Damien's POV

I stood and watched over the large expanse of land before me.

BloodHowl Kingdom

Just as it's name was, it was built on the blood of thousands of wolves. Strong warriors who laid down their lives to protect their families, and now it was mine to protect.

My father had handed his empire to me even though I was not the first son, and not the rightful heir.

But I was the only son who fought side by side with him, almost losing my life more than a few times.

I was the only one who didn't spend all my time in the Harem, impregnating women that were not my mate, but rather I studied the politics and war strategies that BloodHowl was run on.

My thoughts went back to the day my Father was on his death bed and called for all his sons. I was the last son and nowhere near the throne, but he called me forward and placed the Lycan crown on my head.

I could almost physically feel the fury of my elder brothers resting on me, but even in their anger, they all managed to compose themselves before the dying Lycan King.

All except one, the eldest, Thorne.

His princely robes shred to pieces as every bone in his body enlarged, transforming him into Dagger, his fierce wolf.

He had pounced on me, his claws slashing the skin on my face. I quickly shifted and threw him off me, making an attack.

Thorne's wolf was large, but his laziness and lack of interest in fighting battles and harnessing his skills made Dagger weak.

It didn't take long for me to pin him down and I held him till he shifted back to his human form, his torn robe clinging to his body.

My father had cursed him with his last breath and banished him from BloodHowl.

Thorne turned his back at us and left the King's chambers, swearing to return with vengeance and rain hell on BloodHowl.

"You will regret passing over me father" he had said, his chest rising and falling at every word. "You will regret taking my throne and giving it to this worthless filth. I will take back what is mine, and I will make sure you turn in your grave at how I will destroy everything you've built" he said before shifting into his wolf and bolting out of the palace with immense speed.

Ever since that day, I had been looking over my shoulders.

Most of the elders had asked me not to bother about Thorne, but I knew my brother, and I knew he didn't make empty threats.

But Thorne wasn't always like that. We were inseparable as young pups, but as soon as our mother died, he lost himself and became bitter and full of rage.

My chamber door clicked open, arresting my train of thoughts and bringing me back to reality.

"My Lord"

It was my beta and closest friend, Akan.

"How was your meditation?"

I had been secluding myself for meditations every week, to seek counsel from the moon goddess. But she was mostly quiet, ignoring my pleas for guidance or for some sign, but today was different.

"My meditation went well, as usual" I replied keeping my voice low and still staring outside my window.

"What did Rhea request for?" I asked turning to Akan

"She asked that a certain girl she brought be allowed to stay and serve in the palace."

A certain girl?

Was that what I felt when Akan was shutting the door?

Usually, during my meditations, I would burn incense to the moon goddess, and the flames would die down without a sign, or a word.

But today, just as Akan was leaving my chamber, the flames lit up brightly and suddenly went off.

And I felt it. Something I had never felt before. My wolf stirred within me with a thirst that was overwhelming.

I tried to turn to see if who or what could be causing that was outside, but the door was already shut. But all of that couldn't possibly be because of some slave girl.

"What about Montanne, how is she?"

Akan's expression quickly shifted to a frown. He never liked Montanne for anything and I couldn't understand why.

"She's there, being her usual demanding self" he said dismissively.

"You know you shouldn't speak about my mate like that" I said walking towards him.

Akan had always been my side since I was just a pup. He was stronger and faster than I was, I couldn't deny that, but he was also loyal to the death.

"She's not your mate Damien, she's the mate your father chose for you before he died" he said, his words sharp and uncoated.

"I won't have one more word of that from you Akan. She's my betrothed and I love her" I said, ending any form of opposition. But as much as I tried to deny it, those words seemed to be coming from my lips and nowhere deeper.

"I would be careful if I were you Damien" he murmured "I do not like her excessive interest in BloodHowl's political affairs"

"I'll take care of that" I quickly added to appease him "she means well, afterall she will soon be Queen of BloodHowl"

Akan sneered quietly, but I still caught it.

