MR. WALKING TARGET

last update Last Updated: 2025-10-03 16:07:42

I had a new plan.

Yes, I know. It seems like I always have a new plan when it came to Elijah. None of it worked, but this one HAS to work.

My new plan, get over him. I mean, I was at the club last night, not following him around.

“You said the guy last night was cute, did you sleep with him?” Fatima asks, walking backward with a huge eager smile on her face. She was too chirpy for someone who was swinging shots back to back last night.

I avoid her eyes. That’s her answer, she gasps,

“You didn’t? The plan was to get Elijah out of your system, why didn’t you?”

I wonder, why didn’t I? I wouldn’t even let him kiss my mouth. Usually, I let them work for it, not touching them until they begged for it.

With Elijah, I would beg to touch him.

No more Elijah.

Yet, I am on the way to one of the classes we shared. If I had known, I wouldn’t have applied for his classes, how am I supposed to avoid him if I see him four out of five times in the week and sometimes, multiple times a day?

And that’s what I do.That’s how I have lived from the moment of realization till now.One moment, I was across from him, watching a gun being put to his head. The next, I am at his side, dismantling the gun, my elbow ducking the hand holding it under the chin, the other hand pushing and holding his head down. “Christ, Jesse, you did not have to put your weight into it.” Jazz whizzes, palm plastered on her chin. The gun clatters to the gun, the magazine first.I drop to Elijah’s side, searching his face for any wound. He stares at me wide eyed, there’s no fear in those eyes, after all, he’s been in situations like this countless times as tests and exams, even real life situations. He went on to be a detective after all. Yet, my heart cannot take it.Every time he was in danger, it felt like my heart was being ripped apart from my body. Like I would cough up blood the next second. I think I much prefer coughing up blood to him being in danger.“Are you okay?” my eyes scan his body

  • The chaos of him   RACING ALONE

If only I knew it would be even harder to do that.I only managed to be admitted into five out of his eight classes. Five! But there was good news. I beat him, my name was finally at the top of the central board. That was the only reason I was able to get into five of his classes. Fatima had thrown a party in my honor. He somehow heard about the party, and not only put a stop to it without showing up, we got penalty points, every single person in attendance. “I don’t like being your friend.” Fatima grumbled, her penalty points increased her dislike for golden boy.It only made me chuckle. My penalty points made me second the next time we had one of our random tests, but it only meant I was first in reality. Thankfully, I had already been accepted into his classes. On the first day, I arrived super early, only to find the class already full of students, his blonde head right in front of the professor. Of course.I had to sit in the back, staring at the back of his head for all of

  • The chaos of him   DEFENSE NO ONE ASKED FOR

I worked really hard to make Elijah my rival. All without seeing his face by the way. It was like I was possessed by something. A lot of times I wondered how crazy it must look, then at the back of my mind, I would hear his soft sigh, and see his glowing blonde hair, then I’d get all fired up again. Quite literally. He gave me the most painful of boners. The boy was difficult to beat.He would run a hundred kilometre race, and I would run three hundred for good measure. Then he’d achieve a stupid feat like acing his obstacle driving course. A never ending circle of me running after his shadow.“You look worn through, do you know you could have a conversation with this man?” Fatima asks as we sat in the dining one evening.“Right, I forgot, you’re avoiding him now because you think he would come looking for you.” She says drily, then shakes her head as she mouths a spoonful of the mashed potatoes we’re having for dinner. Pushing my plate full of food away, there’s no appetite tonigh

  • The chaos of him   DETHRONING THE SCHOOL'S KING AND FALLING FOR HIM

“I knew I shouldn’t have spoken to you at all on that first day.” Fatima repeats what she had said the day I made the bold declaration in front of the central board. Her sighs aren’t helping either.“Keep it down or go back inside.”“It’s cold!”“Then go back inside! Nobody has asked you to come with me!”She has been on every futile journey to find Elijah Stone. For the most, or the second most popular person in school, he is a very difficult man to find. “Blame my morbid curiousity okay? What kind of man doesn’t have any social media in this day and age?” She had actually thought about it after we skipped our classes together to wait at his class. Turns out he helped the professor out and missed that particular class, we couldn’t wait for him to return so we left and she suggested social media. For all his best boy, best student cred, there has been no sighting of him, or his picture.“I thought the school would use his pictures everywhere.” Fatima grumbled. I thought so too, I

  • The chaos of him   SEVERE CRUSH

JESSE HARDING's POV.He never noticed me.I know exactly what it sounds like. Like a teenage girl with a severe crush. But I assure you, that’s not how it started. To really understand how the cutest, but strangest man with gold locks and the clearest, widest eyes got under my skin, we have to go back to where it all began. The genesis of the story if you will.Being the youngest at the academy was the exact type of fame I was looking for, better they looked at me with awe, mixed with envy than they ganged up against me. Everyone had been impressed. All of the trainers, the alumni, my class mates, the ones older than me. All except one.“Elijah? Have you seen him? The young dude they say will take your spot.”I had been laying in the library, among rows of books, planning to nap before our test, a quick shuteye. But his name snagged my attention.I knew there was already the young genius before I showed up and claimed his spot. I wore that honor like a badge, for some reason
