Chapter 0002

Kiran gave him several other pills. Then, he got up to continue heading toward the washroom.

“My God! Is this real? H-He’s a miracle doctor!” Adrian cried out in shock.

The woman and the other people in the compartment felt like they were dreaming. Everything felt just so surreal.

The director of Bayville Hospital’s cardiology department had been unable to save the old man, but Kiran had managed to do it with just a few pills!

Kiran did not realize what they were thinking.

He did, however, walk to the washroom in the next compartment because he was still unsettled by his nightmare. He was also embarrassingly sweaty from it.

Half an hour later, the train arrived at Bayville.

Kiran got out of the train and walked out of the train station.

Then, four burly men blocked his path.

Kiran frowned and thought. “Does the Xander family know that I’m here? Are they going to force me to marry Snow Xander?”

His expression turned cold when he thought of that possibility. Rage swelled in his chest. Just when he was about to start yelling at them, an old man called out to him.

“Don’t misunderstand, my boy.”

Kiran looked toward the voice, and he saw the old man he had saved on the train just now.

The animosity within him faded, but he remained on guard. “What is it?”

“Thank you for saving my life.” The old man sent away the four burly men with a wave of his hand. He then walked over with the woman supporting him. Once he was in front of Kiran, he extended his hand. “What’s your name?”

“I don’t think it’s necessary for me to introduce myself.” Kiran knew that the Xander family was one of the richest families in Bayville. He was worried that plenty of people would want to get to know them. Therefore, he did not want to give away his name. He was afraid that the old man might sell him out to the Xander family later.

The old man did not mind. He just nodded. “You don’t look like you’re from around here. Would you mind having a chat in my car?”

Kiran frowned and wanted to reject his request, but he noticed that the woman beside him was frowning in deep thought.

He could see that the old man was no ordinary man. The Xander family was definitely not going to let him cancel the engagement. After all, no one would actually be willing to marry Snow Xander.

Anyone would be worried about Snow Xander croaking in the next minute due to her weight. Who would want a spouse who could not take care of herself?

Most importantly, he did not know anything about the Xander family, while they knew about him. This was unfair. Perhaps he could get some useful information from the old man.

Kiran nodded.

Delighted, the old man beckoned Kiran into the car.

Kiran, the woman, and the old man sat in an elongated Lincoln and sent everyone else away.

“I’m Harold Xander. What’s your name, young man?” the old man asked with a smile.

“Xander?” Kiran did not offer his name in return. He even appeared wary and tense.

The woman wanted to stand up, but Harold stopped her.

“You seem to be angry with the Xander family, young man,” the old man commented.

“Are there multiple Xander families in Bayville?” Kiran asked.

Harold raised his hands and extended a finger on each hand.

The woman was shocked. There was only one Xander family in Bayville. What was Harold trying to imply?

Kiran sighed in relief. By the looks of it, Harold was not part of the Xander family to which Snow Xander belonged. After all, if Harold had such a beautiful and healthy-looking granddaughter, there was no way he would allow another one of his granddaughters to become morbidly obese.

When Harold saw Kiran relaxing, he asked kindly, “Do you have a grudge against the Xander family?”

Kiran shook his head and pulled a long face. “I don’t hold a grudge against them. I’m just engaged to someone from that family.”

Engaged?

Harold was shocked, but delight flashed in his eyes.

Was the young man Kiran York?

The woman’s frown became even more pronounced.