"There is a more serious issue on ground Damien" he said, his face forming a frown.

"It's about your brother, Thorne Blackwood"

My heart skipped a beat when I heard Thorne's name. I had spent these few years wondering where he was, what he was doing, if he was safe.

And I hoped against all odds that he had moved on to another kingdom and found a mate and raised a family of his own, forgetting his grievances against BloodHowl.

But the Thorne I knew never forgot, and he never forgave.

"What about him? How is he doing?" I asked, masking any tone of worry or concern.

"It is rumored that he was mated to the princess of MoonShire Pack"

MoonShire Pack...

I remember my father taking me there once when I was a child for a peace treaty. Their Kingdom was powerful and their Moonstone heritage was rich.

"Well then, that is wonderful news" I said, relieved that Thorne had settled down and found a mate.

"Not quite your majesty" Akan quickly added. I stared at him with a questioning expression.

"His bride and her family had...an accident" he paused for a second "All of them are dead, and he has lost his wife. He is now the King of MoonShire"

We both stared at ourselves. We didn't say anything, but we both understood exactly what was going on.

My fingers brushed against the scar that Thorne gave me, a permanent mark on my skin to forever remember that dreadful day.

Having known Thorne almost all our lives, we both knew he didn't 'lose' his wife and her family.

He killed them.

The throne was mine already.Their perfumes filled the room and they were all elegantly dressed with their tea tables set in front of them.I walked into the room, wearing my crimson gown that touched the floor behind me lightly. They all kept quiet and stood up when they saw me and bowed lightly. I gave them a soft smile, though it clearly didn't reach my eyes.I knew what they were here for, and how much envy they were filled with."Please sit ladies" I said, taking my seat at the centre of the room

The only woman I was willing to defy Montanne for.The room looked a mess, the sheets were off and the bed was scattered. My stomach churned in disgust.Had they really... on that bed?I clenched my fists and restrained my wolf from growling. But then I noticed even the curtains around the bath were missing. What the hell had gone on in here?”I tucked the locket away in my coat pocket and bowed slightly."Your maje—""That's enough" he cut me off. He carried Elda in his arms and laid her on the bed gently. She looked shaken and scared and I became even more confused."Follow me" Damien said, his eyes caught mine with no expression in them."Wait!" Elda yelled as I turned to f

Elowen's POVHolding back my tears didn't seem to work. They rolled down my cheeks without a fight. I felt lost and confused.Even though I couldn't remember anything from my life before the sea accident that washed me ashore, that locket gave me hope that I would one day find my home.It was the only thing I knew I owned and without it, there was no trace of where I came from, I had absolutely nothing.I was feeling a bit better now, the pains I felt at my back form the whips were less and the scars were healing. This should have been the perfect time for me to leave BloodHowl, but I couldn't leave now, not without my locket.I was sure it was Montanne who took it. There was no one else I could think of. I had to think of a plan to get it back from her.I looked around the room I was in. Damien's POVI stood before a long table that stretched from one side of the room to the other. On either sides of the tables there were seats arranged, and on each of the seats, the oldest and most powerful wolves in BloodHowl sat.The Council of Ordeal. They were the same council that guided my father during his reign, and most of them had preferred Thorne as King. It turned out that while I was horning my skills as a warrior and fighting alongside my Father, Thorne was going around seeking favor from the Council, and no doubt, greasing their palms with costly things, maybe even promising to mate their daughters and make them LunasBut while the Council of Ordeal had power, the final decision for who would be the next King laid solely on my Father. The Council had tried to persuade him to chose Thorne, but his mind was made up, and now I was left to work with wolves who didn't like me, but were loyal to BloodHowl nonetheless.Their faces were fixed on mine, waiting for answers and

