The silence in Antonio’s office was thick, sticky with tension. Juan stood near the window, his knuckles pressed to the glass, forehead down, chest still heaving as the weight of his brother’s ultimatum sank into his bones.

Antonio remained seated, legs crossed, hands steepled beneath his chin as he stared at Juan like a chessboard he’d already won.

“I’m not saying it again,” Antonio said, voice well polished. "That’s the final bargain. Your son’s freedom... in exchange for your family stepping aside. Sign away your claim to the inheritance, yours and your children’s. That’s the cost.”

Juan’s breath came out uneven. His throat bobbed. “You’d really do it. You’d really leave Alejandro in there to rot.”

“If you say no?” Antonio shrugged. “Yes. I would.”

A beat passed.

Juan didn’t answer right away. His jaw worked furiously, like he was chewing on the taste of betrayal itself. He spun around, eyes sharp with something between grief and hatred.

“I raised him to be strong,” Juan muttered.

  • The son of a billionaire in disguise   At home

Maria twirled once on the boutique sidewalk, letting the soft yellow satin of her dress flutter around her knees. The sunlight made the fabric glow like it had a secret, and the white wedge heels gave her just enough height to make her feel like she belonged on a magazine cover.Rene grinned, locking the car door and holding up the final piece of her outfit... a small buttercream purse with a gold clasp.“You didn’t,” she said with mock scandal as he handed it to her.“I did,” he smirked. “You’re not allowed to walk into that estate looking anything less than divine.”Maria rolled her eyes but bit her lip to hide her growing smile. “You’re ridiculous.”“And yet,” he said, opening the passenger side door with a bow, “here you are, still with me.”She giggled and climbed into the car, settling the purse on her lap. Rene closed the door gently, circling around to the driver’s seat. As soon as he was in and buckled up, he turned the engine on, and with it, the radio kicked in.A warm, upb

  • The son of a billionaire in disguise   Best day of her life

Maria stood in front of the open closet, frowning.A neat row of Rene’s sweats, soft shirts, and a few too-casual hoodies greeted her. The lower shelves held folded joggers and socks. Two duffel bags lay half-zipped at the bottom, and off to the far left, a few hangers carried the handful of clothes she’d worn over the last few chaotic days... a hoodie of his, her wrinkled hospital pajamas, an oversized t-shirt she may or may not have stolen from him, a soft cream sweater, and a few casaul clothes he had for her in the villa. But that was it.She swung the door wider, as if more options might magically appear.Nothing.Her fingers grazed the fabric on the hanger and her mouth dropped open in despair. “Kiaaa…”From behind her, Rene poked his head out of the bathroom, a toothbrush stuck halfway in his mouth. “Mmm?”She turned around dramatically, arms extended. “I have nothing to wear.”He leaned against the doorway, quirking a brow.“I’m serious,” she huffed, turning back toward the cl

Sunlight streamed softly through the curtains, painting warm golden streaks across the tangled sheets and dappled skin. The bedroom was quiet, save for the low hum of city traffic in the distance. When the light hit their faces, Maria was the first to stir. Her fingers blindly reached across the bedside table, patting for her phone. When her hand finally found it, she squinted at the screen, and her eyes flew open.12:03 PM.She gasped. “Kia! Babe, wake up... we overslept!”Rene groaned softly as her voice pulled him from dreams. Before she could fully sit up, he wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her back into him, burying his face in the crook of her neck.“Mmm... just five more minutes,” he murmured, his voice gravelly with sleep. “I’ve got you here, let’s stay like this.”Maria melted into him, her protest fading into a soft giggle. She tucked herself into the warmth of his chest, her fingers grazing lightly over his arm. Then, her stomach betrayed her.A loud, unmistakabl

The silence in Antonio’s office was a dense, suffocating thing. The clock ticked, the city hummed below, but inside, time seemed to freeze.Jason stood near the far wall, his hands in his pockets, posture deceptively casual. But there was a gleam in his eyes... a challenge."You lost the bet, Dad," he repeated, voice calm but firm. "Time to own up. Do what you said you were going to do."Antonio’s jaw clenched. His eyes, already dark, burned with fury as they snapped. "I’m not owning up to no damn bet," he growled. "You hear me? I’m not doing anything. I’ve been humiliated enough!"Jason laughed. It was a dangerous sound, edged with mockery and disbelief. "There it is," he said, shaking his head slowly. "That’s the real Antonio Rossi. Always making deals, always setting rules, but never playing by them."With a snarl, Antonio grabbed the silver letter opener on his desk and flung it at his son. It sliced through the air, grazing Jason’s jaw before clattering to the floor with a metall

  • The son of a billionaire in disguise   I won the bet

The room was still, heavy with unspoken challenge. Jason stood with arms folded, eyes fixed on his father like a hawk watching its prey.Antonio, cool as ever, reached into his jacket, pulled out his phone, and scrolled through his contacts until he landed on the name: Captain Rainer. He smirked as he pressed the call button. “Watch closely, Jason. This is how men make things move.”The phone rang once. Then again.Then... the call canceled.Antonio’s eyebrows twitched.Jason tilted his head, a slow smirk forming. “That doesn’t look like bowing to me.”Antonio ignored him and redialed.Call canceled again.A third time.Jason took a small step forward, arms still folded, eyes sharper now. “You were saying?”Antonio sat up straighter, jaw tightening, lips drawn into a thin line. His fingers hovered over the screen, then stabbed the button again.Call canceled.Again.This time, his face changed. The glass of wine on the table remained untouched as Antonio stared down at his phone, blin

Staring at the look of disbelief on his son's face, Antonio laughed.“That’s because it was easy.” He leaned forward, setting his glass down with a soft clink. “It only seems effortless to you because I’ve been playing in this game long before you even understood it.”Jason narrowed his eyes. “What’s that supposed to mean?”“It means everything seems to fall in place smoothly when you plan... when you think ten steps ahead, not two. That’s what it means to be a man in this world, Jason. Not a boy reacting to fire, but a man who saw the match being lit two weeks before.”Jason raised a brow. “So what… I should just think like you now?”“I suggest it. Strongly.” Antonio tapped the table twice. “Because if you don’t, you’ll always be ten steps behind someone like me. Or someone worse.”Jason shifted uncomfortably, pushing his hands into his pockets. His voice was quieter now. “So what did you get? For making Juan hand over his rights? What did you trade for all that power?”Antonio tilte
