Chapter 114

Author's POV

Rhea stared at Cassian, noting the restlessness that was boldly written all over him. It was in the way his hands twitched by his side and his eyes didn't stay on hers for long. He could as well be pacing to express that.

She didn't interrupt him or force him to go faster. He needed to do it on his own. And anyway she wasn't too excited to hear what he wanted to say. It didn't elicit the same emotions as it would have a few days ago and she could feel it.

Cassian swallowed hard and decided he couldn't hold it in anymore, if he didn't say it now then he would never be able to. Just as he was about to talk, he heard the door open. The scent got to him first so he didn't turn - it was Lucian.

He kept his eyes on Rhea and he didn't feel Lucian come any closer. He was sure that Lucian already knew what he was about to do. He searched her face first for something, anything but it was a blank canvas that stared back at him.
