April's POV

Alex and I shared eye contact after my question. I was a little nervous about what he was going to say. I looked away first.

"I enjoy my peace January. So I cannot share my apartment with you."Alex told me and of course he got my name wrong. He was obviously doing it intentionally.

"It is only for a night. I have nowhere else to go."I tried to convince him.

"How many times do you need to hear that it is not my problem. I don't even know you. Why would I let you near me?"Alex asked shoving his hands in his sweatpants pockets.

I chuckled feeling like he was being ironic. "So you get to know every girl you have slept with around campus before you sleep with them?"I asked him.

"What?"

"I am just asking since you said you cannot let me near you because you don't know me." I told him.

There was silence between us for a while as we just stared at each other. "You need to leave. "Alex broke the silence by asking me to leave.

I could not let him slam the door on me again. I had a feeling if he did that, he would not open it if I knocked again. So I let myself in by pushing past him. I was inside. I had this new sudden daring rush in me. Maybe because I was scared of sleeping outside. I was ready to do anything. I even surprised myself that I did that. It was so unlike me. I was the shy timid girl who would not dare to even knock at a guy's door but here I was pushing through one.

Alex was caught off-guard by my actions because he looked as if he froze for a moment. "Who told you that you could come in? I said leave not get in, June."he yelled at me his height towering me. He was really tall compared to my five foot six self.

"You have already used June. Try September maybe."I told him with a smile. Okay, I was not always this type of person that I was being now. I have never acted like this with anyone. Well, I had no many people to act like this with. So this was another side to me I never knew I had. I wasn't sure how to feel about this new side to me.

Alex stared at me and I could tell he was speechless. "What is wrong with you June?"he asked me very annoyed.

I sighed shaking my head. "I told you to try September."he started it with the names, he might as well keep the game rolling.

"I think June is better for now."he told me.

" Whatever, apparently I have twelve names now so feel free to call me whichever name that you like."I said tiredly. "Look Alex, just let me spend the night here. I promise I will leave tomorrow morning. It is getting late and I have no hopes of finding a place to sleep tonight. Let me crash here please. I am begging."I was literally begging him.

He just stared at me. "I can pay you for the night I will be spending here if that will make you agree to me sleeping here. I can sleep on the floor too, it does not matter."I paused thinking about what I just said. It did not sound right. "Okay, I cannot sleep on the floor because I have never slept on the floor but I am okay with sleeping on the couch?"I was just rumbling at the point.

"I have not agreed to you sleeping here so stop planning on where you want to sleep."Alex told me closing the door. That was a good sign right?. He walked past me to the inside of his apartment. I followed behind him.

The door led to the first door with led to the kitchen. A very modern open kitchen that was sparkling clean. Three steps or more ahead, there was the living room and a dining table of three people. The living room was quite big. It had a black leather couch and a black coffee table and a sixty four inches TV mounted on the grey walls in front of the couch. I found the TV dramatically big but it was his, who was I to judge.

The apartment had just a simple black and grey aesthetic. I found it depressing really if I was to give a comment about his apartment. His furniture and decor was black and the walls were grey. Who has such unhappy colours as their colour theme for their apartment? But....the place looked quite expensive and well kept as depressing as it was. It showed that Alex was a clean and tidy person. At least he had one good trait.

After I had enough survey of the living room I wondered where Alex had gone. He was not in the living room. I shrugged and I walked to the couch and I sat down. I hummed in relief. Finally, I was sitting down. I had stood for quite a long time while negotiating with Alex. I leaned into the couch shutting my eyes to savour the taste of relaxation.

"You can have the extra room but I want you gone by tomorrow early in the morning."Alex's voice suddenly spoke and I jumped a little startled. I opened my eyes and I looked at him annoyed. I had just relaxed for a bit there but I guess that was it.

Well, now he had changed his clothes. He had black jeans on, a back t-shirt and a leather jacket on it. That fit was so badboy coded.

Then I processed what Alex just said. His fits had distracted me for a second there. I smiled at him standing excited. "Wait, really?"I asked for clarification.

"Did I stutter?"Alex asked me back and I restricted the urge to roll my eyes at him. Why was he so cold and rude? He just killed my mood to give him a genuine happy reaction.

"Thank you."I simply said. "Do you need anything in return? You know, like money?"I tilted my head looking at him.

"This is not a hotel September. Just don't be here when I wake up tomorrow."He called me September. Finally. I found myself smiling that he finally called me September. "The keys to the apartment are in the bowl on the shoe rack at the entrance."he told me walking to the door. There was a shoe rack? I must have missed it in my hurry to get into the apartment to avoid the door being slammed on my face.

But wait....."You are leaving?"I asked.

"If you must know, yes."

"I need a lift. I should get my bags before the dorm administrator throws them outside. Can you give me a ride to campus?"I requested and Alex paused tying the laces of his black boots he picked from the shoe rack.

He went back to tying his shoe a second later and after he was done, he stood upright and looked at me with an unreadable expression on his face. Not that his face was readable any other time anyways. "Are you crazy December?"he asked.

