Chapter 5 Alonso

THE BROKEN ALPHA.

“Yes father, I'm going to get mother now, yes I'm taking her to the mall, yes I'll get her whatever she wants.”

“How many times have I told you to stop spoiling her, she's picking up an attitude that when I tell her no, she runs to you. Stubborn woman.” father said,

“Should I tell her what you've said?”

“Now why would you go and do that son, do you like seeing me miserable.”? We both laughed over his comment before hanging up.

I got into my car and headed for the hospital to get my mother from her check-up. She hasn't been feeling too well these past couple of days and feared it was something bad.

She's standing at the hospital entrance waiting for me with a white envelope in her hands, smiling. I stopped and opened the passenger's door for her to get in, then headed to the mall.

“What did the doctor say?”

“Guess,” she replied,

“You're not aging.” She hit me with the envelope across my head and I laughed.

“I'm pregnant.”

“You're lying.”

“No, look, see a baby.”

“I have a brother.”

“No sister.” I swirled on the road for a second,

“Are you trying to get us killed, keep your hands on the wheel?”

“ Congrats mom, but aren't you and dad a little too ancient…”

“Watch your mouth, boy.”

I laughed loudly as we pulled into the mall's parking lot, I parked, and we entered through the group of paparazzi standing outside, it's like this almost every day.

We have to force our way through groups of people flashing camera lights just to get to where we want to go, to go to the mall.

She's dragging me around with her, giving me bags upon bags, and when I tell her she doesn't need something, she whines and carries on about why she needs it.

I'm starting to think dad was right. I'm enabling her bad habits, but how could I not, she's so cute. Once she's done grabbing everything she can, we head to the food court to have a meal.

Her favorite meal is; a burger and fries with coleslaw.

I watch as she eats to her heart's content and as she drinks a mouthful of soda, smiling, my mother is the most beautiful woman to walk this earth.

She's perfect, kind, friendly, silly, and most of all a handful, but that would never change the way I feel about her and one day I hope I find a mate just like her. Take away the smart mouth and the wistful comments, and I’ll be happy.

After eating, we use the back entrance and head to the parking lot, get into the car and head home. The drive home is silent, not a bad silence, a good one, a happy silence.

Mother is smiling, and I know she's excited about giving dad the good news,

“DANGER.” Morpheus my wolf screamed,

BANG…

The moving truck came out of nowhere. Hitting the passenger siding of the car, sending us flying onto the other side of the road. Mom was screaming as we flew midair, and I was holding on to hope and faith that we’d make it out alive.

BLACK…

Voices, that's what I heard as I opened my eyes, everything was a blur at first until I saw my mother lying on the floor bloody, her white dress stained with blood.

I tried standing but couldn't, I couldn't feel my legs, so I dragged myself over to her screaming as the broken glass pierced my hands but not stopping, not until I reached her.

“Mom, mom…”

She wasn't answering, she didn't answer, her eyes were closed, and she wasn't breathing…

“Ma, Mama, stop being so stubborn and answer me…please.”

Nothing, not a sound, escaped her lips…

“Mom wake up, please you have to breathe, so my sister could live, mom, breathe.”

NOTHING…

I heard a car door close, and then I heard my father scream… No not a scream, a raw of an alpha who just lost his mate, he came stomping through the class on the floor until he reached us and fell to his feet.

“Pudding…. Wake up please.”

“I'm sorry, I'll never call you stubborn again.”

“Please wake up, I'll give you anything you ask for.”

“I'll stop scolding Alonso for spoiling you.”

“Just please wake up.”

I saw a white piece of paper flying near my hands. It was the photos of the ultrasound. I took it and stocked it into my jacket pocket, hoping father never saw it because if he did, he would tear the city into pieces.

“Are you ok, son…”

“I can't feel my legs Dad”, that's when it hit me, I couldn't feel my legs it was as if they went dead.

I woke up in the pack hospital the next day whilst Doctor Williams was taking my vitals, he looked at me a little confused.

“Alonso, I know it's too soon to ask this, but would you mind shifting for me.”?

At first, I thought he was out of his mind, nuts, yes that's the right word, but we werewolves can heal ourselves so that may be why he asked.

I nodded and my beta and gamma whom I didn't even notice were in the room with me placed me on the floor. Shifted, but nothing happened. My back legs just lay there not moving, even when I touch them or Dr. Williams would roughly pass his pen along my leg, I felt nothing.

I looked at myself and cried, harder than I'd ever cried in my entire life. Not only did I lose my ability to walk, but I also lost the woman I loved the most.

******

Mom's burial came along quickly, father arranged everything just the way he knew she’d want it, and many people came to give their condolences and say their goodbyes to a dear friend and Luna.

My Beta and Gamma had to help me get from point A to point B and that didn't sit right with me, as he pushed me up to my mother's casket I listened as everyone whispered about my situation.

Some even expressed how much they pitied me and my situation, and that blew a fuse in my brain, I don't want any help from anyone who wasn't my father. I stripped my Beta and Gamma of their title, and they were free to service who they wanted to as long as it wasn't me.

And after my mate rejected me, I decided to take matters into my hands and live a life away from the outside world, to remain indoors.

Over the next couple of years, I remained alone, lost, and sitting in my emotions.

Morpheus tried his best to cheer me up, but it never did any good because there are days he'd also regret being my wolf.
