Forty Four.

Alpha Elijah’s POV

It happened so quickly. My demands for Elle to show me where Ryan was, was ripped away from me in less than a second.

Aria wasn’t ready to be in the human public eye, not in the slightest. This was the first time she was around humans and I thought she could cope. I should have read the signs as soon as she started fidgeting. All of this was my own fault.

She slumps back in the car after we finally get out of the restaurant. It had turned into chaos, a huge fight breaking out that seemed to trigger the humans in turning on one another. Thankfully, I was able to get us out without her losing completely.

Ordering my wolves to remain in human form had been critical. We had managed to keep our identity from them for thousands of years. I didn’t need the news of our kind getting out over my own fucking mistake.

Elle left. It took her less than a second to escape and I wondered if she had actually been here at all, I knew what the Fae were capable of.
