The Deal

The Grand Ballroom of the Armitage Hotel glittered with excess. Crystal chandeliers sparkled overhead, strings of violins filled the whole air, and champagne flowed like water. The annual Blackwell Investors Gala wasn’t just a social event, it was war dressed in silk and diamonds.

Isla Wilde stepped onto the marble floor like a regal storm in velvet.

She wore obsidian. A gown that clung to her curves with lethal elegance, slit high on one side, her dark hair pulled back into a knot so sharp it could’ve cut glasses. Her blood-red lips, storm-grey eyes. Untouchable and Unforgiving like a Rebel.

Heads turned towards her. Whispers followed her like perfume.

Across the room, Lucian felt her before he saw her.

He was dressed in his usual armor, tailored black suit, icy composure, a scotch in hand. But his grip faltered the moment she entered. She hadn't come to blend in with the people here. She came to conquer. To rule.

Their eyes locked together.

One second too long. The string quartet hit a crescendo.

And then a voice boomed in.

“Elan Vogue’s founder,” one investor murmured. “She’s stunning in person.”

“And she’s got Mr. Stone wrapped around her finger,” another replied. “Blackwell better watch his throne.”

Lucian moved toward her through the crowd like a panther stalking prey.

Isla, of course, didn’t flinch. She turned away before he reached her and greeted Leo Stone, who stood with two CEOs, already charming the whole room with a captivating smile.

“Isla,” Leo smiled, offering his hand. “You’re the most dangerous woman here tonight.”

She accepted his hand but didn’t smile. “Dangerous…hmm.”

Lucian interrupted before Leo could reply.

“Stone.” His voice was low, sharp.

Leo turned lazily. “Lucian. Beautiful party. I see you brought tension as your plus one. You like roaming around with extra baggage, don't you”

Lucian ignored him. His eyes were on Isla. “May I have a word with you?”

Isla looked at him like he’d asked for her blood.

“I’m here to do business. Not revive old and buried memories.”

Leo raised a brow, amused. “Should I step away or stay in case one of you throws a glass on him?”

“You should go,” Isla said to Leo softly. “Lucian and I are very good at public drama.”

Leo gave a slow, deliberate nod and walked off but not before brushing his hand along Isla’s lower back.

It was lile a warning. A claim of Lucian, on Isla.

Lucian’s jaw tightened. “You enjoy provoking me, Isla?”

“I’m not here for you,” she said. “But if I were, you’d already be on fire.”

They moved to a quieter corner of the ballroom near the art gallery installation, black and white portraits of legacy were stuck in the walls, frozen in time.

Lucian leaned in, his voice like a steel-wrapped silk. “The merger will proceed, Isla. But you’re pushing my boundaries.”

Isla sipped her champagne. “Boundaries only matter if you intend to respect them. Don't you know?”

“You were never this cutthroat.”

“You never gave me a reason to be soft.”

Lucian flinched.

Her words hit him like knives.

“This gala,” she continued, “is just a circus. We’re all dressed up, smiling for shareholders, while the real deals happen in the shadows. In the darkness.”

“Then let’s make a deal.”

She tilted her head.

Lucian stepped closer. “I will stop resisting the merger. You stop dragging our past into the boardroom.”

Isla laughed quietly. “Oh, Lucian. You think I need your approval?”

He didn’t answer her.

Her voice dropped, laced with ice. “I built an empire without your name. Without your money. Without your protection. Don’t insult me with a pathetic deal.”

“You came back to destroy me.”

“I came back to remind you that I survived. Alone”

Lucian looked at her and for the first time, saw the fire beneath her calm. The rage buried beneath her eyes.

She stepped even closer, and her breath was warm against his cheek as she whispered.

“Don’t touch me unless you’re ready to burn in the fire.”

And with that, she walked away.

Later That Night – Headlines Bleed like Gold

The paparazzi caught them.

One photo.

One second.

One moment

Lucian and Isla, standing too close in the gallery wing. His head tilted toward hers. Her lips slightly parted.

The air between them crackled.

By morning, it was everywhere.

“Old Flames? Blackwell and Wilde Heat Up Gala.”

“Revenge Romance or Business act?”

#Islian was trending in the whole internet

Elena barged into Isla’s office with a tablet. “You broke the internet.”

Isla, seated in her glass office with an espresso, she didn’t even blink.

“Let them talk.”

“You looked like you were about to kiss him,” Elena muttered. “Was it... real?”

Isla set her cup down, voice calm.

“I was about to set him on fire.”

That Same Night – Blackwell Tower

Lucian stood in his office, staring at the photo.

Something about it made his chest ache.

The world saw chemistry. Lust and Power.

But he saw the ghost of what they used to be.

The space between their mouths. The anger in her eyes. The grief neither of them had ever spoken about.

His phone buzzed.

Unknown number.

He picked it up, expecting another tabloid notification.

Instead, it was a message.

“Your child is alive.”

Lucian froze.

He reread the words once. Twice. Thrice.

Your child is alive.

It couldn’t be.

He staggered back, dropping the phone onto his desk. The past slammed into him with the force of a train. Isla’s painfuk sobs. The white hospital sheets. The cold, detached doctor explaining fetal distress. Claire’s smooth voice roamed in his mind, “You never saw the body. You were away, Lucian. It was better that way.”

His fingers trembled for a second.

No name. No number. Just that single sentence.

Was it a sick joke?

Or the beginning of something far darker?

He looked back at the photo of Isla.

And this time, it wasn't a desire he felt.

It was dreadful. Haunting.

Some truths don’t stay buried.

And some lies were never lies to begin with.

