Her lips were soft, almost silken, and pillowy against his own. He could feel the soft tickle of her breath beneath his nose, fingers running through her hair as they breathed each other in.Warmth blossomed in Lori's chest, sparks igniting as Gabriel leaned in closer, his lips kissing hers softly, gently, almost as if he was afraid to break her. Lori woke up in the middle of the night, still a bit sore but overall she felt better. Gabriel had fussed over her all night. She had told him everything about Asher and Jared. Everything he needed to know and with the look on his face, Lori just knew that they would never bother her again. She went to the nursery. She had not seen Emilia since she left and when she got back Gabriel made her lie in bed and eat then sleep. Promising her that the baby was doing fine without her. In the nursery Emilia was sleeping peacefully. Lori smiled as she realized that Jenny had swaddled her with the wrong blanket.She felt tired. And sore too. Her boobs felt heavy. Things became awkward. Lori didn’t know why or how it became awkward, but it had been three days and Gabriel spent all of his time at the office. She wondered if it had anything to do with her. She was feeling much more better. Her bruises had healed and she was no longer sore but her period came barging in like an unwanted visitor three days ago and she got very moody too. Nothing seemed to matter anymore. Nothing. They were engulfed in the kiss. They were engulfed with each other. All Lori could feel was the strong body pressed against her and the firm hands that were around her. She wanted to explore every inch of him. A few days ago if he had tried to kiss her she might have tried to deny herself of him, of that pleasure. But no, not this time. Because she couldn't even continue to pretend. She couldn't hide her feelings for him anymore. During that moment, she knew she wanted more of him, way more than she had ever cared to admit. Gabriel lifted her by the waist and hoisted her up on the counter, his hands gently cupped her lower back and Lori instinctively wrapped her legs around him. His arms were strong against her, his lips soft. He tasted like mint and smelled irresistibly sexy. There was an electric charge between them that Lori had not expected.
