Mag-log inVienna turned and turned in bed until almost two in the morning. She had just promised her sister to take care of everything without having any means of doing so.
Her mind went back to her meeting with Kellie. Every one of her needs would be met, and her dad might be freed from prison if she asked for it.
It was a very tempting offer for her, and also, she would be able to get money to help Nisan for all his help over the past three years.
She thought and turned again.
Vienna weighed the thoughts of a fake marriage in her heart, with someone she so much despised, and sighed heavily.
"Vienna, can you please stop turning around every second? The bed is small enough as it is," Vanessa complained sleepily.
"I'm sorry; go back to sleep," she said and closed her eyes to force herself to sleep.
In the morning, Vienna decided to inform them of Alan's proposal and her meeting with Kellie.
"He wants you to be his fiancée because of his condition? No, don't," Vanessa rejected, her face twisted with disgust.
"Nisan, what do you say?" Vienna turned to him. Nisan was silent for another five seconds before answering her.
"I don't know what to say, but I'm sure he has a reason for asking," he said. He only met Vienna after she left Alan and came to the countryside.
"Then I will have to go to the last resort, Dad," she thought and went to meet her father at the prison. She was given five minutes to speak.
"Vienna, how is your mother and sister?" her father asked. Vienna explained everything going on with them to him immediately.
"How is she right now? Have you gone to meet my sister? I'm sure she will help," he said anxiously and went into a fit of coughs.
"Dad, are you alright? Are they maltreating you in here?" Miner did not want his daughter to know how much he was actually suffering in the prison, so he just smiled and lied that it was fine.
"Aunt refuses to help at all. She doesn't even want to see us," she answered after being reassured by her father that he was okay.
"Then there is only one thing—go meet Grandfather Clinton. I'm sure he will help," he suggested.
Vienna gave a wry smile and left, disappointed.
She received a call from the hospital on her way and rushed there thinking it was because of her mother, but getting there, she saw that it was Vanessa.
She had gotten into an accident while trying to give fliers to people on the road. Luckily, it was a minor injury.
After checking up on her to see that she was okay, she went to meet the doctor to ask about her mother's condition.
"I told you that as the days go by, the rate of success for her surgery will also reduce gradually, but I haven't heard anything from you since you brought her here. When are you going to bring the money so we can start? You also need to pay for her hospital bed and other things; the bills are seriously piling up," the doctor said, annoyed with her.
"I am very sorry; I will get the money very soon," she said, more like trying to convince herself.
She walked away from the doctor and sat down, then she unconsciously dialed Kellie's number.
She placed the phone on her ear and waited for her to answer it.
"Hello," she heard her say. Vienna cleared her throat before responding.
"Hello, this is Vienna Miner. I'm calling you about the offer you made the other day; is it still valid?" she asked with a mixed mind.
"Yes, do you agree?"
"I agree with whatever it is, but first, can I get the money needed for my mom's surgery and for my sister?"
"Sure, you can. I will take care of that immediately," Kellie replied and cut the call.
"Sir, Miss Vienna just called; she agrees and wants the money for her mother and sister right away," she told Alan, who was sitting with his back facing her.
"Give it to her," he simply said and Kellie went away to get it done.
After a few minutes, Vienna received an alert on her phone. She was surprised by how fast it was, and she quickly went to the hospital cashier's office and paid for her mother's surgery, including all her bills, along with Vanessa's.
Then she headed to the doctor's office to discuss more, and her mother's surgery was scheduled for the next day. Then she went back home with Vanessa.
"Where did you get the money to take care of my hospital bills? Did you take money from the little we were able to gather?" Vanessa asked somberly.
"No, you don't need to worry about it. And also, I will take care of your school bills very soon, so you better start reading for your final exams and also quit every part-time job you have and just concentrate on your studies," she replied instead and rested her head on the arm of the chair.
"What are you saying? Where did you get the money from?" she asked.
"Let me guess, Alan?"
Vanessa answered her own question, and when she still received a silent answer, she knew that she had guessed right.
"You really collected money from him? But..."
"Trust me on this, okay? I know what I am doing. And besides, it's not marriage with him, just to pretend to want to marry him for a short period of three months."
"But what if something goes wrong?" Vanessa said worriedly.
"Look, Vanessa, nothing will go wrong."
"But are you sure you don't have feelings for him anymore?" Vanessa asked with a sigh.
"What are you saying? Of course not, not after what he did," Vienna answered sharply.
If anything, she will take this opportunity to repay him back in his own coin and ride on his misery.
"Remember back then when you came home crying that you would break off your engagement, but it took a message from him for you to forget about what he did."
"Then I was young and infatuated with him. But now it's different," Vienna asserted.
"Okay, fine. Then what about Nisan?"
"I will tell him myself," Vienna said.
"Just be careful," Vanessa told her before going inside to rest.
Then Vienna received a message from Kellie to meet.
She got up immediately to go meet her and arrived at the same café in a short while. She met Kellie already waiting.
"Mrs. Kellie," she greeted.
"It's Miss, I'm not married yet," she replied.
"Oh, I'm sorry," she quickly apologized.
"No offense taken. Here is the contract, please read and sign," she told her, and brought a pen for her.
Vienna took it and signed immediately without reading. Even if there was anything unsatisfying, she had already taken the money and spent it.
Kellie took the document from her and read out the condition in it.
"First, you must never reveal to anyone about my meeting with you or the contract. Your family will be allowed to stay in one of Mr. Alan's houses for the period of three months while you stay together with him," she said and Vienna nodded.
