Chapter Ten

SCARLET'S POV

I jolted up from my bed, panting heavily like I had just completed a marathon. I stared at the whitewashed ceiling as I tried to catch my breath.

I had a nightmare, a gruesome one. I didn’t want to even recall what I saw but it was too scary to forget.

What could it mean? I couldn't wrap my head around it, no matter how hard I tried.

I opened the bottle of water sitting on my desk and gulped it down. I wiped my forehead which was dripping with sweat and exhaled.

The door to the room flung open seconds later. My mother stood in front of me, looking concerned.

"Honey, are you okay? I heard you screaming.” She inched toward me and placed her hand on my forehead. “You’re burning up.”

I shook my head slightly. “It’s nothing really serious mum. I just had a nightmare.”

"Are you sure you’re okay?”

“Yes.” I breathed. “I guess it’s normal with everything that’s been going on. It was just really scary.”

“Everything is going to be fine, okay?”

I nodded.
