Chapter 2 - The Drunk Man and A Flight to Russia

I quickly walked away from the parking lot of the bar. My boots clicked on the ground as I strode. I need to get the hell out of this place. It will only take minutes before someone finds the dead bodies and then the police will arrive any moment soon. It's a good thing I brought a silencer. That way, I can buy myself more time to escape.

“Hey, stop!” The man kept yelling as he followed me. This man can seriously be the reason if I get caught tonight. I will be damned at how loud his mouth is.

I bit my lip when I realized this man still hadn't left me. My brows furrowed, and I let out a frustrated sigh. This is freaking annoying! I am not really much of a patient person, and I get irritated easily.

“Leave me alone,” I said through gritted teeth, my fist balled.

“Sorry, cupcake. I can't do that,” The man clicked his tongue and winked at me. Luckily, it's dark on this part of the street, so no one can really see if I shoot the man here.

Is he drunk? Of course, he is. Otherwise, he won't be here following a stranger who happens to be a murderer. Is he that stupid or is he just drunk?

I scanned the man from head to toe. Looking at his dark locks and his lazy eyes. He definitely has good looks. My gaze dropped onto his clothes; corporate attires. Maybe he's a rich bachelor or something. Perhaps he may be smart to own a company or probably he's just an office worker. Whatever it is, I’m not interested, and he's clearly not my type. I never liked flirty and annoying guys.

“Leave me alone, you fucking stalker. I swear I’m going to shoot you.” I mumbled the last sentence to myself. I glared at him one last time before turning my heels.

I continued walking, much faster this time. But the man has a pair of long legs like me, and he’s able to catch up easily to my long strides.

“You’re really rude,” With slurred words, he said. The man started babbling shits as I heard his tipsy footsteps tailing behind me. He's like a kid following a stranger who stole his lollipop.

“Don't give me more reasons to shoot you.” I groaned in annoyance. My patience is running thin.

“Oh, you won't shoot me.” The man chuckled deeply, his tone had a hint of confidence. Then he started making these puking noises. Really?

I stopped walking and turned to face him. I looked at him blankly before taking out the gun from my back and pointed it towards his face. It was dark on this part of the sidewalk because of the broken lamps, so I didn’t care deeply whether or not someone might see.

“Oh, yes, I will if you don't shut that mouth of yours.” I darted deadly glares at him, hoping somehow he'll shut up.

I don't know this man. All I knew was that he could be a possible witness at the club. I killed someone at that bar and I really must kill him, but then my guts tell me that I had already fired enough bullets for today.

The man looked at me in surprise, his eyes grew wide as his gaze landed on the gun I was holding. Seconds later, The man smiled to himself.

I looked at him curiously. My brow shot up. Seeing the man smile made my skin crawl. Is he crazy? Did he not see the part where my gun is aimed at his forehead?

He didn't look scared, “Who are you?” He seems amused. Yep, he’s crazy. What the hell is wrong with this guy?

I glared at him, “Look, I have no time for chitchats. Forget you ever met me and I would very much appreciate it if you stop following me around,” I took a few pieces of paper from my pocket and slapped the dollars on his chest. Even though it didn’t seem like he needed the money.

Carrying the briefcase, I turned around and left him there. Gladly, he didn't follow me this time. He stopped right where I left him.

“It's my birthday!” The man yelled.

The corner of my crimson lips slightly curved up.

“Happy birthday, then!” I waved a hand over my head and didn’t bother to look around.

I glanced at my leather gloves and took them off. I threw them in the nearest garbage dumpster along with an opened lighter. I walked away as soon as I heard the burning plastics and the crackling noise. A yawn escaped from my lips as I heaved a sigh. I badly wanna rest and get some fucking sleep. Damn, what a tiring day.

Hoping on my ride, I noticed my luggages beside me in the backseat. I told the driver to take me to the airport. It’s about time for my flight, and I didn’t want to miss my mission in Russia. It’s been a while since I was tasked to execute a VIP mission out of the country.

I stared outside the window and my lips broke out a smile. Who was I kidding with that calm face? I’m exhilarated that I cannot stop smiling. Russia is ice cold at the current season and I hate chilly places, but I must go one way or another.

What I did tonight was a rush mission given by the agency. I had no choice but to execute the mission even though Ruby disturbed my peaceful sleep. My flight to Russia is early in the morning, and it was around three in the morning when I received a phone call from the agency. It was Ruby telling me to assassinate Ricki Douglas, a drug lord who has been hiding from the agency’s radar for quite a while.

My phone beeped inside my pocket. A frown made its way to my lips when I read the message. It was from Ruby, she texted me that I will be having a partner for our mission to Russia and it was another female agent from the Russian team. Great! And here I thought, I will get the mission all to myself.

I shut my phone off and closed my eyes, leaning back to the car seat. It took only a few minutes until the car slowed down. I got out of the cab and carried my luggages to the airport. I didn't bother paying for the ride because I knew Ruby already took care of it.