"You will need to act like his fiancée on different occasions and especially in front of the whole family and ensure you push off the wedding until after three months," she finished.
"Understood."
Bonus Chapter. Alan drives Vienna to the clinic for her regular check-up, one hand on the wheel, the other reaching back to hold little Alex's hand. But Alex pulls away with a slight frown."Dad, I'm a man now. You don't have to hold my hand in public," he says with an air of seriousness far beyond his five years.Alan chuckles. "Really? Since when?""Since forever," Alex replies confidently. "People will think I'm still a baby if you keep doing that."With an amused smirk, Alan lifts his hand in a full, dramatic salute. "Yes, sir. Noted, young man."They walk into the clinic, and after a few quiet steps, Alex glances up at his father again. "Dad, do you think Mom's going to have a boy or a girl?""I want a little brother," Alex declares without waiting for an answer. "That way, we can do cool stuff together-and he won't be into dressing up like those silly girls at school."Alan raises a brow, murmuring just loud enough, "I don't want that."Alex hears it. "Don't want what?"
Two of Alan's bodyguards entered the room and firmly took Benita from Sam's grasp, escorting her out without mercy. "I know she's done terrible things," Sam said with a hint of sympathy, " But please... don't hurt her." "That depends on my mood," Alan replied coldly, then turned and led Vienna out of the house. Sam followed behind them."I didn't know you told Alan about this," Sam asked Vienna, his voice a mix of surprise and concern. "I'm sorry," she said gently, "but it was for the best." Alan's patience was thinning, his expression growing more serious."Mr. Alan, I'm really sorry about everything," Sam said, stepping forward and stretching out a hand. Alan didn't take it. Instead, he brushed past him with indifference. Sam chuckled softly, not offended by the snub. He turned to Vienna. "I just hope we can still be friends," he said sincerely, holding out his hand again.Alan instinctively stepped forward, but Vienna subtly stopped him with a light touch on his arm. "I don't
Nisan takes a taxi to Vanessa's apartment. As he leans back in the seat, a quiet sense of relief washes over him-he's finally said what he needed to say. For the first time in a long while, he feels light, almost happy. He once longed to reunite with his father, tired of being labeled "fatherless," but after two years of living that life, he realizes he prefers to be somewhere he's loved for who he truly is-not for what he represents. The taxi pulls up in front of Vanessa's building. Nisan pays with the last of his cash, steps out, and knocks gently on the door. He waits. About a minute later, Carolina opens it.She says nothing when she sees him, only gives a nod and steps aside to let him in. Silently, she leads him down the hallway to Vanessa's room. She's already asleep.Carolina leaves him there and quietly walks away.Nisan steps closer and sits on the edge of the bed. He gazes at Vanessa with quiet remorse. He shouldn't have left her-not when she needed him most. Gently, he tak
Vanessa suddenly stopped insulting him and abruptly ended the call. Nisan, caught off guard, quickly dialed her number again. But this time, someone else answered."Hello?" a voice said. It was her roommate."Can you please give the phone to her?" Nisan pleaded, his voice shaky.Carolina hesitated but eventually handed the phone over, clearly reluctant."Vanessa-" he started, but she cut him off."Nisan, can you... can you not go through with the engagement?" she asked softly, her voice trembling. "Can't you break it off for me?"He didn't answer. He could hear her sobbing quietly on the other end."Remember when you told me you'd grant me a wish before leaving?" she asked. "Can I use it now? If it's about money-I will work harder to support you-" Carolina snatched the phone from Vanessa before she could say anymore nonsense and ended the call.Nisan stood frozen, the silence on the line echoing louder than any words. He slowly lowered the phone from his ear, still stunned, just as
"Are you staying over?" Victoria asks, popping another fruit into her mouth."I'm not sure I should," Vienna replies, taking a bite from the plate herself.Within moments, Miner walks into the house. Both women stand up to greet him. Victoria walks up to him with a cheerful smile, wrapping him in a warm hug before taking his bag."What's the reason behind all this excitement?" Miner asks, raising a brow at his wife's unusually cheerful demeanor."Aren't you just glad I'm happy?" Victoria teases with a playful tone."I am... just pleasantly surprised," he replies, clearly curious."Vienna's here too," Victoria adds, glancing at Vienna with a subtle nod.Miner nods knowingly and takes off his suit and shoes before settling on the couch. Victoria quietly takes them to the bedroom."I'll leave you two to talk," she says with a smile, disappearing down the hallway.Miner turns to Vienna. "So, what's this about? You sounded urgent.""Dad," Vienna begins hesitantly, her tone serious, "I need
Sam stares at Vienna in utter disbelief, his mind struggling to process everything she's just revealed. Her words paint a picture entirely different from what Benita had told him.According to Benita, Vienna had manipulated Karen-driving him to madness-while stringing Sam along with lies. She claimed Vienna abandoned Karen coldly for Alan's wealth and even aborted Karen's child to erase any trace of their relationship. Benita insisted Alan framed Karen, leading to his arrest and eventual death. Through it all, Benita positioned herself as the loyal friend Sam never noticed, the one who suffered in silence and was wrongfully imprisoned because of Vienna. But now, hearing Vienna's version, Sam's certainty crumbles.Vienna, calm but resolute, watches the confusion twist across his face. She reaches into her bag and pulls out a folder thick with documents-proof of Karen and Benita's alliance, their plot to seize control of the company, and details about Alan's eye injury."Take this,"
