I open the door and the world tilts.

Luca’s mouth is on Eloise’s.

For half a second, my brain refuses to register it. It’s just shapes. Movement. A scene that doesn’t….shouldn’t be happening.

Then it snaps into focus.

His hands are on her waist. Her body is stiff.

Her hands are already pushing him away….but it doesn’t matter. I saw it. I saw enough.

That bastard, Luca! He thinks this is fucking funny?!

“Ruby….” Eloise gasps, shoving him back. “I swear, it’s not what you think…..”

I don’t hear the rest.

Something hot and sharp slices straight through my chest, and before I can stop myself, I turn around and walk away.

“Ruby, wait!” Eloise’s footsteps scramble behind me. “Please….please, Ruby, stop! I swear that’s not what it looked like!”

Behind us, Luca laughs.

He makes it loud enough for me to want to turn around and pummel his face with my fists.

I walk faster.

“Ruby!” Eloise grabs my arm.

I spin on her so fast she stumbles back.

“Don’t,” I say. My voice is terrifyin

Ruby is late. That’s the first thing I think, sitting at our usual study spot with my notebook open and my pen uncapped, tapping against the margin like it might summon her faster. The library corner we always claim is quiet, tucked between tall shelves and a wide window that lets in the afternoon light. It feels warm instead of lonely. I check my phone. One text. “Wait a little for me? Grabbing snacks. Love you” I’m halfway through rereading the same sentence for the fourth time when a shadow falls across the table. I look up, already smiling. It dies instantly. Luca. He’s standing there casually, hands in his pockets, posture relaxed.I smile at him. The little rouge that everyone keeps warning me about. “Hey,” he says. “Waiting for Ruby?” “Yes,” I answer immediately. “She’ll be here any minute.” He pulls out the chair across from me anyway and sits. “What kind of mischief have you been up to?” I ask and he chuckles.“What do you mean?”“Everyone keeps sayi

Dinner is quiet in a way that presses against my ears. The dining room is too big for just me. The chandelier hums softly above my head, casting polite light over a plate I’ve barely touched. I poke at my food more than I eat it, the clink of cutlery against porcelain sounding louder than it should. I don’t usually eat alone. Father always made sure that we ate as a family. But father and mother were not home right now. They wouldn’t be for another five days. I’m halfway through convincing myself to get up and leave when footsteps sound on the stairs. Unhurried and Confident. Familiar in the most irritating way. Luca. He comes down like he owns gravity itself, phone in hand, sleeves rolled up like he’s just finished charming someone without trying. He doesn’t look at me at first, just heads for the bar. I watch him pour himself a drink. Ice. Whiskey. Barely a pause. My grip tightens around my fork. “Did you threaten Gabrielle?” The words land cleanly. Calm and control

  • Teach me to sin II (Sins of the past)   157: Lindsay’s POV

The rain taps softly against the glass ceiling above the indoor patio, a slow, steady rhythm that makes the whole mansion feel tucked away from the world. Orion planned this.A quiet, indoor, romantic date. Just the two of us. Honestly after all the craziness of the past couple of weeks, he and I both needed this.Second hand stress isn’t the best option for a relationship. Candles everywhere. Low jazz humming from the speakers. The pool lights dimmed to a soft blue that makes everything look cinematic and expensive. I’m in a silk slip dress. It’s cream, backless, subtle enough to look effortless but fitted enough that I know exactly what he sees when he looks at me.It’s the perfect, sexy outfit to wear for my boyfriend.I know he loves it too because he wouldn’t stop staring at me. We’re halfway through dinner when he smiles at his phone. “I need to take this,” he says, already standing. “My sister.” I nod easily. “Okay, babe. Take your time.” He presses a quick kiss to m

Lindsay’s mansion always smells like money and every expensive thing you could think of. Polished marble floors, tall glass windows overlooking the pool, furniture that looks like it’s never been sat on without permission. Even the air feels curated. I’ve been here enough times to know where not to touch, where to sit, how to keep my voice at a respectable volume. Still, tonight feels different. I’m sitting across from Lindsay at the oversized kitchen island, a glass of wine untouched in front of me. Gabrielle lounges beside her, legs crossed, phone face-down for once, which already tells me she’s tense. Lindsay is chopping strawberries with surgical precision, like feelings might spill if she stops moving. “So,” Lindsay says casually, not looking up. “I’m still getting used to the idea of you and Eloise.” I blink. Once. “Okay,” I say slowly. Not congratulations. Not I’m so happy for the both of you. Just “getting used to it.” Gabrielle snorts. “Everyone in school is stil

I knock once. Soft. No answer. Then again, louder this time around. “Dad?” I try. Still nothing. I turn the handle anyway. The study smells like ink and old books and frustration. Tristan is sitting behind the desk, jacket tossed over the back of the chair, sleeves rolled up like he’s been there for hours. Papers are everywhere. His laptop is open, but the screen is dark. His phone lies facedown beside it, untouched. He doesn’t look up when I step inside. “Dad. You okay?” This time he does. His eyes are red. Not crying-red. The kind you get when you don’t sleep and stare at the same thought until it eats a hole in your skull. “You shouldn’t be here,” he says. “I live here remember.” He exhales and leans back. “That doesn’t mean you need to see this.” “I already did,” I say quietly. “There’s nothing wrong with ninja assassins feeling sad” That gets his attention and he laughs a little bit.“I don’t feel like such a tough ninja assassin right now” I close the door b
