“Hey Lex,” I greeted when Alexis approached me. "Hi, Enzo. How is your day going?”She gestured to a couple of patio chairs with a smile.

“Let’s sit and catch up,” she suggested, her voice clipped. "It has been a while.”

Out of habit, I pulled out her chair and sat down across from her. She had a cheeseburger and fries and a large soda in front of her.

"So, what was it that you needed to discuss with me?” I started squinting due to the sun’s reflection in my eyes. She cleared her throat, “We’ve been so distant, I try reaching out to you but it’s useless because each time I hit a wall,” I sighed as she said this.

“Alexis, I made it clear to you multiple times that what we had wasn’t permanent. Anyone of us could end it at any time,” I said, my voice coming out softer than I intended.