  • The Billionaire's Ex-wife is untouchable now   A Daughter’s Place

Isla found herself returning to the Dufort mansion every weekend now. At first, it was overwhelming, from the grandeur of the estate, the walls covered with portraits of a family she wasn’t sure she belonged to the warm but unfamiliar embraces she had come to accept. And just like that, little by little, the sharp edges of shock began to smoothen slowly.Sia would always greet her at the door, her arms open as if she had been waiting all week for this precious moment. Selene dragged her away on what she called “sister adventures” tea dates, shopping trips, late-night movies as if they were trying to create a lifetime of sisterhood into the years they lost together. But it was Dominic who surprised Isla the most.He didn’t push her. He didn’t demand her to call him dad.. He was simply there for her. Whether it was waiting patiently while she looked at those old photo albums, or walking beside her in the gardens, or watching Aaric run around the estate with a quiet smile, Dominic gave

  • The Billionaire's Ex-wife is untouchable now   His First Child

The Saturday sun spilled golden light over the Duforts’ vast estate, its marble floors glowing under the sunshine. It was Isla's another week of agreeing to spend time with them, and this time Sia and Selene had insisted on a “girls’ day.” Lucian had been amused and relieved, when Sia promised that Aaric would be spoiled rotten under his grandfather’s watch.“Go,” Lucian had murmured at the car, pressing a kiss to her temple softly. “I’ll manage with Aaric today.”Isla let out a smile.Inside the glossy black limousine, Selene looped her arm around Isla’s with a sisterly ease that startled her. “We’re going to City Street first. The boutiques there are to die for. They are amazing ”Isla laughed softly. “I don’t really know if i should go-”“Oh come on, ice queen,” Selene teased, her eyes dancing just like their father’s. “Elser sisters don’t get to say no to their younger sisters.”Sia, sitting across from them, watched with a tenderness that seemed to ache through her watching her d

  • The Billionaire's Ex-wife is untouchable now   Weekend with the Duforts

The drive to the Duforts’ mansion had become almost routine now, though Isla still felt a flutter inside her nerves each time the estate gates swung open. Lucian’s hand rested reassuringly over hers on the leather console between them while Aaric chattered excitedly in the backseat about his new grandparents and recounting every fun thing they had done over the past week.“It’s Sunday, Yay! We’re going to see Grandma Sia!” he squealed, bouncing in his seat. “And the garden flowers! And maybe we can play in the library too!”Lucian chuckled softly, shaking his head at his chirpy son,“Careful, Aaric. You might give your mother a whiplash with all that excitement.”Isla smiled at the nickname, a warmth spreading through her chest. Each weekend she had spent with the Duforts had been a careful balance of curiosity laced with hesitation, openness mixed with a lingering doubt. But slowly, she found herself letting go, allowing all the small gestures, the laughter, and the shared stories to

  • The Billionaire's Ex-wife is untouchable now   Warmth of a mother

The Blackwell car rolled to a slow stop outside the wrought-iron gates of the Dufort estate. The early Sunday sun painted strokes of pale gold, dew still clinging to the edges like diamonds. Isla sat stiffly beside Lucian, her fingers absently tightening around the strap of her handbag. She had agreed to meet the Duforts again. She reminded herself. She had agreed to come here without Aaric, to see them as their daughter. Still, the very word tangled in her chest.Lucian reached over and touched her hand. “You don’t have to force yourself,” he murmured. His voice was quiet, protective, the tone he reserved only for her.“I know,” Isla replied, forcing a small smile. “But I need to know who I was before.”The gates opened and the car moved forward, revealing the sprawling Dufort’s mansion beyond. When they entered, Sia Dufort was already waiting at the top of the stairs. The older woman’s eyes softened as soon as they found Isla. She came forward quickly, not with hesitation but with

  • The Billionaire's Ex-wife is untouchable now    A mother’s pain

The drive back from the Dufort mansion was quiet. Aaric had dozed off in his car seat, his little head tilted against the soft cushion and his soft breathing a gentle rhythm in the tension like silence.Isla sat rigid, her gaze fixed on the blur of trees and city beyond the glass. Her nails dug faint crescents into her palm, every muscle tight, as though letting herself relax might let everything she’d been holding back pour out. Lucian studied her, he could see the calm mask she wore, the way her storm-grey eyes shone with a glassy sheen she refused to spill. He didn’t press her further. When they finally returned to the Blackwell mansion, Isla carried Aaric into his room, tucking him in with her quiet and motherly gentleness. She lingered with a small yet broken smile at his bedside, brushing back his curls, watching him sleep like he was the only steady truth in her collapsing world.Only after the door clicked shut did her facial expression change.Lucian was waiting in the livin

  • The Billionaire's Ex-wife is untouchable now   Meeting the family

Isla hadn’t slept for a single hour. She had spent the night sitting on the edge of their bed, her back pressed against the headboard, The files kian had sent were open in her trembling hands. Every word cut her open, every photograph felt like a stranger stealing her memories, stealing her past.Sabrinal Dufort. Heiress. A stolen child. A missing girl. The names swirled in her mind like a curse.Lucian hadn’t pushed her into thinking any further. In fact he had simply stayed close, silent but watchful, his hands were brushing against hers every time she faltered. His presence was the only thing tethering her to remain sane at this point. When the sun rose, the storm inside her hadn’t silenced down.“I need time,” Isla whispered, her storm-grey eyes raw with exhaustion. “I can’t just switch families overnight, Lucian. The Montgomerys raised me. They were my parents. And now suddenly I’m supposed to believe I was stolen?” Her voice broke on the last word.Lucian cupped her face, forcin
