Sofia's POV

My mind drifted towards the last encounter I had with the mayor and his silly daughter, and I chucked at the thought. Of course he's going to be there, he's the mayor of the city after all.

As long they don't cross me, then we can all attend the event without any troubles.

“I just don't want anything to ruin tonight for you. It's the first charity event holding after your father's death. And I would want you to donate something really good.” My mother tapped my shoulder and said.

  • THE WIFE HE BETRAYED, THE WOMAN HE FEARS   The Return of Isabella.

Sofia's POV.My legs trembled and I shot up from the chair and stormed out of the office to see for myself what Sylvia had just explained. I dashed into the conference hall and found the executives and my uncle Ignacio seated on the CEO's chair laughing and making jest.“And what exactly is going on here?” I asked and my uncle whose smiling face was like I have never seen before pulled up from my chair and faced me. “Isn't it my favourite neice on the entire planet. Have I told you just how beautiful you are?” He asked me and walked up to me with his hands spread wide.“What is going on?” My face twisted into a frown as my eyes caught sight of the same type of document spread across the table with a pen on it. I shut my eyes feeling frustrated with my fist clenched in anger. “I don't understand what you speak of my darling niece.” My uncle pretended to be oblivious and I scoffed. How could I have been so stupid not to see the signs right in front of me. I craved the love and affe

Sofia's POVSilence dominated the atmosphere as we both stared at the man talking as though we didn't understand the language he just spoke. My eyes travelled to Mattoe who also looked at me. I woke up this morning feeling disappointed at my uncle and hoping the things I had discovered yesterday were not actually true. I had promised myself I wouldn't jump into conclusion based on a memory from years ago and hear from his side as well. And the clauses in the document regarding his investment into the company. I had hoped they were not true and I was simply mistaken just like everyone else. But with what I have just heard right now, I have no idea what to think anymore. “I'm sorry but what did you just say?” I shook my head hoping I had heard wrong. There's no way my uncle would have been the one to have orchestrated the sabotage on Mattoe. I had overheard Mattoe and the private investigator speaking the other time so I knew that was what they were talking about.“Yes ma'am, I ha

  • THE WIFE HE BETRAYED, THE WOMAN HE FEARS   Mattoe’s Confession to Himself.

Mattoe's POVThe night breeze slapping against my skin made the depression hit even deeper as I stared into the sky with a bottle of whiskey dangling in my hands. I goofed and heaved a deep sigh as I looked back at my empty apartment in which I was sitting alone late at night, staring at a bottle of whiskey I haven't touched. “Oh Sofia!” I whispered as the passionate night I had shared with Sofia replayed in my mind constantly. Despite everything that has transpired between us, I have not been able to get that moment out of my head even for a second. It's the only thought that fills my head day and night. I walked away from the window and walked back to my study area where I keep all my documents. I pulled out the lower drawer than can only be opened by me and retrieved a picture of Sofia I have kept with me for a while now. It was a photograph she took at one of the events we attended together. I had reached out to one of the photographers requesting for a copy. “Oh Sofia!” I

  • THE WIFE HE BETRAYED, THE WOMAN HE FEARS   Memory Fragment: Uncle’s Envy

Sofia's POVMy eyes jolted open to the morning sun slipping through the curtains. I yawned loudly as I finally opened my eyes, and climed down from my bed still a little sleepy. It's the weekend and I won't be going to the company at all. And even though I'm not supposed to do anything work, I can't help it. It's one of the ways I've been able to bury my head in the sand and avoid thinking about the chaos that has been happening lately. My mind drifted to Mattoe whom I have not seen or spoken to in days. And I would be lying to say I do not miss him. The argument about my uncle created a far more deeper wedge between us and it makes me even more sad. My phone beeped distracting me from my thoughts and I picked it up only to find that Slyvia has arranged my schedule for the coming week. Not wanting to continue dwelling on my thoughts, I made way to the bathroom and took my bath. I then made way to the libary where I will be attending to some files. I settled into the chair and g

  • THE WIFE HE BETRAYED, THE WOMAN HE FEARS   Lucia’s desire

Lucia's POVI paced around the room with a bottle of whisky in my hands and my fingers in my mouth as the thoughts of how to conquer Sofia in every way ravaged my mind. It's no longer news that Sofia is the one thing that has been able to keep me awake all night and yet after all these while I have not been able to do one single thing to her. “Aarrgghh!” I crashed the glass cup on the floor with my body trembling with anger. “Why won't you just die and disappear you bitch! What else must I do for you to freaking leave me the hell alone!” I yelled and grabbed the flower vase on the drawer and crashed it on the floor. I shut my eyes, trying to calm down, but Sofia's face still managed to pop up. Everything I have done to bring her down has proved abortive. “But I'm never going to give up. I'm going to make sure that I bring her down at all costs. Besides whatever it is that I want, I surely get.” I chuckled and then burst into dark laughter. The sound of the mansion gate opening u

  • THE WIFE HE BETRAYED, THE WOMAN HE FEARS   Julian’s Warning

Julian's POV.I stepped out of my car and headed inside the Estaban Global building for what seemed like the hundredth time. I held my briefcase tightly in my hands as I approached the elevator with some of the other staff in the company. “Good morning, Mr Estaban!” One of the girls in the elevator greeted me with her body thudding with excitement.“Good morning,” I greeted back without turning to look back at her. “Why do you have to greet him first? Have you forgotten he's a junior staff just like the rest of us? Some of us even have a higher rank than him.” One of the men behind me sneered and I chuckled at his words. “I think you are the one forgetting first that this so called junior staff is an Estaban. Just because he's being disciplined by the CEO now doesn't mean he has lost all power.” One of the other ladies cautioned him. “You might want to be careful with whatever it is you are saying. I'm sure he can hear us.” She added and then cleared her throat. She was about sp
