A Little Wolfsbane 

Anita walked through the doors to the packhouse. She’d been summoned by Russell, and she could hear he was in fine form. That was never good. He was overly aggressive and violent when he was in this mood. She set her phone to record secretly. It would send the file once an hour to an email, so if she didn’t return, it would record her last moments until the battery died along with her.

She found him smashing things in an old sitting room. He never entered this room. So many of the old Knick-knacks were intact. She could make out some of what he said. Something about giving away exactly what the lousy pup wanted and now he had traitors fleeing like rats on a sinking ship. Hunters coming out of the woodwork making demands they had no right to.

Anita hadn’t said a word. Her phone was picking up everything. Gods, this was gold, and she’d not even said hello yet. There was no way he could claim they doctored this or led him astray with leading questions.
