After a long hour of tossing on the bed, and thinking about Nathaniel and his demands, I decided to share with my mum.

So I changed my clothes and rushed to her room to talk to her.

At least, she's literally the only person that I have, and I've made the mistake of not telling her about Nathaniel once, I wasn't going to repeat that mistake again.

I pushed open her door_ which I noticed was hardly ever locked_ and saw her sitting on her bed, just gazing at her phone lazily.

“Mom,” I began, my voice trembling slightly, “there's something I need to tell you.”

Mum looked up, concern etched on her features. “What is it, sweetie?”

I hesitated for a moment, and you could hear my heart pounding as I tried to find the right words. “I… I received another call from Nathaniel. He's demanding five million dollars from me, or he'll reveal everything. And he threatened us too…”

Her eyes widened in alarm, and she set her phone aside, fully attentive now. “Oh my God, Hannah. Are you okay?”
