Chapter Nineteen—The Alpha’s affair **AURORA** “Don’t go.” Asher murmured an hour later, his breath caressed my neck as our naked bodies laid next to each other. It felt nice being wrapped around by his big arms, I felt a cloak of warm protection around me, forgetting the danger I was in last night, and just relished in the moment of being so close to him. What hapoened between us, the merging of our bodies, it was unlike anything I’ve ever felt. He was gentle, too gentle even for my taste, soft and caring. His touch felt like being caressed by an outwardly being itself, each caress making my body dance to his tune. “I have to,” I murmured, “ I have a job remember?” He turned me around to face him. Colors of embarrassment rose in my cheeks as I felt shy for some reason. I wasn’t new to being with a man, but with Asher Blackwood it was different. I felt my body and soul dancing to a whole new song, one I didn’t think was possible. He touched me in pla
Chapter Eighteen—Identity(2) “I don’t know what to say.” He muttered, clearly evading my eyes. “You could start by telling me how this hosue exists.” I replied, glancing around. I still couldn’t believe it. Being in such an expensive manor, one which I’ve only seen in the magazines Madeline reads with her fake posh accent. How does it exist in Midnight Bay? Away from the prying eyes of the nosy townspeople?? Asher brushed past me to sit on the edge of the bed, “This place was built by my family generations ago.” “Generational wealth,” I murmured, “Perfect.” He frowned and I couldn’t help but be amused, hence the smile on my face, “I’m sorry. Go on.” He sighed deeply, “It’s really not concealed, just uphill.” I nodded in acknowledgment. The poeple of Midnight Bay were the superstitious kind and anything related to uphill, right across the woods, they tend to stay away. Probably why such a beautiful mansion went under the radar for so
Chapter Seventeen—Identity**ASHER** “What do you mean blood?” I was tensed. Dinah was no fool, obnoxious maybe, but she was no fool. She frowned deeply, “I know what I smell.” Monty stepped up, “You know, now that she talks about it. I smell something funny too, not blood but a boatload of flowers. The house has never smelt this strong of daffodils before has it?” “We’re renovating.” I murmured. Monty, not the type to probe any further just shrugged and left the house. The others followed, which was a relief. Dinah, her ever inquisitive self decided to stay back as she wasn’t budging until her questions were answered. There was an awkward silence in the living room. Only the crackling of wood by the fireplace could be heard. I gulped hard, focusing my eyes on it so as to evade her curious gaze, she wasn’t happy about it, “Ash…” “Yes??” “Is there something going on with you?” She asked again, “You know you can tell me anyth
Chapter Sixteen—The Pack(2) “What do you mean the Pack’s here?!!” I said out loud, not believing my ears. Reagan’s brows raised, “You’re forgetting something.” I froze for a moment and then my eyes widened as I remembered. Tonight was the spring’s solstice, a night where every member of the pack gathered to celebrate another year of being safe from danger. This was bad. They had superhuman abilities and that included a super sense of smell. I was doomed, if they found out about Aurora she was in even more danger than she was as of the moment. “Daffodils.” I muttered. “What?” Reagan was confused. It was a foul method, one used by her attacker which was ironic but it still worked for me, and that meant it would shield Aurora away from their prying noses. “Get daffodils Reagan, from the back, cover Aurora with it.” I muttered as I took a deep breath, “I’ll be back.” **DINAH** I felt something inside my blood rising as I watch
Chapter Fifteen—The Pack I could hear her faint murmurs as I ran up the stairs. Her state of breathing had gotten so much worse, and I feared that I might’ve made the wrong decisions bringing her into my home. “Please stay with me.” I whispered, for the first time as an alpha I felt real fear, “Aurora…please stay.” “As….ash…” She drawled. “Yes?” I answered, looking down as I placed her he gently on the bed. Her eyes remained faintly open, her injured head staining the pristine white pillows with it’s bloody self. The guilt ate me alive. This was all my fault. If only I had stayed away that night. Sent her away from monsoon creek and never returned, none of this would’ve happened. It was clear her attacker was a werewolf, one of my pack members if need be but I couldn’t figure it out yet. I shook my head vigorously as it throbbed from the aftereffects of wolfsbane. What was a werewolf doing with something like that?? She moan
Chapter Fourteen—A faltering connection Our lips were about to touch, as I was ready to receive him fully. The mere tension I felt was enough to make my mouth water. Asher smelled good, a manly musk that sent chills down my spine. I felt his hands around the corner of my waist, pulling me close until I was up against his chest, his height didn’t pay me no bother until this moment where I realized how dangerously tall he was. He leaned closer again, it was like a cruel game , waiting to break my resolve. He was tempting me, knowing that I fully wanted him and still goading me into his will—I hated myself, hated myself for plunging right into his trap. Whatever he was trying to do was working. “Ash…..” I finally drawled, my voice low and husky. “Ash??” He smiled. I loved his smile, full and yet still carried a mystery. I shrugged, “It suits you.” Then I paused for a moment when he tilted my chin up as I tried to evade his eyes, “Ash….”
Chapter Thirteen—An Unsure Goodbye I stared at her blankly, feeling a sense of dread by the passing minute, wondering if I should tell the truth or not. She was a human, one I found a connection with and I, a werewolf, one of the strongest in my bloodline. An Alpha. I gulped hard, “I uhh…I…. She gawked like a hawk for a minute, waiting for a response which made my senses tingle into a state of panic, moments later she bursted into a fit of laughter, “Oh my God!!” “What?” I blinked, hiding the exasperation I felt. “You should’ve seen your face!!” She laughed again pointing hard at me, “A werewolf?? Come on even I’m not that crazy! There’s no way those mythical creatures actually exist do they?” “Right.” I answered curtly. Oh Aurora, if only she knew the truth. Those mythical creatures do exist, because I am one of them. The strongest of my pack, Asher Blackwood, a descendant of one of the strongest creatures in history.
Chapter Twelve—The Truth Or A Myth I never scrubbed so hard and worked so diligently at the Diner before, just so I could call in an early night to finish my masterpiece at monsoon creek. Madeline questioned me minutes later after Asher left about Jeremy Beaufort, in my usual sense of self I lied through my teeth about not knowing anything. I just hoped Asher didn’t kill him. As much as I was captivated with the man, and his beautiful eyes, and the secrets he definitely had underneath them, itching an artist like myself to uncover…I still couldn’t help but feel a sense of unease arounf him. A sense of danger. A normal human would stay away. I, Aurora Thompson, an orphan with no relatives except for the wicked witch of the east end wasn’t a normal human. I quickly finished all my chores, as soon as I could spot the darkness from the window outside. The moon was sparse tonight, but the stars had their part to play in making it a little bright.
Chapter Eleven—The Unfinished Mural(2) “Asher!!” I cried out as I ran behind him. At the moment, a sense of safe filled me greatly. A man I once claimed to be a creep, now was my only source of protection. Jeremy rolled his eyes, “Is this him? The asshole after my girl?” Asher paid his question no heed and faced me instead, “Do you know this man?” “Yes,” I nodded with a frown on my face, “He’s Jeremy Beaufort. The mayor’s son.” “I don’t think I’ve seen you around,” Jeremy said to Asher, in a defensive stance, “Out of town perhaps? Midnight Bay isn’t open to strangers.” Asher shot him a daring look, I felt his hands over mine, clutching hard. He had an immense amount of strength, one unlike any human I’ve seen before. Who was this man exactly? “Aurora??” He said to me, “Go in will you?” I shook my head stubbornly, “You’re not getting rid of me this time.” He squeezed my hand lightly, “Please.” I opened my mou
