VIOLET

Axel pressed his wet lips to my neck, sending a jolt of unwanted arousal through me. I took a deep, steadying breath. Summoning every ounce of willpower, I pushed him away.

“What do you want from me?” I groaned as I flipped around to glare at him. “What part of ‘stay away from me’ don’t you understand? You still had to stalk me here and put your stinking lips on my neck.”

His lips curled into a smug smile. “I wasn’t stalking. In fact, I believe you were the one stalking. I was here first.”

“What?” My mouth opened in disbelief, and I quickly went into defensive mode. “I was here first. You just came. Why would I stalk you?”

“I swim here. A lot. And I was swimming before I took a quick stroll into the woods, and when I came back, I saw you here,” he replied nonchalantly.

“Whatever.” I snorted as I swam toward the edge. Getting out of the water, I picked up my dress, and wore it as I stormed out of that place. He was just so infuriating.

I stomped through the forest, muttering cur

VIOLETI felt my hands trembling as I hesitantly answered the call.“What is this I am hearing?” His voice boomed from the other end of the line. “I didn’t send you to that school to mess around with that bastard’s son.”“Dad,” I choked. “It is not what you think.”“Then what is it?” he shouted. “There is only one explanation for the picture I saw. He is the son of my enemy. The man I hate with everything in me. Treat him like one. Nothing can happen between the both of you. Do you understand? Nothing!”Not wanting to argue with him anymore, I responded, “Nothing will happen between us.”“Good. I shouldn’t hear of such anymore. The both of you must not be in the same space at the same time. You must not breathe the same air!” he pressed.“Understood,” I said with a sharp breath.Without uttering another word, he ended the call. VIOLET“Where are you taking me?” I asked Emily as she led me into the forest.“It’s a surprise,” she giggled. “We’ll get there soon. I usually go there when I want to take some heat off my chest.”I knew following her into the forest like this was not right, but my curiosity got the better of me. I wanted to see what she was talking about. Maybe whatever she wanted to show me could help ease the turmoil swirling in my chest. We continued walking, walking, and walking until we arrived at a cliff, and that was when she finally stopped.I looked at her, confusion crossing my features. “This is it? This is what helps you relieve stress?”She nodded. “Yep.”“What part of this is stress-relieving?” I asked, confused, as I peeped over to see the beautiful waves of water flowing beneath the cliff. “Okay, maybe this is soothing,” I concluded as I continued staring at the water.“Told you,” she replied weakly.I turned to look at her. “You love swimming too?”She rolled her eyes. “That’s none

Blood splashed all over him, but he didn’t care as he continued to mercilessly cut through them with ease. After a while, they stopped trying to struggle against him and just lay there on the floor, almost unconscious. If he continued this way, he was going to kill them for real. I had to stop him.“Axel!” I called out, but he didn’t respond.I moved closer to him and grabbed his arm, causing him to stop immediately.“Stop, please. You are going to kill them,” I blurted out.“They could’ve done worse if I hadn’t shown up. So it’s only fair if they all die!” he groaned with so much rage.I shook my head, tears stinging my eyes. “Please, don’t kill them,” I pleaded.I didn’t want him to turn into a monster because of me. Axel looked like a totally different person. He was covered in blood, and the dark look radiating through his eyes was deadly.“Please,” I added when he hesitated. The muscles

VIOLETLater that evening, we were summoned to a meeting in the principal’s office. Axel, Emily, the three boys, and I sat silently in front of Alpha Richard, the principal. The absence of parental involvement in such a serious matter made me suspect that Emily was really going to get away with this. But I kept my cool, hoping I was wrong.“So, explain in detail what happened,” Alpha Richard started, his gaze scanning between all of us.Emily was suddenly mute, as were the boys who had tried to assault me.Alpha Richard’s gaze settled on me. “Violet, you reported this. Go ahead and explain.”Shrugging, I recounted everything that happened without leaving anything out. When I finished, Alpha Richard sighed heavily, rubbing his temple as though the weight of the situation physically burdened him. He then turned to Emily.“Emily, is that true?” he asked her.She vigorously shook her head. “I swear, she is lying. I didn’t ask them to do that. Violet told me she wanted a breath of fresh ai

VIOLETThe injustice I faced wouldn’t stop gnawing at me. I hated it so much that the mere sight of Emily made me have super dark thoughts. Right now, we were in the training room, waiting for the next class to begin—combat. All I could think about was storming toward her and plucking her eyes out.“Hello, students,” the combat professor, Professor Ronald, called out as he strode through the massive doors of the training room.“Good morning, Professor Ronald,” the students echoed.“Apologies for being a bit late. I had an emergency to attend to,” he said, coming to a stop in the center of the circle we’d already formed. “Today’s lesson is on defense strategies. You have two minutes to pick a partner.”The students scrambled around, picking each other as partners. I scanned the room, instinctively searching for Axel. When I found him, my heart skipped a beat. He stood on the far side of the circle, a girl clinging to him as if her life depended on it.“Looks like it’s just us two witho

