Kill The Beast

Despite Miguel's effort on stopping Elias to go back home, he still wasn't able to do anything. He understands Elias's desire to know more about his true nature. But Miguel knew that Elias won't find what he's looking for in Thorn. He knows for a fact that Fred Grunt was not a werewolf more his wife, Jack. In fact, Fred was not always an angry drunk man. He doesn't have a mean bone on his body before his wife. The moment Miguel learned that Elias is a werewolf, he already knew that Fred wasn't his father. That's what Jordan was investigating. The truth about Elias's identity.

"Come on, Jordan! Pick up!" Miguel grabbed his hair out of frustration. The last message he got from Jordan was that he's on his way to a witch who could tap into Elias's past using his personal belongings. "Damn it, Jordan!"

Miguel paced back and forth in the living room of his house. He's trying to think of the best way to help Elias. He can't Duncan because of the vampires he was hunting but he doesn't want to let his friend face his adopted father alone. Only God knows what Fred is gonna do to him if Fred knew about the truth. He remembered his old hunting buddy, Ashton.

[Hey, buddy. You busy?]

Ashton agreed to go to Thorn and watch out for Elias while he finishes up his mission on Duncan. He went to his private room and started making stake bullets laced with vervain. The best long-range weapon against a vampire.

Elias felt weird going back to Thorn after he promised that he will put the city and everyone in it in his past. But what choice did he has? Something's happening to him. He's turning into a monster and he learned that it's only hereditary. So the only person he could talk to was his father. Even though he's the last person he wanted to see.

When he arrived at their house, nobody was home and the front door was locked. So he did what he always does whenever he snuck out. Take the back door. He was able to hide a spare key on their house under the first step to their back door. That's what he had always used. As soon as he entered the house the familiar stench of alcohol hit his nose. He shook his head.

Elias took a quick shower and changed his clothes. He also prepared himself some food since he's starving. At least his father hasn't thrown his clothes. After a few hours of waiting, he heard his father's car arrived. Fred was shocked at him. But that shock turns to anger quickly.

"What are you doing here, boy?" Fred shouted at him.

"I know the truth know. Why you were so mean to me." Elias said, smiling. He thought his father was like him. You were doing it to protect me. Because I'm like you. I'm a werewolf." Elias directly said. He was expecting a confirmation but he was confused about what his father's response was.

"You're a—what?" Fred looked sincerely confused about what he just said.

"Stop denying it! I'm like you! You're a werewolf!" Elias was so sure about what he said.

"A werewolf? You really have gone mad, haven't you?" Fred laughed at him. "I'm not even sure if you're my son, and now you're telling me you're a werewolf and I'm like you?" That hit Elias too hard.

"You don't match my blood nor my wife's." He could feel the anger in his father's eyes. "You just seemed to have materialized out of nowhere stealing my real baby from me!" Fred came at Elias and slammed him on the wall.

Elias was shocked as well as hurt. His vision blurred and his hearing ringing in his ears. Fred grabbed him by his neck and picked him up. "You took my family away from me!" An uppercut awakened Elias. He fell hard on the floor while spitting blood. "You took my child away from me!" Another punch landed on his right ear making it bleed instantly. "You took my wife away from me!" A kick in his stomach made Elias vomit. "I cursed the day I lay my eyes on you!" Another kick and he almost passed out.

Fred was about to kick Elias again when he heard an angry growl. His foot hanged mid-air unable to react immediately. He stumbled when he jumped back after hearing Elias's bones shifting. His eyes were wide open in shock.

"You always hit me, why do you have to always hit me!" Elias speaks up but his voice was animalistic. His head is still down. "If I'm not your son, you don't have the right to hit me!" Elias was shifting his very eyes. He looked up at Fred. Bright golden amber.

"Oh my God!" Fred stood up straight and ran towards the living room cabinet where keep his rifle. "You're a monster!" He was about to shoot Elias when Zel appeared from behind and grabbed the rifle. She hit him with the rifle knocking him out cold. While the man who arrived with attended to Elias. He made him a talisman with the same pendant as Jordan's.

"Elias!" Elias continued to growl as his body begin to shift. "Elias!" For some reason, he calmed down when he saw Zel's eyes. A bright golden amber reflecting his own. "Come down, Elias. It's over." Zel said while looking directly into his eyes. Elias panted while started to calm down.

"Zel?" He asked as if wanting to make sure his eyes weren't playing him.

"Yes, sweetheart. It's me. Now calm down, okay?" She reminded him again. They both took calm breathes as Elias's body turns back to normal.

"He—he's not my father." Elias finally said. His voice turned back to normal too.

"No, he's not," Zel confirmed what he was just thinking while doing something on her phone. "Sheriff, I'm at the Grunt's house with Elias. Fred just tried to kill him with a rifle." After a few minutes, Sheriff Tamayo came in with two other police officers.

"I have to knock him down. He was going to shoot him." Zel explained when the sheriff saw Fred lying face-first on the floor. As the police officers grabbed him, Fred gained consciousness.

"Ha! David! He's a monster!" Fred shouted like a madman while trying to grab the sheriff. "I saw it, David! He's a monster! You have to kill him!" Sheriff David Tamayo shook his head while thinking that drinking has finally caught up with his old friend.

"Take him. Let's go." He ordered the two policemen.

Zel took Elias and Patrick back to her home. They were all quite the whole drive back. Elias was leaning his head on the window beside him. Patrick quietly sat at the back of the car, listen to the music on his phone. Zel glanced at Elias from time to time. She wanted to start a conversation but she doesn't know where to start or what to even say to him. She knew he'd be mad at him for lying and for keeping things to him. But now that he knew, he was hoping Elias could be more forgiving and open for an explanation.

"Who's hungry? Zel asked.

" I am." Patrick immediately answered. "You, man?" He asked Elias.

"Yeah, sure." Elias simply responded.

Zel went to the kitchen to grab a few beers for the boys and then she started cooking. But her mind was overwhelmed with what she saw earlier. In the entire werewolf species, only the alphas can control their turn. Meaning they turn at will. But there are only a few werewolves with bright golden amber eyes. And she's one of them. A true alpha blessed by the moon goddess.

"I thought you're cooking." Zel was in deep thought that she didn't even realize Elias was already standing by the kitchen door.

"Huh? Oh! Yeah, right." Zel immediately grabbed what she needed and started cooking.

"What were you thinking?" Elias was looking at him as if reading through her mind.

"You. I was thinking about you." She thought there's no more sense in lying.

"Why? Because we have the same eyes? Or because I turned without a full moon?" Elias is no longer holding back with his questions.

"Both." She said.

"But you did it too. What's the matter with that?" He asked again.

"I'm an alpha. Alphas the only ones who can turn at will." She answered honestly.

"So does that mean I'm an alpha?" He asked again. Still straight in her eyes.

"No, you have to get the moon goddess' approval before becoming an alpha." She answered honestly again.

"I see, why do we have the same wolf eye color? I met a werewolf named Jordan but his eyes are golden yellow." Elias fired another question.

"That, I don't know. Bright golden amber eyes are said to be the eyes of the moon goddess. It means when you have it, you are the eyes of the goddess on earth." She explained truthfully.

"What is the color of your fur when you turn? Jordan's dirty white, you?" Elias asked again.

"White. Like the snow. I am called the snow wolf." Every bone in her body was telling her to run towards Elias and hug but she did everything she can to stop herself. She doesn't want to assume.

"Mine too. You're cooking my favorite. Great, I miss that." Elias said before turning his back on her.
