Chapter Forty-One

    Back in Esper's bedroom, Lucca and Oliver looked at each other frantically. The two men had come to check on their unconscious friend and found the bed empty. Neither one of them wanted to be the ones to share that Esper was missing again. 

   "You should be the one to tell Wesley and Seraph," Oliver decided. 

   "What? Why me," Lucca interjected. 

   "Because you've known the family longer," Oliver refuted. "Technically, I've only known Esper for one day." 

   "To hell with that," Lucca rebutted. "You are the one who talks to people for a living." 

   "I tutor history. That does not make me automatically good at delivering bad news," Oliver said in disbelief. 

   "Oh, come on. You tell parents all the time when your students are not doing well." Lucca reas
