MALIA’S POVMy gaze moved from my food to his face multiple times during my eating session. I had no idea why he had a genuine interest in staring at mine. Or perhaps he was staring at my face. I never could tell cause the moment I turned to look at him, he had his eyes facing the other side of the room. When I got tired of the little game we were playing I got up and excused myself. I could feel his gaze on me as I walked to the door. I stepped out of the room and called to the guard at the other end of the hallway.“The Alpha would like to have the same thing as me,” I told the guard. All I got in reply was a curt nod and then he left for the kitchen.I retreated back into the room and continued to munch on my meal like nothing had happened. A few minutes later, the guard arrived with a tray filled up with food even much more than mine. He bowed deeply and placed it in front of his leader. Ryder gazed at the food for a long time and then his gaze shifted to me in question.“What?”
MALIA'S POVI stared open-mouthed at the door he had just banged. I was more than shocked, I was completely blown away. The fact that he all of a sudden picked offense just because I was in Ryder's room was the last thing I expected from him. I was starting to know that he probably had some grudge to settle with his brother and for that reason, he didn't want me associating with him but I never knew it had escalated to the point where he would get supper mad just because I had dinner with his brother.Or was there something deeper going on between them that he wasn't telling me about? I combed my finger through my hair as I finally shifted my gaze away from the door. As far as I was concerned, I did nothing wrong just having dinner with the Alpha so I shrugged nonchalantly and went to bed. Whatever it was he was feeling, he would get over it when the right time came. I wasn't in for the type of stress.I climbed on to my bed and lay there silently watching the night sky until sleep
MALIA'S POVI didn't say a word and waited for him to, because I had nothing to say to him. I watched him intensely as he swallowed and moved closer to where we stood."What is going on between you too, I can feel the thick strain in the air around you guys" Derek who was still standing beside me whispered into my ear. He moved just in time for me to swat the air where his face had been a few seconds ago."Shut your damn mouth" I muttered without even looking toward him. I had my gaze directed at Ronan and I wanted it to be there for now."Malia" He finally called as he stood right in front of me. "Can I uhm.....speak to you for a few minutes? Please?" He added at the end of his request. I had no idea the kind of person he took me for but I wasn't the kind that would pick offense just because he had banged the door to my room while trying to let his emotions out.I love to think I am emotionally mature and I act toward it with immense effect. "Sure, I can use a break" I shrugged and
MALIA'S POVMy eyes zeroed in on the meals before me. They looked tantalizing, I felt my mouth watering. I had always had a fondness for food, it was my only weakness, apart from being Wolfless.Ronan raised his eyebrows at me taking note of how I stared intensely at the food. "Why do I wish to take the place of this food? The way you gaze at it... it is delightful.""You don't have to worry about that, you have a special spot in my heart. Not as big as that of food but still you are there" I teased."Seriously? Remind me to always exclude meals when we are together." He replied sarcastically while rolling his eyes at me. "Whatever" I waved him away and dived into the meal, ready to enjoy the rest of my night. Comfortable silence engulfed us as we continued to eat. The sound of muffled voices of people around and the clattering of cutleries were the only sounds.A few minutes after we finished the main course, the desert arrived. I finally saw the main reason why he labeled this pla
Malia's POV"Do I have any feelings for Ronan?" That was the first question that popped into my head the moment I shut the door behind me, leaving him outside.I didn't even know on what ground to stand on. The fact that I was already asking myself such a question was shocking enough. It was only a few months or not even up to since I left Zade, was that enough time to get over him already? I know a lot of you will be convinced that I was a fool, after everything he had done to me, I should be celebrating the fact that I was tossing him aside in my mind and making room for another. But somehow, I felt like I was betraying all the beautiful memories we had. That it was just too early to get them out of my mind. And besides for someone I have met for barely two months, it was certainly too early for any feeling to develop between me and Ronan. And most importantly, though he was a very good guy, a handsome one to add to that I undoubtedly didn't see myself settling down with him. MALIA'S POVWe chatted for hours on end, with him doing most of the talking while I just listened and discovered just how much of a mystery he was. When he said he didn't sleep, he meant every bit of it. He mostly just uses the night's rest and gets ready for a new day. He told me how it had initially been a night full of nightmares and it progressively became sleeplessness until it turned into a full blown insomnia. Who would have thought that he had been operating in no sleep at all? When it was finally time to retire back to bed, we did, together, on my bed. I have no idea why, no explanation for it. We just did. No word was exchanged between us. We just knew that was just what we both wanted and we did.The next morning, I was awakened by the beaming rays of sunlight coming through my window and beaming directly on my face. I had to blink rapidly to get my eyes used to the unwanted lightening. I tried to move my arm but was restricted by a another arm on my shoulder. I didn't ne
MALIA'S POV“What?” I tried to withdraw my hand from his but my futile attempt laughed back at my face. “The plan was to escort you to a function” I added.“I told you that so you will come with me, I know you won't if I told you the truth” He said, looking down at our intertwined hand rather than my face.“And do tell me, what that truth is” I arched my brows suddenly feeling very annoyed about the whole thing.“The truth….” He hesitated a bit, glaring at a corner in the beautifully decorated hall. “Is that I adore you….”“I adore you too. We are friends, aren't we? As far as I am concerned there is adoration between friends” I cut him off immediately, not liking the path the conversation was headed.“No, not that. We are friends yes, but can be something more. I've had my eyes on you from the moment you came into this Park. You're like a beautiful magnet, and I can't help being attracted to you. I adore your confidence, your carriage was the first thing that got me hooked on the fi
ZADE’S POV“What do you think should be done Alpha, they have attacked the east wing again and with the way their operations are escalating so fast, it is only a matter of time before they reach the park central. I think we better act fast.” My gaze darted from my beta to the opened window in my throne room. I let his words sink into my head as I watched the sun sink farther away from the sky. “It was only a matter of time before they reached the park central” He had said. If they reached the park central and were able to successfully invade it, then we are likely done for. “What do we do” He asked. They were all relying on me with every fiber of their beings. Funny enough they had no idea that the one person they considered a source of motivation, strength and hope was losing himself in the process. At this point, I had no idea what should be done. These people have been invading my pack for the past few months. There was no explanation for it, nothing. And the hardest part to de