  • The Innocence Is Gone    I am famous

April's POV I stayed in my room till evening. I finished the project and watched some depressing videos. I came out because I felt hungry. I went straight to the kitchen. I looked around for Alex but he was not around. He had to be in his room. I looked at the kitchen and I sighed. I did not feel like cooking to be honest but I was starving."Oh damn. My mom would kill me if she found out I am ordering food when I can just cook."I said to myself taking my phone out to order. But just when I was about to order, a call appeared on my screen. It was my brother. What did he want now? I groaned bored."What?"I aggressively spoke."Calm down little sister. Go to your apartment's basement."Landon told me.I frowned. "Why?""Can you just go without asking questions?"I rolled my eyes before I decided to go to the basement. What did my brother want me to see? Was he in the basement? Wasn't he supposed to have left for Singapore for business? I stepped out of the elevator and I looked around m

  • The Innocence Is Gone    selfish

April's POV I opened my eyes feeling more tired than I had been when I was lying down yesterday night. I was supposed to be relaxed but I was so fatigued I just wanted to keep lying down. But then I was not that sleepy. I sighed and I came to a decision to just get out of bed. I climbed down from the bed and run the back of my hand on my face before I bent to make the bed. At least I knew such basics. I was a very hygienic person so there were things that were automatic for me. I was a tidy and neat person in nature.Just when I tied my hair in a messy bun, I heard some commotions in the kitchen. I frowned. I did not hear Alex come home last night. But then I was a heavy sleeper. I got out of my room. I needed to freshen up but I wanted to see what was going on.I stopped at the kitchen island to look in the kitchen but I ended up freezing in my position involuntarily. I was staring at a half naked girl who was cooking breakfast using my groceries. What was going on? It took me a min

  • The Innocence Is Gone    getting along

April's POV The bell rung as I tried to clean up my mess. I knew Alex called someone to come and clean but I still wanted to try. I could not believe that I could not actually do it. I felt useless. It was just cleaning up the scattered food on the kitchen floors and walls. I just made more mess than I intended. I cleaned my hands and went to open the door. It had to be the persom Alex called. I opened the door. My mouth opened wide when I saw who it was. More than who they were. Marcus and his group of friends stood at the door and except for Marcus, everyone else was surprised to see me too. Why were they here? Didn't they have a party to attened to?"April? What are you doing here?" Olivia asked me surprised."I live here apparently."I replied and everyone frowned looking at each other. Of course they were surprised. How predictable was Alex to make people this confused when he did something out of his norm."No way." Maddy spoke breaking the silence. I was sure her statement was

  • The Innocence Is Gone    Handle my mess

Alex's POV I could not believe Landon just threatened me into accommodating his little sister. He actually threatened me. I did not know how to feel about April staying with me. She was annoying and I just did not like sharing things with anyone especially my apartment. To say I was not surprised that Landon suggested that his little sister stay with was an understatement. Everyone who knew me and Landon knew me all too well, knew that I was bad news. Landon was protective of his sister so why would he leave her with me? Unless there was a hidden agenda.Landon and I went way back. School wise and business wise. Me being from the Gray family and him coming from Hill family, we had met quite often mostly because his family and my family were business competitors. I hated the guy to the guts and I knew he would say the same about me. So despite all that he left his sister under the same roof as me? What game was he playing? He was not my friend to ask favours from me. We were business

  • The Innocence Is Gone    Naive

April's POV "What do you need little sister before I go?"Landon asked after he had taken my suitcases back to the room. It was a nice room I had to admit. So Alex like but a comfortable bed to sleep on.I was sulking at the moment so I did not reply to him. Alex was sitted in the sitting room watching some motorcycle races on his big tv. I was sitted on the dinning table somewhere far away from him."Damnit P, talk."Landon raised his voice at me.I glared at him. "Don't you raise your voice at me."I warned him.He sighed running his hands on his hair. "I'm sorry. You are just frustrating me at this point when you don't answer my questions."he chnaged his tone to a softer one."I don't want anything.""How is that possible? You are living on your own now. You need things like I don't know, a car."Landon suggested.I took in a deep breath. I needed to loosen up and stop sulking like an immature kid. I was mad but I had to think about what I want critically. My brother was right. Despit

  • The Innocence Is Gone    change of plans

APRIL'S POV I looked at Alex waiting for an explanation. What did he mean by what he said? "How do you know my family?"I asked when I got tired of waiting for Alex to take the hint and explain on his own accord.Alex stared at me. "Get your stuff June and leave. I don't even know why I am speaking to you in the first place."He told me coldly then the next moment he stood up straight and walked away. I jumped at the sound of the door banging. He went to his room.I sighed and I bent down near my suitcases. A few minutes later I was done packing and I was pushing my suitcases down the hall to the sitting room where I assumed Landon was. He was looking, no...surveying around the sitting room like a person who was hoping to find something he lost."What are you doing?"I cleared my throat before asking to gain his attention. He turned to look at me acting like he was not snooping a second ago."Are you done?" He asked looking at my suitcases."Do you know snooping is considered creepy?"I
