Amelia’s POV

I glared at Ronan.  Did he actually think I was  just sitting around making soup? I was the pack Luna. I was busy from sunrise to sunset with pack obligations.

“So you’re not going to make soup?” Sarah batted her eyelashes. She rubbed her belly. “That’s a shame.”

Ronan coughed. “Actually,” he said. He smiled awkwardly. “I’ve made a mistake. Now that I think about it, it isn’t Amelia who makes the soup. It’s the maid, Claire.”

“Then have the maid make the soup,” Sarah shrugged.

“Go back to the packhouse, Amelia. Tell Clarie to prepare some soup for Sarah. We still have a couple prenatal tests. We’ll be home shortly.”

Seriously? Was he for real?

“What? No.” My voice was firm. I wasn’t an errand-girl. My shoulder throbbed. The stitches pulled when I tried to adjust my arm. The doctor told me I needed to rest. I should be at home in bed.

“What do you mean ‘no’?” Ronan’s brows furrowed.

“I mean,” I quipped. “If you want soup, then tell Claire yourself.”

Ronan let out a long, frustrated sigh. “You have an obligation as Luna to care for Sarah,” he challenged. “Now that you know she’s pregnant with the heir to the pack, I expect you to look after her.”

“And if I refuse?” I snapped back.

Ronan scoffed. “You wouldn’t dare.” His tone was haughty. “Need I remind you that you came to this pack as a low-ranking Omega? I made you Luna. Without that title, you have nothing. You took an oath when we married. To put the pack’s interests above your own. Do as I say, Amelia. Go home. Have Claire prepare the soup. That’s an order.”

My hands clenched into fists. I wasn’t an Omega. But he didn’t know that. He was using our wedding vows against me? My position as Luna? What about his vows? To honor me and cherish me? To love me and respect me?

Did his vows mean nothing?

I was furious. But there was no point in arguing. Ronan was obstinate. So, with one final glare, I turned on my heel and marched away.

“Oh, and Amelia?” Ronan called after me. “One more thing. Have the maids prepare the largest guest room in the East wing. Sarah is moving into the packhouse.”

I stiffened.

Moving in? To the packhouse? Sarah was going to…live with us? It was a blow straight to my chest.

‘Don’t let her move in,’ my wolf growled. My wolf was furious. ‘Tell him no!’

I told my wolf I had no choice. The decision had already been made. Ronan was the Alpha. Sarah was carrying his baby. Arguing wouldn’t do anything.

“Fine,” I hissed through a clenched jaw.

Then I stormed off and went back to the packhouse.

Once I was safely alone in my own bedroom, I broke down. The tears streamed down my cheeks. I was deeply hurt by Ronan’s betrayal. Sitting on my bed, I clutched tissues in my hands and sobbed.

Sarah’s swollen belly flashed through my mind. Why was the Moon Goddess blessing her with a baby and not me? It wasn’t fair. I was Luna. I was supposed to carry the heir to the pack.

And now she was going to live with us? Here? In the packhouse?

My maid, Claire, appeared in my doorway. She took one look at my tear-stained face and rushed towards me.

“Oh, Luna Amelia. What’s wrong?”

Claire had never seen me cry before. I always maintained a tough front. As Luna, the pack looked up to me. In their eyes, I was the epitome of strength and grace. Even when I felt like crying, I swallowed it down.

So Clarie was shocked when she saw my red, puffy eyes.

Embarrassed that Claire was seeing me like this, I quickly dabbed at my eyes with the tissues.

“You can tell me, Luna. It’s okay. I’m here.” Claire took my hand in hers.

I was grateful for her concern. She wasn’t just a maid. She was a friend to me. I felt safe confiding in her. So I let the words spill from my mouth.

“Ronan betrayed me,” I said. “He got Sarah pregnant. And now she’s carrying the heir to the pack. She’s moving in with us. He told me I have to look after her.”

“What?” Claire’s eyes grew wide. Anger flickered in her eyes. “That’s preposterous. How could Alpha do this to you! You’ve been a loyal, devoted Luna.” Claire was furious. I appreciated her support.

“I have,” I agreed. “But…” My voice trailed off.

“Go on,” Claire prodded sympathetically.

“Ronan’s right about one thing. I can’t conceive.”

“That’s not true…” Claire started. But I cut her off.

“It’s been three years, Claire. I’m not pregnant. I can’t give the pack an heir.” Sniffling, I wrung my hands on my lap. “Ronan thinks I’m barren. Maybe he’s right.”

“Nonsense.” Claire shook her head firmly. “You’re not barren. And even if you were, that would never justify the Alpha’s actions. What he did was unforgivable.”

“I need you to prepare the guest room. The largest one in the East Wing. Sarah is moving in.” I lowered my gaze, unable to meet her eyes. Saying those words aloud made the pain feel even more real.

Claire gently lifted my chin until I had no choice but to look at her.

“Look at me, Luna,” Our eyes met. Her expression was firm. “You are strong. You have a fire in you. It burns hot and bright. Don’t let this…unfortunate situation…diminish your flame. Yes?”

She was so kind. So supportive. I smiled weakly at her.

“Yes,” I nodded.

Claire stood up with a smile. “This pack has one Luna and one Luna only. And that’s you.”

“Thank you,” I said. “Really. I feel a lot better now.”

She gave me a quick nod then she scurried out of the room.

There was truth in her words. I was strong. I was a good Luna. But even still, I couldn’t ignore the nagging feeling deep in my gut.

Sarah was going to replace me.

