~Camelia POV~
A sharp pain ran through my head as I groaned softly, shoving my hand through my hair as if to will away the ache. The scent of lavender mixed with a manly cologne coming from the room made it even worse, especially with my sensitive sense of smell, which had turned out not to be my favorite advantage of having a nose. I turned on the bed in an attempt to bury my face in my pillow to stop myself from perceiving it, but I froze in shock when I felt a warm body next to me. My eyes snapped open, and the first thing I noticed was that I wasn't in my room as I had thought. I wasn't lying on my bed, and worst of all, the man on the bed next to me wasn't my fiancé, Peter. I jolted out of the bed, my heart pounding hard in my chest. “Shit… oh my goodness…” the words left my mouth when I realized I was naked, and worst of all, the guy on the bed was too. “How did this happen?” The moment I muttered the question, fragments of memories flashed through my mind. I remembered agreeing to attend a club party with my sister, Anya. She had pleaded with me to come along because her friends who were supposed to go with her had ditched her. The rest of what happened was a blur—me taking the drink she gave me and toasting to her finding a man that night. The man stirred on the bed, snapping me out of my thoughts, and I looked around the room hastily for my clothes. I saw them scattered on the floor and quickly grabbed them, wearing them as fast as I could before leaving the room. As I walked down the hallway, I started to sweat. “How could I do this to Peter…?” I whispered, my voice shaking. “It’s just three days to our wedding… and I cheated on him.” My chest tightened painfully, and I pressed my lips together to stop them from trembling. I had never felt this guilty and horrible before. I should have known that going to a party with Anya would end up like this, but I didn’t want her to feel bad. She was my only sister, and after our parents’ death, we had promised each other that we would always look out for ourselves. I packed my hair into a ponytail as I stepped into the elevator. The man I had a one-night stand with must be wealthy, judging from the standard of the hotel, but that was the least of my problems right now. As long as I never saw him again, I would be fine. Now I needed to figure out what to do. How was I going to explain to Peter that I had given my virginity to another man before our wedding night? A sudden sense of concern came to my mind. If I had ended up in a stranger’s bed, then what had happened to Anya? How had she allowed this to happen? I quickly fished for my phone from my bag and dialed Anya’s number, but she didn’t pick up. After trying several times, panic started to settle in. “Anya… pick up…” I muttered under my breath, gripping my phone tightly. Could it be that something had happened to her? First, I needed to get home and then find a way to reach her. I took a cab and impatiently waited until it stopped in front of the duplex apartment Peter had given me as a gift after our engagement party. Anya had moved in three days later. I got out of the cab and rushed to the door. The fact that it wasn’t locked gave me the hint that Anya was inside—maybe passed out on the couch. But the moment I got into the living room, Peter’s cold voice sliced through the air, making my heart thud hard in my chest. “Where were you last night, Camelia?” he demanded. “I… I’m so sorry,” I said, forcing a smile even though my gut twisted with guilt. “I should’ve told you. I went to a club party with Anya.” He stared at me like I had lost my mind. “How could you lie to me, Camelia? You should’ve told me you didn’t want to marry me instead of cheating on me and lying to my face.” My hand trembled at my side, and I clenched it quickly to hide it. Could it be that Peter knew about the one-night stand? The thought echoed in my head, but I shook it off. There was no way he could have known. The only person in the room when I woke up was the stranger and me. “Peter, please let me explain,” I said, trying to step closer to him, but he raised his hand sharply. “Don’t you dare come close to me,” he snapped, glaring at me with anger. “I don’t want to hear another word from you.” His words hit harder than I expected, and I stopped immediately. “Please,” I said, trying to pull myself together instead of breaking down. “It’s not how you think it is. I would never cheat on you or lie to you.” Peter scoffed, his eyes filled with disbelief. “You have no shame, Camelia. And you think I’m going to believe anything you say?” My throat tightened, and I swallowed hard. “Please, you have to hear me out before you make any decision,” I cried, tears filling my eyes. “I only followed Anya to that club party because she begged me to. She didn’t want to go alone. I love you, Peter, and I would never cheat on you. It was a—” “Now you’re using Anya to lie?” Peter shouted angrily. I blinked, confused, but he didn’t stop. “Anya has been home since last night,” he continued. “Why would you lie on your own sister just to cover up what you did?” I stared at him in shock, trying to process his words. “I’m telling you the truth, Peter,” I said weakly. “When have I ever lied to you? Anya was the one I went to the party with. You know I don’t like going to places like that. I only agreed to go for Anya’s sake.” “Enough with your lies, Camelia. Enough!” Peter shouted. I flinched. “When I came home last night to look for you, Anya was the one I met. She was here… all alone by herself,” he said, his voice cold and hard. “Why do you keep lying to me, Camelia?” My eyes widened in shock, my breath catching in my throat. “Anya… was home?”~ Camelia POV ~He had made sure no one would hire me, trapping me so I had nowhere else to turn but to go back to him.A sharp sob ripped from my throat as I pressed my back against the wall of the elevator. Memories of the previous day flashed through my mind, Luke's soft touches, his gentle kisses, the way he held me in his bed, telling me how much he loved me while I lay bare in his chest.I felt so stupid, like a fool who didn't think before doing things. The elevator door chimed open, and I quickly wiped my tears before anyone could see them, making my way straight to the building exit.I tried to force a small smile to hide the fact that my heart was breaking as I walked down the street. The guilt and pain of everything made it feel like every time I tried to move forward, something slammed me right back down.First it was Anya, then Gwen, and just when I thought things might finally get better, it was Luke. The ringing of the phone in my bag got my attention. I pulled it out a
