Chapter 11

ผู้เขียน: Spring Sun
Inside a lavish room, a woman sobbed uncontrollably, her shoulders trembling as she begged for mercy. Yet her pleas seemed to only fuel the man above her, his movements growing more intense, as if he was releasing all his fury on her.

It wasn't until Ansel let out a groan that the woman finally quieted. The room fell into silence, broken only by their ragged breaths.

After a moment, Sydney relaxed her grip on his shoulders, her eyes still red as she gave him a pout. "You're terrible! I almost couldn't handle it!"

Ansel chuckled, planting a kiss on her neck. "Weren't you the one who started this?"

His kisses made her squirm, and she giggled as she tried to evade him. "Still! You're too much!"

Ansel's throat tightened as he took in her enticing gaze. Just as he was about to make his move again, a deep, resonant bell tolled from outside.

The sound struck him like a hammer pounding his heart, rattling him to his core.

His body tensed, a sudden wave of anxiety crashing over him. A lo

Odessa hesitated briefly, then shook her head. "My fiance is an Aeridian, introduced through a friend of my mother's. He and I are going to have a wedding soon since we're well-suited."Ansel clenched his fists, still unwilling to relent. "It sounds like there isn't much of a deep emotional bond between you two."Odessa retorted with a smile, "What difference does it make? I mean, even if there is, it's not much to speak of."Ansel was at a loss for words. He remained silent for a long time before finally managing a strained, insincere smile. "I wish you all the best, then.""You as well," Odessa replied, offering a polite, distant smile before turning and exiting the cafe.Ansel fixed his gaze on her receding figure, tears slipping down his cheeks one after another. There was no more hope between them—it was over for good.…During her drive home, Odessa noticed a figure that felt both familiar and strangely alien. That woman looked weathered and tired and was dressed in clot

Odessa paid Ansel no further mind and got into the car with Pierre and Gianna. In the end, the housekeeper of the Montclair family, who had been observing the scene before him, couldn't take it anymore. He said with a sigh, "You really ought to go home, Mr. Halberg. You should stop putting yourself through this."Ansel, however, seemed deaf to everything. He was shivering uncontrollably from the cold as he murmured, "I regret it so much now… Why did it all end up like this?"He was roughly jolted back to reality at the sound of the car's engine. He stared, wide-eyed, then frantically ran after it. "Please don't go, Odessa!"His severely weakened body, however, could no longer endure such exertion. He had barely taken a few steps when he suddenly crumpled to the ground, coughed up a mouthful of blood, and lost consciousness.Odessa, seated in the car, reflexively looked back and caught sight of Ansel's desperate fall. His gaunt frame appeared especially desolate in the falling snow

In that instant, the classroom door flew open with a resounding thud, and Ansel stormed in. He ripped the safety charm pendant from the backpack and tossed it onto the ground.Odessa immediately shoved him aside, exclaiming, "Haven't you had enough? What's it to you?"She immediately picked up the safety charm pendant and subsequently apologized to Xavier.Ansel's eyes were bloodshot. "You're going to accept him, aren't you? Why do you have to hurt me like this, Odessa? Why won't you give me a chance?"Odessa rolled her eyes in exasperation. "You should really go get yourself checked into a mental hospital!"Ansel, shaking with fury, spun around and snarled at Xavier, "I'm warning you—Odessa belongs to me! You better stay away from her!"Xavier furrowed his brow and said, "You ought to know that Odessa isn't some possession, Ansel—she's a living, breathing human being and doesn't belong to anyone. If you truly like her, then you should at least respect her." Ansel bellowed, "Wh

Odessa pointed directly at Sydney without a moment's hesitation, saying, "You can sponsor everyone here except for her, Mom, and Dad."Upon hearing that, Pierre and Gianna promptly agreed with a nod, saying, "We'll do as you say, then."Sydney, who had fully expected to secure the scholarship with her excellent grades, was stunned to be dismissed with just one sentence from Odessa. She instantly burst into tears, pleading, "I'm begging you! I desperately need this opportunity! I love reading and learning; I don't want to drop out of school!"Having discerned that Sydney hadn't been reborn, Odessa stated flatly, "You should go seek assistance elsewhere, then. I'll tell you who—the heir of the Halberg family, Ansel Halberg. You might just get what you want if you approach him!"Sydney immediately fell to her knees. "I'm begging you! You're so rich, so it wouldn't hurt you to help just one more person!"Odessa, not wanting to deal with her anymore, simply instructed the bodyguards, "

"Mr. Halberg actually jumped into the lake because of Ms. Montclair! He even ended up with a gash on his forehead! What a display of profound affection!""You ought to know that teenagers nowadays don't know anything about love. They're the most prone to impulsive actions as well. I'm certain Mr. Halberg will regret this when he's older." "You know, Ms. Montclair must be truly ruthless not to be affected by any of that.""I guess Ms. Montclair probably just doesn't appreciate someone being so reckless with their health. It seems like Mr. Halberg had already passed out with a burning fever."Odessa had just returned to her hospital ward when she overheard nurses discussing the evening's incident. She feigned ignorance, went through her evening skincare routine, and then retired for the evening. In the meantime, Ansel was plagued by an unyielding high fever, keeping him in a perpetual daze. In the deep hours of the night, he even began to hallucinate, seeing a teary-eyed Odessa fr

It was already late into the fall, and the weather had grown distinctly cooler, with night temperatures practically mirroring winter. Thus, upon hearing what Odessa said, the assembled onlookers couldn't help but murmur amongst themselves."Isn't that young man still sick? How could that young woman be so cruel to him?""I don't think we should jump to conclusions yet. I mean, who knows what really went down between them?"Just as the onlookers had correctly pointed out, Ansel was indeed still quite ill. He had been running a low fever en route to the hospital and was feeling quite uncomfortable at the moment. He couldn't help but cough a few times as a chill wind swept by, making his complexion even more ashen. "Do you really mean that, Odessa?""It's up to you to believe it or not!" Odessa retorted coldly.Ansel clenched his fists and managed a strained smile. "If that's what you want, then I'll jump!"With that, he charged straight for the artificial lake."Oh no! He's actu
