Chapter Forty

Calla's POV

I woke up to the sound of soft snores and my eyes slowly adjusted to the dim light in the room. It was later in the night, and I noticed Lucian sleeping on the sofa in an uncomfortable position. He must have stayed here all night to make sure I was safe.

I couldn't help but feel grateful for him. He listened to me as I poured out my heart about the Alpha and promised to protect me. I remembered feeling so comforted by his words and the warmth of his hand on mine. He stayed with me until I fell asleep, and now he was sleeping here, in my room.

Looking at him now, I could see the exhaustion etched on his face, but I was touched by his dedication to me. I didn't think anyone had ever cared for me as much as Lucian did despite my hard-back. I felt a warmth in my heart at the thought of him.