AXELRage burned through me after Violet told me those things. Just when I thought I was getting somewhere with her, she tossed all my efforts away and demanded I stay away from her. That’s exactly what I would do. I’d ignore her until her eighteenth birthday, when she sees her wolf and the mate bond fully develops. Then, the tables would turn, and she’d beg to be with me. I wouldn’t take it easy on her.Staying away from lacrosse was like depriving my lungs of air. And now, thanks to Violet, I was stuck with another one-week suspension. I didn’t regret protecting her. I would do it over and over again, but that didn’t make her any less infuriating.Since I couldn’t play, I decided to at least watch practice. I hoped watching would ease the maddening itch to get back on the field. Indie accompanied me to the arena, and the moment we got there, my gaze met Violet’s, but I quickly looked away.“Okay, spill it,” Indie said as she plopped down on one of the stadium seats. “What’s going on

Do something to mask the scent before Violet gets back. I don’t want her panicking. I’ll deal with Emily myself,” I told Daisy before cutting off the mind-link.“Axel!” Indie called from behind, hurrying after me. “What happened? Where are you rushing off to?”I had almost forgotten I didn’t come here alone. Turning back, I stepped closer to her, planting an apologetic kiss on her cheek. “I’m sorry, Indie, but I have to go. Something’s come up.”“What’s going on?” she asked, her brows furrowed in confusion.“Bye,” I promptly said, intentionally ignoring her question, before turning around and whisking out of the arena. It seemed Emily wasn’t satisfied with getting away unscathed after what she did to Violet. AXELWhen I arrived at the library, I spotted Emily browsing the tall shelves, her fingers trailing across the spines of the books.“Emily!” I called out, my voice booming as I strode toward her.“Oh, Axel,” she said, turning to face me with a wide, almost mischievous smile.“What did you do in Violet’s dorm room?” I growled, keeping my voice low but firm.“Oops,” she gasped dramatically, her hand flying to her chest as if she were truly shocked. “I got caught?”“Don’t play games with me, Emily. What did you do there?” I demanded, my patience wearing thin.“Axel.” Her expression suddenly turned serious. “What is it about her? She’s not prettier than me. Why do you seem to be so interested in her?”I raised my brow. “And who told you I was interested in her?”Confusion crossed her face. “I thought you were—”“What if I was?” I cut her off quickly.“I am just jealous,” she admitted. “When we were together, you never defined our relationship. AXELIt took everything in me to release Violet and follow Aunt Amelia back to the witches’ kingdom after that sweet intoxicating kiss. I wanted her in my arms at all times, I wanted to devour her. Hell, I couldn’t wait to put my mark on her, to officially make her mine.My father was notified of the recent development and he promised to be at the witches’ land shortly. The witches’ clan leader was in the throne room, waiting for us when we arrived. He quickly leaned forward and raised a brow as he asked Aunt Amelia. “Did you get it?”She nodded, and pulled the black headband out. “Here it is.”“Then let’s get to it.” He said as he stood up and started walking towards the giant doors.Aunt Amelia followed and so did I.“Where are we going?” I asked her as we walked out of the throne room and down the corridor.“To the spell room.” She told me.“And he is not going in with us.” Kaelin called out from ahead. I scowled. “Why?”“Because it is sacred for the witches and I can’t allow wol

VIOLETTThe first thing I did after waking up was check if the headband was still in my pocket—and I was relieved to find that it was. I immediately called Axel to inform him, only to find out that he was already at the Witches’ clan leader’s place, asking him to free me. My chest spread with warmth at that information, knowing that my mate truly cared about me. I couldn’t believe that I had ever doubted his love for me.They would be here any moment to take the headband and undo the hex. I couldn’t be more excited. Living with this sickness was hell and I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy—except Lila though. I had hated her before, but the hate doubled over after my interaction with her. She had no atom of remorse in her.I stared at the black headband in my hands, a satisfactory smile touching my lips. She’d soon be done for.A knock suddenly sounded on the door and I quickly sat up, a smile spreading on my lips as I expected Axel and Daisy’s mom to walk in. But that smile quickly

AXELIf the man before me wasn’t Aunt Amelia’s father and Daisy’ grandfather, I would’ve charged at him and gouged his eyes out. How could he be so heartless, causing an innocent girl so much pain? I understood we were all desperate to root out Lila and put an end to her menace once and for all, but hexing Violet? That was too far.And the cure to the hex was bullshit. How could he insult the mate bond like that? Mating and marking of one’s mate was sacred to the werewolves. It was supposed to be done when both parties were fully ready. But the Witches’ clan leader here had turned it to a cure to a fucking hex. “You have to find another way!” I barked at him. I had full desire to mate and mark Violet, but not this way. We have to do it out of our own free will, not when we are being forced. “Why?” He raised his brow, totally unbothered by what he had done. “Why do you care about that? Tell me the truth, are you her mate?”“What if I was?” I snapped. “Would you consider finding anot

