𝘿𝘼𝙉𝙏𝙀

The moment the church doors shift open and Alera walks in, the hall falls silent as heads turn towards her.

Mama is by her side, radiant in her pride, but my eyes don’t stay on her for more than a second. They’re fixiated on Alera because she looks divine.

The gown hugs her small frame perfectly. I'd seen the dress days before she even saw it. I knew it would look good, id spent millions on it. But nothing prepared me for the magnificence walking towards me. Her veil shimmers with every step and despite my infuriation with her, I can't deny it. She's breathtakingly beautiful.

When Mama finally places her hand in mine, Alera’s fingers tremble against my palm. For a moment, I question my resolve wondering if I'm being too harsh on her. I want to lift her veil and search her eyes, to see what’s behind them, but I hold back. She lied to him. She's probably told Kingsley everything about the contract they have. I have no idea.

I should feel completely satisfied that I b

Why it took so long for the characters to get to this point, I have no idea. Honestly, they truly had minds of their own. But this has to be my favorite scene yet. Completely enjoyed writing it.

𝘿𝘼𝙉𝙏𝙀 At the far end of the space, is Nichole fighting her way forward, my men holding her in place. “Bastardo! Traditore!” she shrieks. "Today, the world will see your true colors!" I give Alera a quick glance. Her eyes meet mine just as I look at her. I raise my hand slightly, gesturing for her to stay put. Mama is already on her feet, moving towards the commotion. I gesture for Bianca to take her away from here. And she doesn't hesitate. She leads the children and Mama out. Mama isn't that compliant but Bianca manages. Alessia on on the other hand, takes the mic, her voice is firm as she instructs the guests to remain seated. Once Mama and the children are out, Luciana breaks through the crowd, her face is flushed with rage. I move fast and meet her halfway. “How could you do this?” she yells. The music is gone. The laughter is gone. The guests fall into silence. “How could all of you do this?” she screams again, pointing at my family seated nearby. “You betray Papa!

𝘼𝙇𝙀𝙍𝘼I sit up instantly and let out a small scream when I see Dante seating on a chair, staring right at me. I drag the covers over my body. “What’s going on?” My voice comes out smaller than I want it to. "Where is this?" I ask, ignoring the urge to ask how I got in here. "Milan." He says curtly."What is going on?" I ask again, this time trying to appeal to his humanity. He doesn’t answer immediately. He buttons his cuffs. Then, without looking at me, he says, “Tomorrow, we’re getting married.” The words punch the air out of my lungs. “What?” “Tomorrow,” he repeats flatly, “you and I will be husband and wife.” My stomach does a flip. “That wasn’t the plan. You said it would be next month. You said...” “I know what I said,” he cuts in, tone sharp. “Plans change.” I shake my head. “You can’t just...” He finally looks at me then, his eyes are hard and warning me not to push. “You saw what the media did with the leak. The longer this drags, the worse it gets. So, sooner

𝘼𝙇𝙀𝙍𝘼 “Dante, please! what’s going on?” I yank on the handle again, harder this time. The lock doesn’t move. The car is speeding, swallowing street after street. My pulse races so fast, I can almost hear it. He doesn’t look at me. His hands stay on the wheel and his jaw is clenched so tight I’m surprised his teeth hasn't cracked. His hard expression sends chills of fear down my spine. “Talk to me,” I beg, voice breaking. “You’re scaring me.” He remains silent, as if I hadn't just frantically asked him a question. I scramble for my phone, clutching it with shaking fingers, I press the screen. I don’t even know who I’m going to call, my father, the cops. What do I tell them? That my fiance is kidnapping me? Not just any fiance, but Dante. I need to try anyway. Before I can even unlock it, his hand shoots out. He snatches my wrist so tightly I let out a small cry. With that hand, he plucks the phone out of my grip. “Dante...” “Relax. We just need to go somewhere mo

𝘿𝘼𝙉𝙏𝙀 “Mr. Moretti…” Anita’s voice cracks. Her lips tremble and her eyes are glassy with tears that cling stubbornly before spilling down her cheeks. Her whole body is shaking against the restraints. “Save your tears,” I tell her in a flat tone. “You’ll need them later.” She sniffles, then swallows hard, and tries to sit straighter though the effort makes her look even smaller. “It’s been a while, hasn’t it?” I lean closer, watching her face twitch with fear. “How have you been?” “P...please Mr Moretti,” she stammers, voice breaking, “let me go.” I stand, brushing invisible dust from my jacket. “I can’t. You owe me.” A gesture with my hand and one of the men drags a chair over. I sit across from her, elbows on my knees and my eyes steady on hers. “We have a lot of catching up to do, don’t you think?” Her throat bobs as she swallows, eyes darting toward the floor as if it can protect her. “You really thought you could hide from me, didn’t you?” My voice drops an octave l

  • The Bride He Bought    Chapter 37

𝘿𝘼𝙉𝙏𝙀 “Where are you?” I keep my eyes on the street ahead. Admist the moving vehicles, my sights remain on one figure. She's standing by the side walk, her hand on the door of a taxi. “I’m home,” she answers, quick and nervously. My jaw tightens. “You're home." I drawl. She hesitates. “Ye...yes. Why are you asking? Is something wrong?” “Nothing,” I say flatly. “I just wanted to know how you’re doing.” "I...I'm okay." "Alright then. I'll see you later." I say. Before she can reply, I end the call. My grip on the steering wheel is so tight the leather strains under my fingers. My hands ache and pale against the black trim, but I don’t loosen them. I’d gone to her apartment today. I could have called before coming but there was no need to, especially since I would still call her out of her apartment when I got there. I wanted to let her know that our wedding preparations where coming together well and she needed to get herself ready. That I'd controlled things with the m
