CHAPTER 18

My body ached all over after that terrible heat. If there was a way to stop it forever, I would take it in a heartbeat. The torture and pains from the heat were something I wouldn't even wish for my worst enemy.

I rolled over in bed and looked around. The memories from the previous evening were hazy but I clearly remember being brought to somewhere else. I looked around and the room was empty.

I rolled out of the stiff bed, my feet shaking as I stood and tried to steady myself. I dragged myself through the door into the living area.

"Amaris" I croaked, my throat feeling dry. There was no response. I moved further through the living area and to the front door. Where was I?

I stepped outside and looked around. It didn't look familiar to me at all.

"You" I heard a sharp voice and turned around. A fall guard was sitting a distance away, glaring at me.

"What are you doing here?" I heard him yell.

"I-I..."

"Get back to the castle" he snapped before I could get any word in.
