Alice’s Pretense

Rachel turned her head and looked back at Xander and replied to him. “Of Course I remember Alice, we've been friends since I was twelve. Where is she? I've not seen her since I woke up.”

Baffled the doctor asked. “But you didn't remember her this morning while your parents were here, ” 

“Doctor, I remember my parents now, after sleeping I was able to recover bits of my memory,” Rachel told the doctor in a slow voice.

“How come you didn't remember me then?” Xander asked, a bit annoyed.

Though it's good that she didn't remember the incident, why didn't she remember him? People will think there wasn't love between them.

Not that there was but at least for a facade.

“How about I call her here for you?” Xander asked.

“Sure, please do. I can't find my cell phone. I would have called her.” Alice answered back slowly but instantly.

Making Xander believe that she really can't wait to see her best friend.

Xander raised his eyebrows up and looked at her with a small smile but in his mind he was thinking that she was really a fool.

“Sure, I will call her now,” Xander said to Rachel and walked out of the hospital room.

When the doctor saw that the situation was under control, he left the hospital room and went back to his office.

“Alice, she already woke up,” Xander said to Alice immediately she picked up the call.

Disorientedly, Alice asked. “ Who?”

“Araceli,-

Alice scoffed, Is that why he couldn't even greet her?

Like, hey baby? 

Or hey love?

“Oh really, that's so good, how is she?” Alice replied she can't let Xander think that she was a bad person. 

It would be better if that bi*tch had died, but she didn't. She still has to wake up and drag Xander with her. 

If she doesn't die now, she will die later.

“She’s fine but she didn't remember the incident, she also didn't remember me, ” Xander said to Alice.

She didn't remember the incident? 

She has amnesia?

Is that really possible?

“Does she have amnesia? Oh, was it because she slammed her head on the wall? Oh my!.”

“Yeah, I don't know why she did that crazy thing, she should have just allowed those men to rape her and all this wouldn't have happened, and our engagement would have been dissolved by now. But because of her stubbornness and protecting her stupid pride, she had to commit suicide.” Xander said distastefully to Alice.

“Poor girl, I'm coming soon. I will come and check on her.” Alice said in a pleasant voice to Xander.

“You should start coming, Araceli remembers you and she has asked for you,” Xander said to Alice.

“Alright, I will start coming. Wait there for me.” Alice answers back to Xander.

Xander went back to her hospital room and saw that Ace was still frowning as he had been doing since he came.

He doesn't care shit about him anyways.

Ace can do whatever he wants to do when he dissolves the engagement between him and his sister. He wouldn't even have to see him.

“I’ve called Alice, she said she was occupied with something that was why she couldn't come earlier and she's coming immediately.” Xander looked away from Ace and explained to Araceli. “ She also said she hopes you will understand her,” he added with a look of disgust.

She can't blame his Alice for anything.

“It’s okay, I didn't blame her.” Rachel said in a slow voice to Xander.

Not blame her?

Hphmm!

Someone you claim to be your best friend was in a coma for three days and you didn't show up till she opened her eyes, and you said she should blame you!

Nice, nice.

She doesn't deserve to be an enemy not to talk a friend!

It wasn't long after Xander called Alice that she came running inside the hospital as if she heard just that Araceli was brought into the hospital.

“Araceli!”

Alice cried out immediately as she entered the hospital room. The guards at the door immediately turned back because they thought something happened to their miss.

Even Rachel was shocked because she wasn't expecting a woman screaming her name when she looked back and saw the face fitted the Alice in her memory, Rachel calmed down and waited for her to display thoroughly.

“Alice, ” Rachel softly let out in a low voice.

Alice quickly walked to her side and held her hands with tears in her eyes. 

“Araceli, I'm sorry I wasn't here with you when you were going through all that. I heard but I had a show I had to be there, I was just arriving from the show” Alice quickly explained to Rachel.

A show?

How can someone that set her up three days ago suddenly have an impromptu show?

Rachel knew that she was probably waiting for Araceli’s death.

Well sorry to disappoint you, Araceli is really dead and this is me, Rachel, in her body and I'm not as gentle and meek as her.

“No, Rachel. It's fine, I understand b.” Rachel replied as she choked.

Ace quickly brought a glass of water for his sister and fed it to her while Alice patted her back gently.

“Hush, hush. Stop talking. You are still not better yet.”  Alice said to Rachel as she wanted her back.

Xander was looking at how caring his Alice was. She was probably regretting what happened and showing sisterly feeling her that b*tch again. 

It's still his Alice that's the best.

“I just want you to know that I didn't blame you,” Rachel replied as she tried to convince Alice that she actually didn't remember anything 

Rachel was studying Alice face with the corners of her trying to see her expression.

Alice had to believe that she didn't remember anything else she wouldn't be able to make them relax their guards towards her.

She had to take them unaware. 

“Araceli, I heard that it was Xander that brought you here?
