couldn't digest her words or questions. But the reality is he didn't have any answer for her in the first place.
"Tell me, Caleb!"
She gritted her teeth, almost feeling frustrated to look at his gutless face. Caleb felt impatient as he tried to speak.
"Abi...It's not like that! You are also my family and see my parents raised you when there is no one beside you...when you are just an Oprah"
Abigail's eyes turned dull to hear this while he added, "They give you food, shelter, education, a good life, and more than that a family which you always wanted…"
Hearing the 'Family' word she could only laugh at herself. The family she got never accepted her for all of these past years.
The family who gave her food to eat, also threw a disgusting look whenever she asked for extra plates.
The family who gave her a roof to sleep in, also counting the days to get her money, then threw her out from their life.
Other than that, the person she finally thought of as family, is the one who sold her for artificial things. He chooses everyone except her!
She doesn't think someone could break her more than this. The feeling she's getting right now or facing right now. The person she believed closed eyes, deceived her, broke her, made her fall apart so she could never get along again.
"They never asked you to pay for that until now! Moreover, about your dad's savings, after I ask them to stop questioning about it. They didn't bring up the money thing again. Can't you see how much they do for you these whole past years?" Caleb's eyes turned serious.
"They never expect anything from you, Abigail...but can't you just do this marriage for them and for me? Can't you help us at least for the last time? Can't you pay for their whole past years bringing up to you!" He moved towards her and held her shoulders just to look at her with a straight gaze.
Abigail felt foolish to hear him. He just wanted her to pay back for his parent's care for the whole of these past years. He wants a price from her.
This bitter feeling made her chuckle painfully the next moment and looked at him with a disgusted glare before counter-attacking him.
"So, you are asking for me to pay by selling myself to your debt collector!"
Caleb felt tight-lipped for a second and again tried to talk back.
"Abi...I just…"
"Enough!"
Before Caleb could say more, Erma came inside the room with her husband angrily and shouted between them.
"Mom!" Caleb's eyes moved to his mom.
Abigail coldly looked at both husband-wife without any feelings.
Erma's eyes glared at Abigail and moved her steps inside her room.
"That's enough son! You don't need to talk to her sweetly anymore!" She arrogantly shouted while her eyes moved from her son to Abigail with fury.
However, Caleb still doesn't want his mom to speak so, he tries to talk back.
"Mom...You don't need to come! I'm trying to explain to her…" He moved to his mom.
"Yes… we saw and heard it...what you talked about!" She raised her brows with anger while Dale also made the same expression and looked at his son with the same frustrated face.
Caleb felt lips tighten at this moment.
"We both heard your soft tone talk with her, Son!" Dale stared at Abigail sharply while adding, "However, she is just too stubborn and can't be dealt with in a soft way!"
Abigail didn't flinch or scared to listen to their arrogant words or see their sharp stares on her at all but all she got turned more hateful towards them.
Her eyes glared at the whole family coldly. While the love she felt a few hours ago now vanished from her heart as soon as Caleb told her about the deal thing.

