Chapter 27

Regina’s cutting remark broke through Leigh’s preoccupation, surprised at what she had done.

Why is she allowing Adam Fowler to hold her hand?

She pulled back, not wanting Adam to get the wrong idea. 

He could be a great friend - nothing more. 

Adam, on the other hand, looks frustrated. Leigh’s action is a clear indication of rejection. He smiled tightly at Leigh to assure her he was not angry, but anyone could feel his disappointment.

They both look the other way betraying the awkwardness of the situation. 

But Regina was not done with them. She walked in their direction, hips sashaying like she wanted people to admire her rounded hips before she stopped in the narrow space between Leigh and Adam’s chairs. She clucked, head turning from side to side in an obvious show of disapproval.
