Chapter 2 The First Accusation

Author: Anonymous
As expected, even after taking my room, Caspian still was not satisfied.

That night, I lay tossing and turning on the living room sofa, thinking about what path I should take next.

After living through that nightmare of a past life, I understood one thing clearly—there was no place for me left in my family. Whether it was my parents, my sister, or my childhood sweetheart and fiancee, Caroline Sutton, all of them would stand firmly on Caspian's side.

They would be deceived by him, manipulated by him, and look at me with nothing but hatred.

Lost in thought, I suddenly felt a chill crawl up my spine. Startled, I sat up. Then I saw Caspian crouching near the doorway, staring at me with eyes full of malice.

I could not help asking, "Why are you looking at me like that, Caspian? I haven't done anything to you, have I?"

His gaze was dark with resentment. "You're inferior to me in every way. Why is my life so miserable, while you get to have such a happy family and even be with Caroline?"

His twisted logic made me laugh in disbelief. "Your miserable life has nothing to do with me. Are you sick?"

Caspian grinned, his pearly whites flashing eerily in the dark, sending a chill through me. "I am sick. That's exactly why your parents will love me and defend me. Just wait. Everything you have will be mine."

Before I could respond, he suddenly shoved past me and ran toward my parents' room. Clutching his chest, he collapsed at the foot of their bed. "Ugh… Mom, Dad… I feel awful…"

My parents were instantly alarmed by his sudden episode. They scrambled out of bed, hurriedly getting dressed to take him to the hospital. My mom cupped his face anxiously. "You were fine just now. What triggered it?"

Caspian lowered his head, his voice trembling with soft sobs. "It's all my fault… I've caused trouble for you again. Eli was right. I should've died along with my parents…"

The accusation hit me out of nowhere. And before I could even defend myself, my dad's slap landed hard across my face. "You wretched bastard! You knew Caspian had poor health, yet you still said something like that to him! How can you be so vicious? Wasn't Caspian your best friend?"

Caspian pretended to hold my dad back, though he was grinning triumphantly. "Mom, Dad, don't blame Eli. He must be afraid I'll take away your love. Your family is so happy… Who would want to share it with someone else?"

What a perfect performance. So pitiful. So understanding. My parents were so moved by his "thoughtfulness" that tears welled in their eyes. When they looked at me again, their disgust had only deepened.

My dad shoved me aside impatiently and barked, "Stand outside and reflect on yourself! You're not going to sleep until Caspian is fine!"

With that, they hurried out, carrying him with them.

No one wanted to hear my explanation. No one cared about the truth.

In this family, I had already become someone disposable.

In my previous life, I had been just like them, fooled by Caspian's tragic background and his harmless, innocent facade. By the time I realized the truth, it was far too late. In everyone's eyes, I had gone from a well-behaved, sensible child to someone vicious, jealous, and ruthless.

So when I fell gravely ill and lay on the brink of death, not a single member of my family reached out to help me. They had even wished for my early death so they could take my heart and secure Caspian's bright future.

After I died, nothing of me remained in that house.

Academically, I advanced naturally into high school, yet my grades still ranked among the very top of my year. My P.E. teacher often clicked his tongue in amazement when he looked at me, wondering aloud how someone so "perfect" could exist. My story gradually spread beyond this city, reaching across the country. Coaches from state teams and even the national team began extending offers, hoping I would join them.My teacher always encouraged me to go further. More professional coaches meant better resources. He knew that. But I could also see the faint loneliness hidden in his eyes. Every time, I told him firmly, "I'm not leaving. I'll go to the nationals with you.
