8. Staking her claim

I should have insisted on leaving, that is what a sane, responsible, self-respecting female would do. Then I wouldn’t be looking forward to a cringe morning as I listen to the summons. The Luna would be delighted to see me this morning, a request I cannot turn down.

I pull my cargo pants up my waist and shimmy into my top. If I’ll be staying here awhile, might as well be nice to the Luna.

I follow the servant to the main living room where she waits for me.

“Hello Celine. You look ravishing.” She says with a big smile. First name basis?

“So do you.” I say and return her hug.

“I’m sorry I was so busy yesterday I couldn’t find the time to give you a tour. I hope you didn’t wait up.”

“I didn’t.”

“I’m glad. Come with me, I’ll show you around. Our pack house is humble, but it is rich with history.”

“It is hardly too humble.” I say with a small laugh. “It is impressive actually.”

“You are too kind.” She smiles and shows me around, introducing me to wolves as we pass.
