Looking down at the dark, murky rice in his bowl, Nathaniel's frown deepened into open disgust.

"What is this?"

"Eggplant rice it's actually really good. Try it." Joy held out the chopsticks.

He took them reluctantly, picked up a bite, and put it in his mouth.

Soft, tender eggplant, rice soaked through with broth.

Passable, at least.
