Three updates today :)
WARD I hear the revving of a car engine out in front of the mansion and I peek out of the window to see that Kayla is pulling up to the front door in her tiny pink sports car. I can't help but chuckle despite the circumstances. Her car fits her personality perfectly. The butler opens the front door for her and she runs into the mansion, straight into Faris's arms. I watch discreetly as he wipes her tears from her cheeks and places a thoughtful kiss on her forehead. There is something more going on here than just a simple friendship between two lycans. But that is none of my business. My business is getting Keena back into Lycan City and never letting her out of my sight ever again. Faris escorts Kayla into his father's office and I finally get a good look at her. Her eyes are red and puffy and her naturally curly blonde hair is disheveled in a messy bun on top of her head. She has on a pair of sweats that are covered in tear stains. She looks like she has been crying a
KEENA"Welcome to the Crescent Moon Pack." Jarek's father looks down on me with a wicked smile. I look up at the older man that is standing above me. He is much older than many of the standing Alphas are, I can tell that just by the thinning of his hair and the wrinkles under his eyes. But as I look at him I can see how he must have looked just like Jarek when he was younger. His hazel eyes are intimidating as they stare down upon me but I refuse to be frightened. If they want a fight that is exactly what they are going to get with me. "Thanks," I say through gritted teeth as I try to sit up in the cramped trunk of the car. As my eyes adjust to the blinding light around me I realize that I am no longer in Colorado. The landscape is void of trees and shrubbery. Brown grass and large cactuses surround a large building, which I can only assume is the pack house of the Crescent Moon Pack. "I need to contact my family," I try to reason with Jarek's father. "They need to kn
KEENADragging me by the arm, Jarek tosses me down the stairs to the dungeon that lies below the Crescent Moon pack house. My shoulder hits the hard cement ground and I cry out in pain. It is clear that even though they may not be able to kill me they will still torture me. Looking up from the floor I can see Jarek walking down the stairs. His teeth are clenched together and sweat is rolling down his forehead. I take a little bit of pride in knowing that he feels someone of my pain through the mate bond. Throwing me over his shoulder, Jarek tosses me on a broken cot in one of the cells. I don't know what hurts worse at the moment. My body or my broken heart. I really thought that he would accept me for who I am, but now I see that was foolish. I was willing to look past his shortcomings because he wasn't willing to look past mine. Jarek slams my cell door shut. I watch as he paces outside of my cell like a caged animal. "You just couldn't have kept your stupid mouth s
JAREKPacing the hall in front of my father's office I try to decide if I am ready for the truth. For the past few weeks the only two things that have been on my mind is Keena and finding out the truth of what my father has done. Unexpectedly, the door to my father's office swings open and an older woman in a blue cloak waltzes out. She looks me over with a smirk on her face. "It is always nice when magic works out like it should," she laughs before she walks past me and down the hall. I can see my father standing in his office with a concerned look on his face. When he notices that I am standing in his doorway he gestures for me to enter. Sitting down on the chair across from my father, I let out a heavy sigh. My body is sore and I know it is because I am feeling Keena's pain through the mate bond. I will have to convince my father to let someone heal her because the dull ache in my body is becoming too much to bear. My father takes his seat behind his desk and the conc
WARD "The dungeons are in the basement of the pack house," King Erebus informs me. "It may not be difficult to cross the borders undetected but getting into the pack house will be difficult." "What do we know about the dungeons?" I ask, wondering if there is a separate entrance. "Unfortunately," the King furrows his eyebrows in frustration, "I don't know much more than what I have already told you." Turning the monitor of the computer in my direction, I click through the floor plans of the Crescent Moon pack house. Frowning when I get to the basement and I notice that the plans are incomplete. "Do you think that you are able to get in with the information that I have provided you with?" The King interrupts my thoughts. "I cannot promise that there won't be any casualties," I warn him. "It will be difficult not to kill those that are in my way." "If we can prove that she was taken against her will, I don't care how many people you kill in order to get her back," the
KEENA I can't sleep. I can't even rest. I toss and turn on the little cot in my cell, trying to get comfortable. But there is little comfort to be found in this dark and damp dungeon. Laying on my back I stare at the ceiling and pray to the Moon Goddess to offer me some sort of relief, but she does not appear to be listening. Just as I am about to drift off into, what I can only assume will be, a restless sleep; when a searing pain bursts through my chest. With no one around to see my weakness, I scream out loudly in pain. Once again it feels like I am being stabbed through the heart and every cell in my body feels like it is on fire. I know this pain now. It is the pain of my mate sleeping with another woman. Tears stream down my face as I clutch my heart and look up at the ceiling, praying for the pain to pass quickly. But it doesn't. If anything, it seems to be lasting forever. Minutes turn into hours and the pain in my chest burns just as painfully as it did when i
KEENAMy sweatshirt has been stripped from my body and the cold table that I am laying on causes me to shiver. Seven women in blue cloaks are standing around me, examining the runes that are on my arms. Their fingers are cold as they poke and prod at my arms. "They were smart," Sister Jasper mumbles to the other witches surrounding me. "Only she can break the spell that binds her magic."I lay quietly on the metal table and try to listen to everything that they are saying. If they know how I can break the binding spells on my arms, I might be able to use my magic to escape from this pack. "Don't you want to use your powers?" One of the witches asks me gently. "All you have to do is to break the spells that mar your arms." "Certainly you don't want to have these ugly runes on your beautiful skin," another witch says sweetly. I keep my eyes trained on the ceiling, refusing to answer any of their questions. One of the witches grabs my injured ankle and digs her fingers into
JAREKI am sitting in my father's office watching him pace back and forth like a mad man. The floor shakes as each one of his footsteps grows heavier than the last. I know that he spoke to Keena's father earlier today. I do not know what was said but apparently it was not good. "Would you stop pacing and tell me what is going on?" I grumble at him. "The King is coming for his daughter," my father chokes out. "I can only assume that he is going to bring the royal guard with him." "I thought you said they wouldn't come for her," I growl loudly. "She is my fated mate, they cannot just take her from me." "They can if they know she didn't come here willingly," the wrinkles on my father's face become more and more deep as he continues to pace his office. "And why would they know that?" I try to remain calm. "I had to ask for the amulet somehow," sweat is forming on my father's brow and dripping down his face. "We have to leave," I say, trying not to panic. "Let's take
