The Khan’s Empire board members sat around the long mahogany table in expectant silence. Isla, as always, took the head seat, dressed in her pressed navy-blue blazer and suit. Her sapphire ring caught the room’s light as she folded her arms beneath her chest, eyes fixed on the glowing projection on the screen.

“Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the Blue Flame Stone,” the presenter announced, stepping aside so the members could see the rotating image of a dazzling greenish blue gem glowing on the whiteboard.

“A gemstone so rare that only two mines in the world produce it. Its lustre is unmatched, its durability greater than sapphires, and its demand in the luxury market is rising rapidly.”

Intrigued murmurs rippled around the table. Some members pointed at the screen, others nodded in quiet agreement. Isla’s expression, however, remained unreadable.
