How could I have missed it? It was the scent in the office. I looked the man dead in the eye. He had seen me in the office. That was the only reasonable explanation for his attitude in the last hour. But back to the issue at hand, poisoning? It was a hefty accusation. One that could cost me my life and I was already thinking of ways to defend myself.

He wrapped his fingers around my throat, cutting off my air supply. I clawed at his fingers and tried to get some air in. Nobody moved to help me and I was left at his mercy.

“Let her go Dionyus” I heard his voice. His voice was calm but carried enough authority. The fingers around my throat didn't lose their grip.

“Don't make me repeat myself Dionyus” his threatening voice echoed in the silence. Instantly, his fingers let go of my throat. I sucked in large breaths of air.

“Are you going to let her go unpunished, she tried to poison me?” Dionyus asked in an angry tone.
