•GISELLE•

“I’m sorry, Miss Sullivan, but our company is withdrawing from the Travel and Tourism in Asia Website project. We pride ourselves on working with trustworthy and reliable businesspeople. We wish you the best in your future endeavors.” Another investor in my project dropped me just like that in two days.

My twins’ surgery was yet to be confirmed, and I had to deal with losing clients and investors in my new business.

Three investors dropped out, and they didn’t give me a straight answer.

I worked so hard to get where I was with the website, and I wanted it to be successful. My heart broke when people pulled out of it without straight answers.

“Miss Sullivan—” Chloe approached me on the balcony of my hotel, and I sighed when she leaned forward with a tablet in her hand.

“Please don’t tell me I’ve lost another investor,” I groaned as I sat on the couch and covered my face with my hands.

“There are articles about you and your businesses. The journalists said you scammed the bank then made a new system to stop anyone else from hacking it. They believe you’re the one who hacked it and later covered your tracks when you got hired to secure its system.”

“That can’t be possible!” I stood up from the couch and took the tablet from her. “How could I have hacked the bank?”

“They don’t think you could’ve made all the money you have in five years with twins. Do you think we should release a statement to defend all these fabricated lies against your brand?”

“No, Chloe,” I sighed, giving her back the tablet. “If we say anything, it will be suspicious, and people will know we are trying to manage the damage. Is Hen Young still on board?”

“No,” she shrugged. She emailed you an hour ago that she’s not helping with your project. She said nothing about the articles when I asked her why she had pulled out of the collaboration. “

‘Fuck.’ I felt as if I had failed in everything I had planned to do. Hen Young was going to be my partner once I had launched the website, and I thought she would make the entire experience very interesting since she was from Asia.

“That’s not right,” I groaned as I picked up my cell phone from the counter. “Someone is trying to tarnish my name and make me lose business! Ugh!” I growled, sitting on the couch.

“You’re the best IT specialist in the world, Miss Sullivan. I know you’ll find the people who did this and make them pay for the damage they have done.”

“Thank you, Chloe. Is there any information about my kids? I haven’t been with them since morning.”

“Oh, yeah. I wanted to tell you that Mr. Blackwood is with them.”

“Again?” I scoffed. “What does he want?”

“I’m sure he means no harm, ma’am. Maybe he will save the twins even though you’re not willing to grant him and Octavia custody of the twins.”

“If he wants me to give up my twins so he can look after them with Octavia, he must bury me alive. It won’t happen.” I took my car keys and cell phone from the counter.

“He’s the only one who has the same DNA match with the twins.”

“Don’t you think I know that, Chloe? Noah humiliated me and hurt me when he ordered me to have an abortion for a pregnancy we both planned. He wasn’t even there when I struggled with my kids for an entire year to ask me for custody. That would be over my dead body.”

“He’s their father, ma’am. So, I hope you will reach a common ground with him so he will save the twins by donating his stem cells. They have little time left on their side.”

“Make a post and tell them I’ll pay five million dollars for anyone who has the same HLA profile match with my twins and can donate their stem cells.”

“Ma’am?” Chloe called behind me, but I was already heading out.

I got into my car and drove to the hospital, huffing and hoping Noah didn’t come with Octavia to see the twins.

When I got there and found him alone in the hospital room with the twins, I felt relieved, but I headed toward them, still wondering what Noah hoped he would achieve by getting close to my children when he didn’t want them.

“Mommy!” Aurora and Adrian squealed when they saw me walking inside the room. “You’re back!”

“Hey guys, did you rest?” I smiled, avoiding looking at Noah. He disgusted me.

“Daddy brought us breakfast and read us a story when we woke up. He’s the best daddy in the world!” Adrian answered, giggling.

“Oh, that’s sweet of him. Did he tell you when he’s going to work?” I asked as I kissed them both on their foreheads.

“Giselle,” Noah scoffed. “I’m right here.”

“Mommy wants to have a word with Daddy, okay? I’ll be back soon.”

“Are you mad, Mommy? Daddy didn’t mean to make you angry. He only brought us food,” Adrian answered when I pulled away from them.

“What? No, baby. I’m not mad. I’m okay with your daddy bringing you breakfast. He did well.” I glanced at Noah and pointed to the door.

He got up and kissed the kids before we walked out to talk outside the door.

“What are you doing here?”

“I want to save them, Giselle. I expect nothing from you but a relationship with them. They are my kids, and I can’t imagine my life without them anymore.”

“I thought you weren’t willing to save their lives unless I gave you custody of them.”

“I’ve changed—” Before Noah could finish his sentence, there was a group of people heading toward us with cameras, and when the journalist in front asked to ask me a few questions, Noah pulled me into the medicine storage room and closed the door.

“Gosh, I don’t know how they found me.”

“I saw the articles, and I wanted to make you a deal.” He looked at me, his face a few inches from mine while my back was against the door.

“Make me a deal?”

“I can make this go away if you agree I donate my stem cells for the twins and sign a prenuptial agreement with me. I’ll tell the press that this was a stall for our engagement.”

