A rush of white noise followed Mini’s innocently uttered words. It was a dawning comprehension, a hope, an uncertainty. He had longed to hear that permission since he first scented her pheromones. That night had been manic, but in the breath after the chaos, when Allie had stabilised, he had taken his mate in with wonder. She was beautiful, brave in the face of her enemy, gentle as she cared for Allie. She was perfect. He had been ready for her mark then. Since leaving Clear Blue, he had long since come to terms with never finding his mate, but now she was before him, he had no intention of letting her go.

The thought of her going back to that pack without wearing his mark made his skin crawl, but he refused to rush her.