Amelia’s POV“Elian,” I said, watching as Damian fluffed the pillows, keeping me propped up in bed. “For the boy. I told Nadia weeks ago, and I haven’t changed my mind since.”“Elian’s good,” Damian said, turning the name over in his mouth. “And the girl?”“Nyla,” I replied. He repeated the name softly to himself. “Nyla. Elian and Nyla.” He nodded slowly. “I like them both.”“Good, because I settled on them in a garden at Silverclaw weeks ago, and I’ve been waiting for you to catch up.”I couldn’t reach Julian or Nadia through the link with my wolf removed, so I wrote them two long letters instead, and Hattie promised to send them out first thing in the morning. I told them the coven had found a way to help. I didn’t include the details. Some things shouldn’t go on paper.“You should go home,” I told Damian while sealing the letters. “Ironfang can’t run by itself for two months.”“It doesn’t have to. I’ve already arranged it,” he said, looking entirely too pleased with himself. “Julia

Amelia’s POVI woke up on the ground with Damian holding me."She's awake." He held my face in his hands, openly crying. "Camilla, she's awake. Amelia, say something.""I'm here," I said hoarsely. "Stop yelling."He laughed shakily and hugged me tight.I couldn't even lift my head. This wasn't like the full moon, when the change left me shaky and worn out. This was quieter, but it hurt more. There was a hole in my mind where someone used to be."How bad is it?" Damian asked."I can't feel my wolf at all.""Camilla?""That's normal," she said. "Let me check on her."She knelt next to me and reached for the green stone on my chest."Where did she get this stone?""Landon from Lonefur sent it," Damian said. "Before we left Silverclaw. He said it calms the mind and helps unborn pups stay safe.""He was right about what it does, but wrong about when she needs it," Camilla said as she took the chain from my neck and handed the stone to him. "Right now, her wolf has been separated from Ameli

Amelia’s POVThe next night Camilla led us to a clearing in the woods. The walk was long, at least two miles. Damian carried me for the last mile because I was too tired to continue. There was barely any moonlight. The witches set candles around the clearing, lighting it up while the woods beyond stayed pitch black.'Are you sure about this?' Damian asked me through our mate bond.'I would be lying if I said I wasn't scared, but I am more afraid of facing a future where I would have to choose my life over our pups,' I replied. 'I'll be with you every step of the way. You can squeeze my hand until it breaks. I don't care,' Damian responded.Crickets chirped in the distance until the witches’ footsteps in the grass cut them off. Sometimes a breeze made the candles flicker and shadows move across the trees. Hattie and Dalila stood with the others in a circle.Camilla stopped Damian at the edge. “You’ll stand here,” she told him. “Don’t take a step closer, and don’t interrupt, no matter

  • The Hidden Princess and Her Enemy Alpha   Chapter 450

Amelia’s POVCamilla didn’t answer right away. She picked up one of the older books and turned it so we could see the page.“The Rebirth Ritual,” Camilla said quietly.“I’ve never heard of it,” I said, frowning at the page.“You wouldn’t have. It belongs to us, and we don’t talk about it outside these woods,” Camilla said, smoothing the page. “Listen. I’ll explain it once, then you can ask questions until you understand.”“Go on,” Damian prompted.“Ten of my witches will take part of your wolf spirit and seal her away.” Camilla traced the page with her finger. The writing was cramped and old, the ink faded where hands had touched it for years. “You’ll carry the twins like you are now. When it’s time, you’ll give birth.”“And then she dies,” Damian said flatly, his voice barely above a whisper.“Yes. That part does not change. It will be exactly as Nadia told you and exactly what Amelia saw in her dream.”“Then what’s the point of the ritual?” I asked. My hands shook, but I tried to ke

Amelia’s POVI slept until it was dark outside.Damian woke me softly, speaking in a low voice. “We should go,” he said, gently moving a strand of hair from my face. I rubbed my eyes and followed him down a dim hallway to a room at the back of the house.A big table sat in the middle. Camilla, Dalila, and Hattie were sitting together, looking serious. Old books were piled up everywhere, some so worn out I thought they might fall apart if I touched them.Dalila looked up as we came in. “Finally awake?” she joked, but I could tell she was worried about me.“Let her have a minute,” Hattie said, sounding firm but kind. She slid a cup toward me. “Chamomile tea. You're going to need this for your nerves.""That sounds ominous," I yawned.Camilla didn’t look up from her book. “Sit down,” she said. “We need to talk, and we don’t have much time.”Damian pulled out a chair for me, and I sat next to him. "They're hoping the books will tell us something new," he murmured."Nadia told me a great d

Amelia’s POV"Good to see you too," I said, walking over and hugging Camilla."You traveled all night," Camilla said, eyeing us. "You haven’t eaten or slept. I know why you’re here, but it can wait until after breakfast.""We came because there’s no time," Damian said."There’s always time for breakfast,” Camilla said as she turned and headed up the path. "Come on."Damian frowned, about to protest, but I squeezed his hand. He looked at me.“Just relax, Damian," I said quietly. "Camilla invited us because she had a way to help us. You know she isn’t the type to mince words. Having breakfast won’t hurt.""I don’t want to sit and eat,” Damian argued.“Do you want to insult her? If you insult her, then she may not help us,” I countered.“She would forgive you and we have an alliance. It would be in her best interest to help us,” Damian said.“Don’t be like that, Damian. You can force your way with her or the coven,” I said. I knew Damian was trying to look firm, but he was trying not to
