LOGIN"I knew it," Tamara said immediately. "You could have asked for money or a house or anything else. What do you mean by "he should answer whenever you call?" She looked at me with suspicion, her voice rising with every word.
I didn't bother looking at her. Instead, I lowered my gaze to the screen of my phone. Every second that passed reminded me that Amy didn't have much time left.
"You do not have much time left," I said calmly. "Deal or no deal?"
The hallway fell silent, David didn't even take a moment to think about it. "Deal," he said without hesitation. "Do whatever it takes to save our daughter, but if anything happens to her, you are not going to escape what is coming for you."
His voice was cold, but I wasn't surprised, even now, he still didn't trust me. I slowly lifted my eyes to meet his.
"You worry about making sure my requests are met because you gave me your word and there is no going back," I said. "While I worry about saving your little princess."
Without waiting for another response, I turned around and walked away. I could feel their eyes on my back, but I didn't look behind me.
As I made my way toward my office, my thoughts were completely scattered. Everything had happened much faster than I expected.
For days, I had been thinking of different ways to approach David without looking desperate. I had gone over countless plans in my head, wondering how I could get close enough to him to ask for what I needed.
In the end, fate had done the work for me, I hadn't expected Amy to become my patient. I hadn't expected David to come begging for my help, it almost felt too easy.
I silently thanked God for dropping David right into my hands without forcing me to chase after him.
Now came the difficult part, getting David to fuck me, the thought alone made my chest tighten. I hated David. After everything he had done to me over the years, I couldn't even stand the sight of him.
The idea of sleeping with him again made me sick. If fate had given me another option, I would have taken it without thinking twice but fate had brought me back to him.
I took a long, steady breath and forced myself to push those thoughts aside. This wasn't the time to lose focus.
Right now, Amy was lying in the operating room, and her life depended on me. No matter how much I hated her parents, she was still an innocent child, she deserved a chance to live.
After taking a few moments to compose myself, I changed into my surgical gear and headed for the operating theatre. As I scrubbed my hands, I silently prayed. I prayed that the surgery would be successful.
Hours passed, by the time the surgery was finally over, every part of my body ached from standing for so long. The operation had been difficult, but it was successful, a wave of relief washed over me.
After changing out of my surgical clothes and cleaning myself up, I slowly made my way toward the reception area. I was exhausted, all I wanted was to go home, see Jayden, and get some rest.
But before leaving the hospital, there was one more thing I needed to do. I had to remind David of the promise he had just made, he had given me his word and I intended to make sure he kept it.
With that thought in mind, I picked up my bag and walked toward the reception area.
They were still waiting in the reception area. Unlike earlier that morning, the fear on their faces had been replaced with relief. The tension that had surrounded them for hours was finally gone.
This time, only David and Tamara were there, I walked over and stopped in front of them.
"I have fulfilled my part of the bargain. I just want to remind you of your part," I said. "I will call you when I need you."
David nodded without hesitation. "Thank you so much. Thank you for saving Amy," he said, gratitude filling his eyes. "I will await your call."
I simply nodded. Tamara didn't say a word. Instead, she stood there rummaging through her handbag as though she was looking for something.
I turned to leave, but David's voice stopped me.
"My mom is going to be celebrating her sixtieth birthday next month. She asked me to invite you to show her appreciation for what you did for Amy."
The moment those words left his mouth, Tamara shot him a sharp glare.
"I will pass," I replied without a second thought. Mrs. Lockwood had never liked me, if anything, she had made my life miserable when I was married to her son. There was nothing that could convince me to attend an event hosted by that woman.
"I will send the invitation box to you," David insisted.
I simply shook my head. Nothing was going to make me attend that party. At that moment, Tamara finally found whatever she had been searching for inside her bag.
She pulled out a check and threw it at me. "That's five million dollars, your payment for the service you just rendered," she said. "David is not going to be available for whatever nonsense you have planned."
I didn't bother responding to her, she was nothing more than a barking dog. Instead, I looked directly at David, silently reminding him of the promise he had made.
Then I turned around and walked away, I thought my day was finally over. Unfortunately, the hospital director came looking for me and begged me to take one last surgery. It was only a minor procedure, but there weren't enough senior surgeons available.
