Chapter 360

Author: Lightmoon
"Lucian, Andy! Oh my!"

Nevaeh walked in with wavy hair and a pale gold dress. She was startled when she saw the chaos. Things were scattered all over the floor. "What happened here? Is Andy hurt?"

She knelt down, and her golden dress pooled around her as she pulled the little boy into her arms. She examined him carefully.

Feeling comforted by her gentle voice, Andre instinctively wanted to cry. Yet remembering what his father had just said, he held back the tears and only managed to choke out a word, "Nevaeh."

"I'm here."

Nevaeh tenderly touched his reddened little face. "It's okay to cry when you're upset. It'll make you feel better. Don't be afraid. I'm right here."

Andre shook his head. Nevaeh then looked over at Lucian, who was sitting to the side. "Lucian, what's wrong with him?"

"Ask him yourself."

Lucian's response was casual as he asked, "Did you need something?"

"Well..."

Nevaeh glanced at the child in her arms, uncertain whether to speak. Seeing that Lucian showed n

Having probably guessed that Marisol wouldn't attend the dinner party, Nevaeh sent her a photograph the day before the event. The picture showed a white stone pendant. Marisol recognized it immediately, but it should have been around Andre's neck. Why was it in Nevaeh's possession? Her expression darkened considerably. When Emilia had returned to the country a while back, she'd met Andre and taken an instant liking to him. She'd gone to great lengths to source rare smooth white stone material, personally designed the pendant, and commissioned a craftsman from the Wright family to carve it by hand. She'd even had it blessed by a priest at the local cathedral. All of this was meant to ward off evil and protect Andre, ensuring his good fortune and lifelong health throughout his days. Yet now this precious item was somehow in Nevaeh's hands.Considering Andre's obvious affection for Nevaeh, this probably wasn't theft. The boy had most likely given it to her willingly.Marisol took a

Orion squeezed her hand tighter. "I just like being with you, Mommy.""Don't you like me?" Alinta's plaintive voice drifted from behind them, startling the little boy.He pouted slightly. "Aunt Alinta, you scared me again."Alinta had insisted on the "Aunt" title. From her perspective, since the child was calling Marisol "Mommy", and she and Marisol were practically sisters, becoming his aunt was only natural.Between her warm, outgoing personality and Marisol's gentle encouragement, it hadn't taken long for Orion to accept her. Now, even when Marisol stepped away briefly, he wouldn't run off with Alinta watching him, which was an enormous relief.Watching the playful chaos unfold between them, though it was mostly Alinta chasing the giggling boy around the house while he pretended to escape, Marisol couldn't help but smile. Her expression grew warm and content. She found herself wishing time could freeze right here in this perfect moment. Then she shook her head, wondering why s

However, the travel restrictions hadn't been lifted yet, and Marisol had received no updates or feedback. She had no idea whether those men had even been caught. It was as if nothing had ever happened. As a chilling possibility dawned on her, Marisol felt her blood run cold. Her anger crystallized into sharp clarity."You're absolutely right about not calling the police. We don't know who might be protecting her, and if we can't land a decisive blow, we'll just tip our hand."It would only expose her position. From all appearances, Nevaeh probably still believed she was oblivious to the whole affair. That meant Marisol was operating from the shadows while Nevaeh remained visible. Now that she was on guard, she held the advantage. After thinking it through, Marisol transferred a million-dollar retainer to her hacker contact and asked him to investigate the entire Sorensen family from top to bottom. She wanted information on everyone, no exceptions. She was convinced that Nevaeh's

A Sorensen family dinner?Picking up the invitation and glancing at it casually, Marisol raised an eyebrow with mild surprise. What new scheme was Nevaeh cooking up now?She and the Sorensens weren't just strangers; they actively despised each other. Now, they were inviting her to a family dinner as if they had good intentions?Still, there was only one way to find out what this was really about. She remembered Amara, whom she'd placed inside the Sorensen household, and pulled out her phone. After switching to the encrypted interface and setting up a virtual number, she sent a message. The response came quickly—several lengthy messages, actually. As Marisol read through each one, her expression grew increasingly cold, and her grip on the phone tightened until her knuckles went white."What's wrong?"Alinta, who was still trying to coax the silent Orion out of his shell, noticed her change in demeanor.Marisol didn't answer immediately. She quickly typed back, seeking confirmati

The truth was, Nevaeh couldn't guarantee anything. Lucian's attitude toward Marisol had become completely unreadable to her. Despite all her assurances to her father, she felt anything but confident. After a moment, something occurred to her. She raised her head slightly, and a sharp glint flashed in her eyes. "Dad, don't worry. I have another plan.""What kind of plan?""30 days is too long," Nevaeh said. "I'll find a way to force Marisol out of the country in the next few days. Once she's abroad, no one will be able to save her."Charles was taken aback. As something dawned on him, his expression shifted slightly. "You're thinking of using... Won't that cause problems?"Nevaeh smiled."Dad, we won't be the ones getting our hands dirty, so why should we care? Nothing will happen to us. I should've thought of this approach from the beginning anyway."Charles began to smile as well.…Amara pressed her ear to the gap outside the study door, straining to catch fragments of the m
