Kane's POV

The fluorescent lights overhead were blinding—clinical and cold. Like the ones above an operating table, they stripped me bare, dissecting my rage under their sterile glare.

My pen tapped against the folder in an erratic rhythm that mirrored the storm inside my head.

Thud. Thud. Thud.

Aria.

Her name was a thorn jammed in my throat—too deep to cough up, too jagged to swallow.

"Fuck."

I muttered it for what felt like the hundredth time tonight, dragging my eyes back to the reports in front of me. Numbers. Names. Words.

But all I saw was her face.

That subtle lift of her lips when she was feeling defiant. The tight line of her mouth when she was pissed off.

And worse—the way she looked at me that day, like she'd rather die than let me touch her.

Those memories sliced through me like shards of glass, tearing through my veins, each one cutting deeper than the last.

CRACK.

The pen flew from my hand and exploded against the wall, ink bleeding across the wallpaper like a wound.

  • The Billionaire Regret After My Goodbye   My Nightmare, My Savior

Aria's POV"Hello? Mr. Lake? Is anyone home?"A man's voice—unfamiliar. Rough. Not Kane.Relief flooded my body, but only just.I tiptoed to the door and peeked through the smart display.A repairman in a blue uniform stood outside, wearing a baseball cap pulled low over his face.He wasn't tall or broad like Kane. No expensive suit. Just toolboxes and wires at his feet."We're here to repair the kitchen control panel," he said.Right—the panel had shorted yesterday when the soup spilled on it. Chad must've called someone to come fix it.I took a deep breath and reached for the door."Chad's not home right now, but—"A sharp, chemical stench hit me the second I cracked the door open. A rough cloth clamped over my mouth and nose.My body went into panic. I clawed at his arm, digging my nails into his flesh.I felt blood under my nails—but my strength drained fast. My limbs turned to jelly. My knees buckled."Mmph—!"The world tilted violently. My vision blurred. I felt myself being dra

  • The Billionaire Regret After My Goodbye   Kane Is Back

Aria's POVThe phone screen dimmed as Caleb's text popped up like a bucket of cold water over my head:[Sorry, Aria. Something came up at work. I won't be able to pick you up.]Of course. I should've known better than to expect anything different.I checked the time. If I tried to get into the city now, I'd be arriving after dark. And this place… it was so remote. Not a single car in sight. My fingers tightened around the suitcase handle, the metal growing warm in my grip. Just then, the soft click of the front door unlocking made my heart leap into my throat.I looked up. Chad had returned. His suit jacket was slung casually over his arm, his tie loosened, dark circles under his eyes. He looked exhausted. He stopped when he saw me, all packed and ready to leave. His Adam's apple bobbed as he swallowed."You're leaving?" His voice was rough, like it hadn't been used in days. He twirled his car keys between his fingers, absentmindedly.I avoided his gaze. The suitcase wheels trembled sl

  • The Billionaire Regret After My Goodbye   She's Not One Of Us

Gabriella's POV"Send me the address. I'll be there."I stood silently at the top of the stairs, fingers curled around the railing, listening to my brother's voice. He spoke into the phone in that low, gentle tone I hadn't heard in so long. His back was to me, his shoulders unusually relaxed. Then he turned to grab his coat—and I saw it.That faint, uncontrollable smile tugging at the corners of his lips. The kind that came from somewhere deep inside.Aria. That cheap, manipulative bitch.Clinging to Kane with one hand while spending the night in another man's house, and now she had the nerve to go after my brother too?Over my dead body."Caaaleb!" I drawled sweetly, descending the spiral staircase in exaggerated steps. As I reached the last one, I launched myself into his arms with practiced ease. Tilting my head, I asked with a playful pout, "Where are you off to? A date?"He cleared his throat and carefully peeled my fingers off his arm. "Work."His Adam's apple moved almost imper

  • The Billionaire Regret After My Goodbye   Leaving

Aria's POVThose words slithered into my ears like venomous snakes, their poison rushing through my veins, freezing me from the inside out.I stumbled backward.Crash—My elbow knocked over a glass. The sharp shatter sliced through the air, but it couldn't compete with the deafening sound of the wall of trust inside me crumbling to pieces.I stared at the broken shards on the floor, Chad's voice still echoing in my mind."I'll make sure he dies."My fingers trembled, cold sweat pooling in my palms. He had once been the person who knew me best—my safe harbor, my calm in the storm. And that's exactly why it would've been so easy for him to manipulate me, to earn my trust again, to use it.Suddenly, everything made sense. His reappearance at the hospital.Bringing me to this secluded house.Even the nightly glasses of milk that made me fall asleep so fast—were they part of the plan?"Aria?" Chad rushed in, concern etched across his face as he reached for me. "Are you okay?"I flinched aw

  • The Billionaire Regret After My Goodbye   I'll Make Sure He Dies

Aria's POVThe days that followed settled into a quiet rhythm.I found myself growing fond of the peaceful life here, and of Chad's steady, comforting presence. We'd go grocery shopping together. He cooked for me himself. Every night before bed, he would bring me a warm glass of milk—always the perfect temperature, always waiting on the bedside table.I don't know if it was the milk or his magic touch, but every time I drank it, sleep would wash over me like a wave.My limbs would grow heavy, my thoughts quiet. I'd burrow under the covers like a hibernating animal and drift off with ease.Tonight was no different. After my shower, I slipped under the covers early, enjoying the warmth of the blankets when the door creaked open."Drink this before you sleep," Chad said, stepping in with the familiar mug in hand.I reached out, but before I could take it, he scooped me out of bed with a mischievous grin. "Not so fast. You drink it now—while I watch."I made a face at him."Fine, bossy,"
