Her brows creased deeper in confusion. “You are just like me, how?”

I licked my lips and stated. “This is not my actual pack,” I informed her and she stared back at me in disbelief.

Just as I was about to enunciate further, we heard a couple of footsteps emanating from the entrance to the library. Instantly, I released my grip around her waist, and she took two steps backward. I watched her pick up the book on the floor and pretend to study it.

A small smile tugged at the corner of my lips and I was lost, admiring her beautiful features when I heard their voices.

“Oh look, Sydney.....it's the Beta!”

My head snapped in their direction and I hardened my jaw to give me that serious look.