Hares' POV I opened the door of the courtroom and saw Montanne seating on the high chair. The room was large and empty, any sound above a whisper would definitely echo in here. There was an oppressive air in the room, though I couldn't tell if it was because of her presence or the fact that it was the courtroom where ladies of high standing came in and gossiped about everything that was none of their business. She was grinning and her face seemed bright, which was a rare thing to see because she was always dissatisfied with one thing or the other. "Hares'!" She exclaimed with a wide once in a blue moon smile on her face "how good to see you little brother""You saw me just yesterday" I said coldly. I knew the only thing that made her happy was doing something terrible to someone else or hurting them. That was what gave her joy, asides Damien's attention of course, which she rarely got."Oh, don't be so grumpy" she said sauntering towards me."Well, that's rich coming from you" I

Hares' POVI pinned her to the wall and helped myself to a taste of her full lips as my hands trailed beneath her dress. She kept shifting and moving, checking to see if anyone was coming, which made me enjoy the fun of the moment a lot less."Hares" she muttered in between the breath my mouth barely gave hers "what if someone sees us?" her breathing became heavier. I pulled back for a while, locking my eyes unto hers. That was the seducing power. The one thing I learnt in WhiteCrescent Kingdom before I was forced to follow Montanne here to protect her, as her personal guide, and even though she hated to regard me as such, her half brother.I was probably becoming a nuisance among the women in WhiteCrescent, thus my punishment, by my mother, the Queen, of following Montanne as a guide...not servant. Even though she loved to address me as such.BloodHowl.I hated everything about this place...asides their women. Their women were beautiful, especially the women at the maid's quarte

Elowen's POVI was in a white flowing dress and I stood in front of a tall broad chested man. His blonde hair fell over his shoulders and his green eyes stared into mine.I looked back into his, enchanted. But that enchantment broke suddenly when he grabbed my neck and squeezed it tightly.I struggled to release myself from his grip, my nails scraped against his skin, but he held on tighter. I began to feel my last breath leaving me.He leaned in closer and whispered into my ears, his clutch still tight on my neck."So you're still alive, Elowen?" He said menacingly, his every word brushing air against my skin "I'm coming for you soon, and this time, I'll make sure you don't survive" My neck snapped as he strengthened his grip.I woke up panting and sweating, holding my neck as though it would fall of my head from the impact. It took a while before I could recollect myself and finally convince my mind that it was just a dream.Elowen? • The Lycan's Luna: Reclaiming her Throne   Chapter Thirteen: The Stolen Locket

Montanne’s POVI trailed my fingers from his lips down to his chest. His heavy breathing brushed lightly against my skin.He was all mine—the Mighty King Damien—and I would die before I let him go to another woman.I stood up and covered myself with my robe. He seemed tired, so I let him sleep and get some rest while I took a bath and got dressed.I left him in the chambers quietly and went to the courtroom.Today was a special day because I was expecting some of the court ladies from BloodHowl for a tea party.I was going to be the Luna of this pack, so I obviously needed to mingle, get to know the women of the court, and gain their favor. To become a court lady, a woman’s husband had to be part of the King's chambermen—a close group of advisors he relied on.If I gained favor with the court ladies, they could convince their husbands, the chambermen, that I was right for Damien, ensuring there would be no opposition on their part.I would have a very smooth ride to the throne, right

Elowen's POVI felt the warmth of his hands lifting me up from the cold floor and carrying me out of the prison walls. It all seemed blurry now. Maybe it was just a dream.I tried to sit up and look around, but that slight movement only sent a searing pain across my back. I winced and laid back down."Easy now honey" a stern voice came through from beside my bed. I turned to look at who it was.My vision was still a bit blurry, but I could make out his orange hair and golden eyes. Those features seemed familiar. And that voice...I felt my hands on the bed. It was soft and the sheets scented of roses. The room was dimly lit and I smelled burning incense and herbal medicines. This was certainly not the maid's quarters.I blinked rapidly trying to clear the haze from my vision. The man beside me shifted and I felt his golden eyes watching over me."I was really worried about you Elda." Even though I recognized the voice, it came softer than I remembered."I'm sorry I couldn't protect yo
