Shane’s POV.

The week went by like usual, work, coming home to the kids, homework battles, dinner, and trying to keep the house from falling apart.

Before I knew it, Friday had arrived.

Earlier that morning I called my baby Maya.

“I’m not gonna make it today,” I told her. “I’ll see you Saturday. The kids are spending some time at my mom’s tomorrow.”

“And Shane Jr.?” she asked.

“He’s still on punishment, so he’s going too. He’s not happy about it, but it is what it is.”

She laughed softly. “That

I wrote a chapter last night (I am not trying to spoil it because its much later on the series) that was between Shane and Isla that I literally cried once I finished it.

Isla did't make the kids clean up and snapped at Shane. That's why he's divorcing your ass. You don't even try to keep him interested. She is in a rude awaken when she confronts Maya. Shane deserves better.

I would have stayed and talked it out. Sometimes adults can have a better resolution working together. Her parents abruptly leaving, only says they don't know their daughter and the school should have notified both parents, not just Shane. Isla knew tey were having guess over and did't make the

  • The Price of Peace: Book 3 In The No More Regrets Series   Epilogue 4.3

Maya’s POV One Week Before the Wedding “Okay, girl, let me see the dress!” I could hear Keisha squealing from outside the fitting room. Sienna was laughing, and beneath all of that? Babies. So many fucking babies. Not just mine either. Sienna had brought the twins. Keisha had Baby Mabel and little Miles. My Double G’s were out there too. We had somehow turned wedding dress shopping into a playdate. I stared at myself in the mirror and sighed. “Okay,” I called out. “Here we go.” I looked down at my stomach. Hopefully, I didn’t look pregnant, because I was absolutely pregnant, but apparently, I had some kind of magical genes because my stomach still wasn’t really protruding. It mostly looked like I had eaten a really good meal. I turned slightly and looked at the dress again. It was simple but sleek. A straight A-line silhouette with an off-the-shoulder look, two thin spaghetti straps, and a soft sweetheart neckline. Nothing too dramatic. It looked like me. That was wha

Shane's POV Continued His eyes widened.“What?”“Keep your voice down.”He leaned forward.“Again?”“Yes.”“Damn.”“And don’t say anything. We’re not telling anybody yet.”He grinned.“How far along?”“Four months.”His mouth dropped open.“Four months?”I laughed.“I know.”“I just saw Maya last week. She’s barely showing.”“That’s how she is.”I rubbed the back of my neck.“Even with Gabby, she barely showed in old pictures. The twins were the real shock.”“No shit.”“This time, we made damn sure there was only one.”Crandon laughed.“So no surprise Baby B?”“No.”“Thank God.”“She found out around two months, so it wasn’t anywhere near as dramatic as last time.”He shook his head.“Congratulations, man.”“Thanks.”“And this is it?”“Oh, absolutely.”I pointed at him.“She already said she’s getting her tubes tied, burned, clipped, removed, whatever the hell they can legally do.”He burst out laughing.“We are done.”“Smart man.”“I love my kids, but enough is enough.”Crandon smil

Shane’s POV Seven Weeks LaterI sighed as I sat behind my desk.Technically, I was supposed to be working, but I had finished almost everything on my plate, and tax season was very so much over. This was my downtime.Which meant I had no excuse for staring at the blank page in front of me for the last twenty minutes. My wedding vows.I rubbed a hand over my face.I had no idea what the hell to write.Maya and I were finally getting married next week.Finally.We were supposed to get married last December, but after having the twins, Maya hadn’t felt comfortable in her body yet.I respected that.Didn’t mean I hadn’t wanted to marry that woman immediately.Hell, I think some part of me knew the first day I met her that she was going to change my life forever, but it was what it was.We pushed the wedding back to May.Then May came, and she still wasn’t feeling completely comfortable. After that, we had some issues come up in June involving my son, my ex-wife, and his girlfriend. That

Isla's POVThree Months after the wedding.....“Hello, Dr. Eunice.”“Hi, Isla. Have a seat.”I smiled faintly as I sat down and adjusted myself in the chair. Dr. Eunice opened her notebook.“Okay. How are you doing today?”I shrugged.“I’m living.”She gave me a small nod.“All right. Give me some updates.”I sighed.“Well, school is starting again. SJ is a sophomore now. The girls are moving up too. One is going to junior high, and the other one is still in primary school. They’re doing pretty good.”I paused.“My ex-husband and his fiancée are finally getting married next month, I guess you could say, they are doing good.”Dr. Eunice wrote something down.“They were supposed to get married last December, but I’m not sure what happened with that. Either way, they’re getting married soon.”She looked up.“How do you feel about that, Isla?”I bit my lip.“How am I supposed to feel about it?”She studied me for a moment.“Then let me ask you something else. Why haven’t you moved on?”I

Crandon’s POV Continued Once we were outside and away from everybody, Silas looked at me.“Hey, bro. What’s up?”I took a deep breath. Then let it out.“Okay. Be real with me.”His face changed slightly.“I know you tell Tiffany everything, and I’ve tried asking her, but she won’t tell me.”I stared at him.“Where the fuck is Chance?”Silas bit his lip. Then looked away. That told me enough to know whatever answer was coming wasn’t good.He sighed.“Chance cheated on us.”I frowned.“What?”“He cheated on me and Pam.”Silas looked down.“And then he left.”I stared at him.“What the fuck are you talking about?”“He’d been cheating on us for about two years.”“Two years?”“Yeah.”I couldn’t believe it.“The reason I found out was because, you know, he travels a lot for business. So him being out of town never looked suspicious.”I nodded.“One particular time, he told me he was going to New York.”Silas rubbed his jaw.“I don’t think he remembered telling me that.”He looked at me.“

  • The Price of Peace: Book 3 In The No More Regrets Series   Epilogue 3.3

Crandon’s POV Three days later, most of our family and friends had finally arrived, and technically, the Michaels weren’t just friends. They were our family. We had grown up together. We laughed together, joked together, worked together, and had been there for each other through damn near everything. At the end of the day, whether we called each other cousins, brothers, sisters, or whatever else, it didn’t matter. We were family.Even the whole debacle with Lorna, Jeremy, and Ms. Diane had somehow worked itself out.Actually, it had worked itself out a little too well.Ms. Diane was practically Jeremy’s best friend now.She loved that man.Lorna, on the other hand, was pissed because her mother was suddenly walking around arm in arm with her boyfriend like they had known each other for twenty years.I just shook my head.I knew Ms. Diane was going to love him.My mother came up beside me and looked around.“Son, is this the location for the rehearsal dinner?”“Yes, Mom. This is it.”

Shane’s POVSitting across from Maya feels unreal, like I slipped into someone else’s life and forgot to check the mirror on the way in. She’s beautiful in that effortless, dangerous way.