~ Camelia POV ~The sharp ringing tone of my phone woke me up. I opened my eyes, rubbing my hand over my face as I reached out to grab it from the table."Hello," I mumbled softly, my voice raspy from sleep. A dull ache throbbed in my lower back, making me realized I had fallen asleep right in the chair."Hey, Camelia!" Becca's voice came through the speaker, full of excitement. "How did the first interview go? Did you get the job?""The interview?" I grumbled, pushing myself up. My eyes darted to the clock hanging on the wall, and my heart dropped straight into my stomach. I had completely slept past the time for the first one. "Oh my God, Becca. I slept through it.""Shit," I heard her mutter over the line. "Don't panic! You still have a chance to go. Get dressed fast. I left very early this morning and I should've woken you up, I'm so sorry.""I'll call you back, Becca," I said, holding the phone against my ear with my shoulder while I unbuttoned my clothes. "I need to take a quick
~ Camelia POV ~"I wasn't hiding from you," I said with a scoff, even though my heart was hammering against my ribs.Asher clicked his tongue, taking slow steps until he was standing right in front of me. "I didn't expect you to. But it seems you've been busy with Luke all day."Hearing him mention Luke made my blood run cold. He had seen us together."You know what, cupcake?" Asher chuckled, though I could see the anger burning in his eyes as he spoke. "I thought you were different. I didn't think you were trying to play me and Luke at the same time."I blinked, a fresh wave of guilt mixing with my anger. "What are you talking about? I'm not playing with you or Luke. I just want both of you to leave me alone."Asher stepped even closer, his shadow falling over me. "I don't know if Luke is going to do that, but I won't, cupcake. Because you're mine.""That's not up to you to decide!" I shot back, my voice rising. "I've had enough of this. Why am I even standing here talking to you?"I
~ Asher POV ~My hand balled into a fist on my lap as I watched Luke open the passenger door for Camelia. She got into the car with a small smile on her face before he walked around to the driver's side."Who's she?" Shayna asked, leaning over so she could see properly. Watching the car pull away and drive past mine made the rage inside me boil hotter than it had all day. I couldn't believe the reason she hadn't been picking up my calls or replying my messages was because she was with Luke.I thought I had her. I thought she was mine."Ash, what's going on?" Shayna asked, looking at me with a confused frown. "Who was that girl Luke was with?"I let out a slow breath, turning my head to look at her. "You ask too many questions, cupcake."She leaned even closer to me, resting her hand on my chest. "I was just curious because you went stiff the second you saw Luke with her. And besides, we were on our way to my place. Why did you stop outside Luke's building?""Too many questions," I mu
~ Camelia POV ~The scent of lavender and a faint hint of cologne woke me up. I shifted slightly on the bed as my eyes opened. I gasped softly when I realized I was resting my head on Luke's bare chest, his arm wrapped around my waist.I slowly looked up at his face. His eyes were still closed, and his chest rose and fell with his soft breathing. I carefully lifted his arm off me and looked down at my bare body, then at his."Shit," I muttered, dragging my hand through my hair as I sat up. I couldn't believe I had slept with Luke. What was I thinking?Guilt hit me in the chest. I stood up from the bed, taking one quick look at him before I walked straight into the bathroom and turned on the shower.I stood under the warm water, letting it run over my body as my thoughts raced. I didn't know what I regretted more, the fact that I had slept with Asher and now his twin brother Luke, or that I had just given Luke the impression I wanted to be with him when I couldn't.I ran my hands throu
~ Luke POV ~A soft groan left my lips as Camelia placed her hands flat on my chest and kept riding me. Her eyes were closed tight, her teeth biting down on her lower lip as she moaned my name softly over and over again.I had never imagined a day like this would actually come. Sitting here under her felt completely surreal. I reached up and held her waist, feeling the warmth of her skin against my hands as she moved up and down on me."Oh my God, Luke," she moaned loudly, her breath coming out in small gasps."You like it, don't you?" I asked her, my own voice sounding rough as I held her hips to guide her rhythm. She nodded fast, not saying a word, just biting her lip harder as she kept moving on top of me."Tell me, Camelia," I whispered, lifting my upper body slightly to press a kiss to her neck. "Tell me how good it feels.""It feels so good," she gasped out, throwing her head back. Her fingers dug into the skin of my chest, her inner muscles gripping me tight with every move she
~Camelia POV~*One Week Later*I took in a deep breath, exhaling softly the moment I came out of the cab, my fingers tightening slightly around my bag as I stared at the building in front of me.It was tall, all glass and steel, gleaming in the morning sun, its sleek lines towering over the street
~Camelia POV~The rest of the drive to Becca’s house was in silence. I rested my head against the window, trying not to think about everything. But I couldn’t bring myself to do it. Every second felt like I was caught in a bad nightmare as my mind replayed all the moments. The fact Peter had stood
~Camelia POV~I didn't know how long I had spent crying and hating myself for not seeing my sister's true color until today. My body felt so weak that I could barely hold myself up from the floor, and the sting in my eyes clearly told me that I had cried out all the tears left in me. But I couldn't
~Camelia POV~“Enough with the pretense,” Peter said, his eyes filled with so much hate toward me that I never thought he was capable of it. “What do you think? That I’m a fool you can lie to and I’ll just believe you and act like nothing happened?”“No, please, Peter, that’s not what this is about