I didn't have much of a choice, by the time I finished, it was already late. Completely exhausted, I picked up my phone and immediately called the nanny to check on Jayden.
She answered almost instantly. "I have been trying to reach you. You have guests waiting for you at the house," she said.
I froze, no one knew where I lived. "Two women," she continued. "They said they are your stepmother and your sister."
I quickly slammed the door shut and locked it. My heart pounded so hard that I could hear it in my ears. I pressed a trembling hand against my chest as I struggled to calm my breathing.God, please don't let them find out about Jayden, I prayed silently. After standing there for a few seconds, I slowly turned around. The moment I did, I saw Jayden running down the stairs as fast as his little feet could carry him. Emma was right behind him, trying to catch up before he reached me, but she was too late.He ran straight into my arms. "I missed—"Before he could finish speaking, I gently covered his mouth with my hand. "Shhh." I whispered. "Bad people."His eyes widened immediately, and he nodded without making another sound.Emma walked over to the window and carefully looked outside. After watching for a few moments, she turned back to us. "They have already left," she said.I finally let out the breath I had been holding. Jayden looked up at me with a confused expression and lowered h
I froze the instant I heard those words. "Emma and you let them inside my house without confirming from me?" I shouted into the phone, unable to keep the panic out of my voice.I didn't wait for another second. I rushed into my office, grabbed my bag and everything I needed, then sprinted out of the hospital. Within moments, I was inside my car, starting the engine before I had even properly closed the door.As I sped out of the hospital premises, only one thought kept repeating itself in my head. Tamara and her mother must not meet Jayden, I couldn't afford to lose him. They had already tried to kill him when he was still growing inside my womb. If they found out he was alive, I had no doubt they would do something even worse this time.My hands tightened around the steering wheel as I drove far above the speed limit, my heart pounding harder with every passing second.I had hoped returning to New York would finally give me some peace. For the first time in a long while, it had felt

Nicole I froze, for a moment, I wondered if I had heard him correctly. David Lockwood, the untouchable billionaire. The man whose pride was as legendary as his wealth, the man who had never begged anyone for anything in his life was standing there, begging me to save his daughter. His voice wasn't filled with arrogance anymore. I slowly closed my eyes. Instead of feeling satisfaction, my thoughts drifted to Jayden. My little boy, a child who had suffered since the day he was born. The child who had endured endless hospital visits, painful treatments, and countless nights of discomfort. The child who had no idea that the man standing in front of me was his father."You can't promise to do anything she asks," Tamara whispered urgently to David. "What if she asks you to marry her again? You know that woman has always been obsessed with you." A quiet scoff escaped my lips. Typical Tamara, even now, with her daughter's life hanging by a thread, her greatest fear wasn't losing Amy. It was
Nicole Point Of View The moment the director finished speaking, complete silence fell over the group. Every one of them froze, slowly they all turned to look at me. I met their stunned expressions with a small, satisfied smirk. The shock on their faces was priceless."You... you mean she's Doctor Nicole?" David asked, his voice unsteady as the words stumbled out.I couldn't help but smile, five years ago, when I left New York behind, I had buried the woman they all knew as Hayley. I changed my name to Nicole, my middle name. It has always been my mother's favorite name for me. I also dropped my father's surname and took my mother's maiden name instead. Even after learning that I wasn't biologically related to them, my mother's family never stopped treating me as one of their own. They welcomed me with open arms and became the family I had always longed for."Yes," I said confidently. "I am Doctor Nicole Davies." I held my head high as I spoke.Judging from the expressions on their f
Nicole He bent down and picked up my phone, his eyes landed on the screen for a split second. My heart skipped a beat. Without thinking, I rushed forward and snatched the phone out of his hand before he had the chance to read any of my messages."Thank you," I said coldly, tightening my grip around the phone. For a few seconds, neither of us spoke. We simply stared at each other."I can't believe you are standing here in front of me," David finally said, still looking at me in disbelief. I slowly looked him up and down, he looked different. His body was much broader than I remembered, as though he had spent countless hours in the gym over the past few years. He looked more mature, more confident, and even more handsome than before.David had always been an incredibly attractive man. That was one of the reasons I had stayed hopelessly attached to him for so long, despite the way he treated me. His coldness never stopped me from loving him. Looking at him now, I couldn't help but noti