I gasped as I landed on my back, pain shooting through my body.“Oops.” She pulled an exaggeratedly apologetic expression. “Didn’t mean for that to happen.”I quickly stood up and tried to punch her again, but before I could reach her, she disappeared into thin air, only to reappear behind me.“Nice try.” She chuckled.I flipped around, feeling intense rage and hatred consuming me. She was the menace we had been looking for all these while, and I couldn’t let her go. I had to find a way to trap her. But there was so little I could do when I was alone and she was more powerful than I was. “Where are the girls?!” I growled. “Damn!” Her face twisted into a frown. “Why does everyone keep accusing me?”“Don’t even attempt to lie to me.” I retorted. “All evidence points to you.”“Really?” She folded her arms across her chest, pinning her gaze on me. “What evid

VIOLETI opened my eyes, feeling how weak my muscles were. This was so frustrating. I woke up every time, not knowing the next time my temperature would rise and make me faint again. I couldn’t continue living this way. I was on the verge of losing my sanity. My father wouldn’t tell me why the witches’ clan leader hexed me, and he wouldn’t succumb to his demands either. That showed how little he cared about me and my heart ached at that.Groaning in pain, I reached for my phone on the nightstand to call Daisy. He was her grandfather so she might have some idea.“Violet!” She beamed from the other end of the call when she picked up. “I had tried your line several times but it wasn’t going through.”The pain was so much that I forgot I had a phone. It was not until this evening that I asked my mom for it and she gave it to me. “There’s been a lot going on.” I told her with a tired sigh.“How are you? You don’t sound well. I thought you would have recovered.” She asked, sounding worr

AXELMy eyes sparked with amazement, mesmerized by the beauty of the town as we strode through it. Every pathway was adorned with flowers of beautiful colours. I even sighted a group of children practicing their magic by trying to revive a withering flower. Finally, one of them did it and they all jumped up in excitement with echoes of their giggles spreading around the area. It was beautiful and heart-warming.This place was so different from all the werewolf kingdoms I had been to.At the centre of the town, was a giant castle which I believed the clan elder resided in. “Is that where the clan elder live?” I decided to ask Aunt Amelia.“Yes, that’s where I live too.” She glanced at me and winked. “You know, since I am the princess.”“Can I see inside?” I asked.“Let’s show you the surrounding first before—““I am really curious to see what it looks like. AXELAfter I left Violet, I went in search of my Dad, knowing they’d be looking for me since the meeting was over. I found him and the others—uncle Lucius, Kade and Tom, in the hallway leading to the hall where the meeting was held. Their voices were hushed while discussing something I presumed they didn’t want anyone else to hear, but when my Dad saw me, he paused, casting a disapproving look my way. “Where have you been?” He groaned. “I brought you here for a reason.”“I am sorry, I had to go and ease myself and I got lost.” I let the lie slip off my tongue. The look on his face showed that he didn’t believe me, but he decided to let it go anyway. “The meeting is done. We are heading back now.” I nodded. “Okay.”On our way to the car, I moved closer to Uncle Lucius, lowering my voice as I asked curiously. “What’s the conclusion on Lila?” “If you wanted to know, you should’ve stayed for the meeting, but...” He leaned closer and reduced his voice to a level only I could hear.

Why?” He asked, confusion saturating his features. That, I didn’t know either as my dad had refused to give me the full details. He always hid things from me, even though it concerned my health.I shook my head. “I don’t know either. But he mentioned that it was the Witches’ clan leader’s doing.”“Kaelin?” He said, confusion evident in his face. “Why would he hex you?”“I don’t know either.” I sighed. “I guess my dad got on his wrong side.”“And he wouldn’t say what it is that is between them. When her parents were informed, they arrived within a few hours and didn’t hesitate to transfer her to the hospital in the south. Now, I was in the dark about her health status and nothing could be more frustrating than that. I couldn’t be more glad that my dad had invited me to tag along for the Alpha King’s summit that was to take place in the south. That was my opportunity to check up on my mate.As planned, I was picked up from school and joined them as we travelled to the south. Uncle Lucius, kade and Tom were also with us. We arrived at the south and we were led to a grand hall where other Alpha Kings with their Betas and Gammas also joined us. “I welcome you all and thank you for honouring this invitation.” Silas said, darting his gaze between everyone in the room. “What I have called you here for is really important.” “It
