I AM SOMEONE'S SIDECHICK

CHAPTER 8 I AM SOMEONE’S SIDECHICK

As hopeless as it may sound, but we now have different things in life that matters to us, and what we have was fleeting. Even if it happened, even if it was special, even if I did feel something, It would never last. It would ruin us.

On the way to Heivers, Arsin was the one driving so he asked one of his people to drive my car here since I told him that I have an affair right after Heivers, so that was why I am now inside the comfort of my car, trying to calm my self from what seemed like a near death experience with the famed devil, Arsin Guilerme.

After a while, I started the engine of my car. What I need the most is to get away from here. I am on my way to a friend’s house, my driver will pick me up there tomorrow, while I will be staying at her place for the night.

For the first time in a while, I have the time for myself, and I won’t let anything ruin this hard earned vacation that I got.

“Clei~ it’s been a while sweetheart! If I didn’t know better, I would have thought that you’ve forgotten about us!” Mrs. Harper called out to me as soon as I arrived inside their mansion when the maid let me in.

“Auntie Nina, you look dazzling as ever.” She cooed at my praises, playfully smacking me at the side.

“You silly girl, you really know how to appease me.Oh well, your stubborn friend is upstairs, cooped up inside her room. You better talk some sense to that young lady.” She rolled her eyes and waved her hand, ushering me upstairs.

They didn’t have to show me where the room was since I’ve been here numerous times already. That people would mistake me as someone who lived here since birth.

I knocked at the door and waited for her to open it, and a couple of seconds had passed, and she opened it for me.

“GOD! Clei! What took you so long! Mom has been terrorizing me! That old woman!” A young woman dressed in her comfortable bedroom clothes appeared before me, some fuzzy pajamas, and a bunny headband that keeps her medium length, softly curled hazel hair out of her face.

She looked young, around 18-21, but she is already 26 years old. Her cheeks were all flushed and her mesmerizing big rounded brown eyes glaring at me.

“WHAT!” she pouted her lips, and crossed her arms after not getting a response from me.

“Your mom complained about you, what did you do now?” I asked while I placed my bag at the side table and sat on the opposite side of the tea table. Her room was enormous, almost comparable to a royalty’s room. She was after all, the only daughter amongst 3 children, just like me.

“Why do people always think I did something wrong when there’s a problem?!” she complained and kicked her feet in the air.

“Maybe because YOU are stubborn and you always have a knack for trouble. Now, what happened?” She looked at me as if she was hurt by what I said, but we both knew she wasn’t.

“Fine!! Maybe I did something bad. It was just a tiny problem, nothing big!”

I shake my head as I know that this tiny problem is not so tiny after all.

“Well, after my schedule with MODEST magazine, mommy called, saying she booked a blind date for me, and I must go there or else she would not let me inside the house. I was mad, I really hate her blind dates, I always end up meeting rude and unruly sons of her friends.”

“And?”

“Well.” she started rubbing her hands together, showing some signs of anxiousness.

“When I got there, I didn’t approach him first, and he was flirting with someone, so I was furious. I grabbed the first man I saw and dragged him to our table. I told him in the face that I don’t like him. I have a boyfriend and I kissed the guy in front of him. It’s just that, I didn’t know Clei~ I didn’t know that the guy I dragged was that man’s sister’s boyfriend! I was shocked when the blind date guy punched the other guy in the face!”

I pinched the bridge of my nose, trying my best not to yell at this woman.

“Ysabella Marie Harper!”

“I didn’t know! I just wanted to get out of there! And you know what’s worse! The girlfriend saw us! She tried to slap me in the face but the guy I dragged luckily stopped her. He was kind, but I really didn’t mean to do it, Clei! The girl was so mad she slapped the other guy on the face and broke up with him on the spot!” She was on the verge of tears but I didn’t buy it.

“You could have contacted one of your CO-models instead of ruining someone’s relationship Ysa.”

“It’s not my fault!” She screamed, then she went quiet for a few seconds before she bit her lower lip and whispered. “Well kinda?”

“I don’t know what to do with you. How did Auntie know about all of this?”

“Well the guy’s family called mommy, she complained about how I was someone’s side chick and ruined someone’s relationship.”

“Does she know the whole story?”

“NO! I would rather have her think I am someone’s side chick, than think I am single, and that I did all that to get rid of the guy, duh!”

“Your logic, it doesn’t sit with me. I don’t know what to say.”

“I left them there and it’s been 3 days since I last went out, I am so scared I might see them somewhere. Plus, I don’t know what my manager would do to me.”

“So this is why I have been hearing about some scandal lately. You really ought to fix this, it’s your reputation as an A-list model on the line here.”

“I don’t care, I don’t really like modeling anyway, I just went with it cause it’s fun.” I shrugged my shoulders after hearing that.

She has a point, her family is rich enough to provide for her, she doesn’t even need to work since she is doted upon by every member of her family.

That could probably be one of the reasons why she is so stubborn and spoiled that her manager is going bald by now.

Ysabella has been a friend ever since my college years, I met her on my first day as a freshmen, she was an architecture student. In our tiny circle, there's only 4 of us, and the other two is currently out abroad for their work.

“Enough about me Clei, why are you so late, your gym hours were over a few hours ago.”

“It was nothing, I just met some acquaintance and we had a cup of coffee in Heivers right after.”

“Acquaintance? Hmm, was it Arsin?” As if there was something stuck in my throat, I couldn’t deny her claims immediately.

I am a lawyer and I could lie without batting an eye, but not with my friends. I tend to forget all the skills I learned when I am around them.

“Cat got your tongue? Hmm, so it is him. SO, did you fuck?”

“What the hell Ysabella!”

“Shush, don’t act innocent. Did you?” she scrunched up her brows and threw the pillow at me.

“No.”

“NO? Why does that ‘No’ sound so sad and disappointed?” She teased.

“Shut up Ysa,”

“Nye nye, you are playing with fire Clei, and I hope you don’t get burned in that process. The last thing we want is for you to go through all those shits once again. I swear, I won’t sit still.” She was warning me. And I knew better than to ignore her.

They were there when I chose to end whatever it is that me and Arsin had. They saw how wrecked I was, and I don’t want to experience it again.

“I know. I know.”

We didn’t speak of it any longer as she brought me downstairs and we had our lunch. She then brought me to their entertainment room and we began our agenda of playing games, watching movies and just doing everything we could do for the day.

This is how we usually spend time together as a group. And it has been 5 weeks since we last saw each other, Ysabella as a model always had her schedule packed, Kirsten is a chef in a world renowned 5 star hotel and only has her vacation 5 times a year, and each time would be a week at most. And lastly, Saya, the friend group’s congresswoman. With all the political things she has to work with, she barely has enough time for the group.
