READY FOR HIM

"Good morning", Caine's voice filled the cold morning air and made me warmer from the inside.

"Good morning", I greeted him back, grumpy from the sleep and the fact that this was the first time I had not slept close to him even though we were in the same house, married.

“I made you breakfast” he said, and my eyes went to where plates of waffles and syrup and some eggs were laid. I wondered who had helped him with creating this morning's artwork, and then I scanned the kitchen.

The real havoc was in the sink, piles of kitchen stuff.

He slept outside the door and woke up early to cook. I felt bad about it.

Caine could not cook to save himself and if he did manage, it would be a disaster.

His shirt had egg batter on it and his wedding ring was coated in syrup. He looked like he had gone through hell this morning. I was dying to laugh at him, but we were still not on good terms.

“I can’t keep the food down if I eat”, I muttered, and took a bottle of water.