  • The Poor Billionaire Heiress Returns!   EPILOGUE: Chapter 0139

•GISELLE•[THIRTY-ONE YEARS LATER]The house was full during the holidays when our kids and grandkids came to visit us. Christmas had always been important to us, but now it meant something more meaningful, because every year we were still here felt like a gift that neither of us took for granted. Our children had arrived days ago, filling every bedroom and every corner of the house with their presence. And now our grandchildren filled the spaces in between, and every time I looked at them, I was reminded that everything Noah and I had endured had been worth it.Twenty-two grandchildren.Even now, the number amazed me.They were everywhere. My goodness. I didn't even know their names. It was hard now to memorize names or anything, but Twenty-two was a great number to remember. Some of them were gathered around the dining table, finishing the last of the desserts that had taken hours to prepare, while others sat on the floor near the fireplace, talking quietly with each other. A fe

•NOAH•It had taken weeks of planning and quiet coordination to make sure everything at home would continue without us for one evening. We needed some time away from the children, and the constant movement inside our house that never truly seemed to rest. Giselle and I hadn’t had a moment that belonged only to the two of us in longer than I wanted to admit. As I sat across from her now in the restaurant, I realized how much I had missed simply being with her without interruption or urgency pulling us away. The restaurant wasn't packed, and it had all the favorite foods that Giselle and I used to enjoy before we had our third child. I had chosen it carefully because I wanted this night to be free from distraction, free from expectation, and free from everything that had defined our lives for so many years.Giselle looked beautiful. And as she sat there with her hands resting lightly on the table, I couldn't stop myself from thinking about how much time had passed since the first day

•AURORA•The bright lights above me were harsh and too bright as I stood in the middle of the set with dozens of people moving around me and cameras positioned at every possible angle. I reminded myself to stay focused and remember every emotion my character was supposed to feel, even though my mind kept drifting to how strange it was that this had become my life. There had once been a time when I was just another girl running through the halls of our home with my brothers and sisters, laughing without responsibility, without expectation, and without knowing that one day millions of people would watch my face on screens and believe every word I said.“Places, everyone!” the director called out loudly, and the noise around me began to quiet as the crew prepared for the next scene.I took my position, standing near the large window that had been built specifically for this set. I stared outside even though there was nothing real beyond it. My character was supposed to hate the man

•ADRIAN•[FIFTEEN YEARS LATER]Two years had passed since the day my father handed me the responsibility of protecting everything he had built. Even though I had been young when he first started teaching me about the business, I now understood the full weight of carrying the Blackwood name and making decisions that affected thousands of people who depended on our company for their livelihood and stability. Every morning I woke up before sunrise and walked into an office where everyone looked at me with expectation and respect. I never complained about the pressure because I knew my father had carried it long before me, and I wanted him to be proud of the man I had become. That afternoon, I left the office later than I had planned because a meeting with investors had taken longer than expected. As I stepped out of the building and got into my car, I loosened my tie and exhaled slowly, trying to release the tension that always stayed in my shoulders after hours of serious discussion

•ASHLEY•[FIVE YEARS LATER]Sometimes it still felt unreal to me how much life could change in five years. There had been a time when I couldn’t even imagine surviving another month without feeling like I was falling apart. But now I was sitting in the passenger seat of Atlas’s car with our daughter asleep in the backseat, watching the familiar streets of Chicago come into view as my heart filled with anticipation.I glanced back at Chelsea, who was fast asleep in her car seat, her small head tilted slightly to the side and her lips parted, and I smiled softly because she was the greatest gift life had given me after everything I had endured.Atlas reached for my hand and squeezed it gently, his thumb brushing over my skin in a way that grounded me instantly.“Are you nervous?” he muttered.I shook my head. “No,” I answered. “I’m happy.”He smiled at me before returning his attention to the road, and I leaned back in my seat, my chest tightening slightly as memories of the past mixed

•GISELLE•The sound of the gunshot was so loud and sudden that my body reacted before my mind could understand what was happening. But I felt Noah’s hands shove me down hard against the porch floor as his body covered mine completely, shielding me while my ears rang and my heart began to pound so violently that I thought I might lose consciousness. For a few seconds, I couldn't breathe properly because fear had locked my chest. All I could think about were the twins and whether they had been hurt. Their voices had been right behind us only moments before everything changed.I heard movement, footsteps, and then the sound of a car engine starting. For a moment, the entire scenario reminded me of what happened at the restaurant when I was with Connor. He died as well trying to protect me. Noah lifted his head, his body still covering mine as he looked toward the driveway. I turned my head enough to see a dark car speeding away from the front of the house, its tires screeching as it

•OCTAVIA•“Noah!” I laughed, squirming under his hands. “Stop tickling me! Do you want me to pee on the bed? My bladder’s already working overtime, thanks to these pregnancy hormones!”He grinned, looking way too proud of himself. Honestly, seeing how happy he was about the baby made my heart melt.
