Natalia’s POV

The doctor called me in to talk. He said my younger sibling needed surgery soon, or the heart condition might get worse. Without it, there was a high risk of death.

My sibling has congenital heart disease, he was born with it. I have always been thankful that he survived this long. But now, things are getting worse. He has more frequent attacks. He is not allowed to get tired or stressed, so I never let him do chores at home.

I wanted to cry when the doctor mentioned how much the operation would cost. I had no idea where I would get that kind of money, it was one million dollars.

That amount felt impossible. My salary is just enough to support the three of us. I do not even buy new clothes for myself anymore. I always put my siblings first. I am the only one they have now. Both of them are still studying. I sat down, overwhelmed. My mind was a mess.