Abigail witnessed their silly, loving conversation and, for the first time, felt a little jealous not to have a love like theirs. Once they were on stage, people kept coming with gifts line by line, and suddenly, Abigail realised she only had a clutch in her hand. Her expression turned to one of loss as she realised she had forgotten her gift in the house."Oh God! How could I forget the gift? Now what?" She bit her lower lip nervously as she saw almost everyone end up on stage while she was empty-handed. "This is surely going to be embarrassing." She muttered with a deep sigh before something clicked in her mind, "Wait a second, I did not check the car. What if I forget that right there?" "I should have checked." She confidently thought and decided to walk out of the hall when someone noticed her leaving and grabbed her arm. "Hey, are you already leaving?" Abigail looked at the woman and instantly expressed, "No, I just forgot something outside." "Oh, Alright. Just come soon, th
Wedding Hall"Abigail! It's you!" Nataha hugged her immediately, "Girl, you turned gorgeous!" Abigail smiled happily before hugging her tightly and replied warmly, "But not more than a bride."Her words made Natasha and everyone around her chuckle. "Girl, I missed you." Natsaha broke the hug and looked over her. She smiled emotionally and nodded, "I missed you, too. Congratulations on your marriage." "Thank you, and I am glad you are here." "Thanks to you, I can attend this today." Abigail simply expressed."Alright, we should stop being emotional. I don't want to ruin my makeup." Natsha teased, making her chuckle, "That's true. So, where is your groom?" "He is right there." Natsha pointed over the group, "Let's go. I will introduce you to him, and don't be surprised when you see more schoolmates.""You mean our classmates?" She paused. "Yes, now, let's go. They were all excited as this wedding not only brought new connections but was almost like a reunion for old friends as wel
"Friend's wedding?" Byron crossed his arms as he curiously looked over Abigail, whose expression grew doubtful and uneasy even before she was rejected. "Yes, she is my schoolmate and invited me personally to attend her wedding." "I see." He simply gave a curt nod as he never thought the things made her wife happy, not another man, but another long lost friend, before asking, finally curiously, "So, what do you want from me?" He waited for her response, thinking she was nervous to ask him to attend the wedding with her. However, when she opened her mouth, his expression turned disgruntled."I want to attend it, if you don't mind." She finally expressed herself, leaving behind others' thoughts."Alone?" He questioned."Yes, but if you wish, I can take Maggy with me." She expressed her side as she nibbled her lip, thinking, What if he rejected her? Go alone. However, he surely doesn't want to hear that and asked again to confirm."Are you sure? Is that all you got to ask? And let Maggy
Gilbert Mansion"Welcome home, Master." "Welcome home, Madam."Maggy warmly smiled to see Abigail and Byron finally returning to the mansion. Byron simply nodded and entered while Abigail smiled warmly and stopped before her, "Mrs Maggy, how are you?" "I am doing fine. Thank you for asking." Maggy politely expressed, and she extended her hand in a gesture for her to get inside, "You come from a long journey. Please have some rest in your master bedroom first.""Thank you for your hard work." Abigail simply nodded and walked right beside Byron, who was walking before her. Once they entered the master bedroom, Byron changed his clothes and refreshed himself before returning to the office. Meanwhile, Abigail needed to check her email to see if she got any new mail from college. So, she simply walked over to the desk right beside the couch and put the laptop there. She sat on the sofa and opened the laptop to scroll through emails when her eyes landed on a familiar name, and her finger
"Sorry, Boss, the flight got cancelled tonight because of a thunderstorm and continued rain," Martin informed Byron over the phone. "Alright, until I get there, you keep an eye on sister's condition," Byron instructed, making him agree instantly before ending the call. He returned to the bedroom and found Abigail almost finished packing her things. He approached her and announced casually, "The flight got cancelled because of the weather. Stop doing that for now." She looked at him with slight surprise as she did not hear him enter before she ended up nodding, "Alright. I will put this bag in the corner." He hummed quietly and walked towards the bed without saying anything more, as he got an intense headache from the last night and less sleep after learning about his sister, so, as soon as he sat comfortably on the bed, crossing his legs and adjusting his back over the pillow. He fell asleep in that position without even realising. Abigail put the bag in the corner and changed in
Byron returned to the resort when he got a personal call and decided to take it before attending to Abigail."Hello, Byron, I am sorry for disturbing you late at night, but I need to tell you some bad news." The Doctor spoke in an upset tone from the other end of the phone, while Byron stood in the window, holding his cigar, which instantly flickered outside, right there, to hear that, and asked in a gloomy voice, "What happened, doctor?" "Mr Byron, your sister's health began deteriorating from last week, even though we are monitoring her almost every hour. It almost felt like her body and mind stopped helping her anymore." He hesitantly explained, but Byron had heard these kinds of things many times in the past years and dejectedly said, "Doctor, I don't care what she wants. I want her to return to me. I want my sister. Do you get it?" The doctor knew he would not take 'No' for an answer and agreed, "Mr Byron, I always try my best, and I will do that still now, but last hope, depen
