LOGINIt was a Saturday morning in Ashwood. The kids were in school for social activities, men were at their companies, and the stay-at-home wives mostly met up for a cup of coffee.
It was known that most women in Ashwood knew nothing about business. They believed hard work was for the men, while they took care of the homes and flaunted their riches. This was one of the reasons the economy of Lukewood was higher than Ashwood’s. In Lukewood, the number of working men was directly proportional to women, but that wasn’t the case for Ashwood. In a corner of a teahouse, several CEOs’ wives occupied a table sipping their tea, playing mahjong, and gossiping. By the door stood Shelby Orion, Aiden’s aunt and also the daughter-in-law to the Green family. She was a 45-year-old woman but looked nothing like her age—money had such an effect on people. Ever since her brother was killed, and the Martins took over their family home and company, she hardly joined the other women for tea because she knew they simply wanted to gossip. But her husband urged her to stop staying indoors and head out. They won’t gossip in front of you, he said, and she finally decided to join the women for tea. She walked over, her long black hair held in a neat bun and adorned with light jewelry. The women instantly stopped talking once they noticed her presence. Her closest friend in the group, Alice Wystan, stood up and hugged her. “I am so glad you joined us, Shelby.” Shelby nodded and sat next to Alice before she was served her tea without sugar. Alice rubbed her arms and smiled at her. “I heard Lylah has an event coming up soon. Get me tickets, okay?” Alice said, and Shelby chuckled. Her daughter, Lylah, loved poetry and organized a poetry event for her ten thousand followers to attend, selling tickets only to adults. Shelby nodded. “She will be glad to have you there.” After all, Alice was the closest person Lylah had to an aunt. Her poor eighteen-year-old daughter was so heartbroken about her uncle’s tragic death and the fact that the older sister (Luna) she looked up to is now termed a villain. “I read a few poems your daughter wrote, and I must say—they are amazing,” Mrs. Stevenson commented before pushing her mahjong tile. “It’s so sad she chose it as a career, though. I mean… who does poetry for a living?” Mrs. White laughed, then cleared her throat when Alice glared at her. “I mean, it’s fun now but not a promising future.” “Hmm,” Alice chuckled. “How I wish your opinion was valid.” Mrs. White frowned at her before her eyes lit up when she spotted a figure at the entrance—it was the lady who was bent on taking Aliyah’s spot in the community. The lady whose son had taken over the Orion company. Judy Martins stood there, dressed in Selene’s latest designer gown. Her hair was pinned with a diamond clip, and the necklace around her neck screamed nothing but luxury, though some people at the café wondered if it didn’t weigh her neck down. Her cologne made a few cough, but she didn’t mind. She strolled toward the table at the end, occupied by the so-called billionaire’s wives. As she approached, Mrs. White instantly shifted, creating space for her. “Judy Martins, it’s a surprise to have you here,” she said with an excited look—not that she loved or got along with Judy, but she simply hated Alice and Shelby’s guts. Mrs. Stevenson turned to Shelby. “I didn’t invite her,” she felt the need to explain at once. Why would she want to invite the woman who had taken over the Orion home, spending their money like she wasn’t poor months ago? Shelby nodded and sipped her coffee, choosing to ignore Judy for the rest of the time. “In the past, I thought you never invited me for tea because of my status, but now my son owns Nova Therapeutics—so tell me, don’t I deserve to join you all?” Judy asked with a pout before she sat next to Mrs. White and ordered her tea. Alice Wystan laughed. “Own? Did you just say your son owns Nova? Does he have any idea how that company came about?” Judy rolled her eyes, threw her expensive car key on the table, then squinted at Alice. The top families in Ashwood, in order of hierarchy, were the Orions, Wystans, Greens, Stevensons, and Joynes. So Judy always respected Alice and tried to garner favor from her, but Alice preferred being friends with Shelby. Now that her son had taken over the Orion assets, didn’t that make her the most powerful woman at this table? So how dare Alice talk to her in such a way? “It’s not my son’s fault that Paul didn’t even trust any of his relatives enough to hand his assets to. He handed everything to my son because he is a filial person,” Judy bragged. Her tea finally arrived, and she kept throwing glances at Shelby, who obviously didn’t need her family (Orion) money to grow—after all, she was married to the heir of the Green family. “And it’s not our fault that we didn’t find you worth having tea with us,” Mrs. Joyne finally spoke out with a frown. She couldn’t believe how sharp-tongued Judy was. Judy chuckled in disbelief. “I am not worthy? Tell me, Shelby, am I not worthy to have tea with you all?” Everyone’s gaze turned to Shelby, who had kept a calm face all along. She shrugged and sipped her tea. “If she thinks she is worthy, then she is.” That was Shelby’s nonchalant reply. She tilted her head to have a clearer view of Judy. “But if you think you are worthy just because your son is managing my family’s company, then think again.” Judy clenched her fist as the other women kept laughing and completely ignored her. At that moment, Shelby’s phone flashed, signaling a new message. She picked it up and quickly sat up when she realized it was a text from her nephew, who hadn’t written her back in four months. Aiden: I am coming back home, Aunty. Her eyes lit up and she sighed heavily. “Great, now everything will go back in order,” she muttered and smiled at Judy, who had a confused look, wondering what it was Shelby had just read.Sebastian Martins sat in the boardroom, his face calm but his fists clenched tightly under the table. The meeting had dragged on for over an hour, and all the board members seemed to do was blame him. Thankfully, Stefan was still hospitalized—otherwise, things would have spiraled further out of control.“Tell us, Sebastian, should we still trust you with the company?” one of the senior board members, Maurice, asked pointedly.Sebastian’s jaw tightened, but he maintained his composure. It wasn’t his fault the laboratory had exploded, so why were they all pinning the blame on him?“I’ll take care of things. Trust me,” he replied confidently, his tone unwavering. He already had a plan in motion—he just needed time. The board members exchanged wary glances before reluctantly agreeing to trust him. As they filed out of the room, Sebastian remained seated, his expression darkening. First, he’d deal with Aiden and save Nova from going bankrupt. Then, he’d come back for these lazy, backstabbi
The next morning, Luna felt much better and quickly got ready for school. She wore a long skirt and a cropped top, throwing a jacket over her shoulders. Before leaving, she stopped by the guest room and knocked, but there was no response. After a moment, she pushed the door open and glanced inside—the bed was untouched. There was no sign of Aiden. Didn’t he spend the night here?“Miss Rose?” a maid called from the doorway, and Luna turned to face her. “Mrs. Green and her daughter are here to see you.”Luna frowned, checking her phone. It was only 8:00 a.m. Why were they here so early? Didn’t Lylah have school, or had something happened?“Alright,” Luna nodded, then hesitated as the maid started to leave. “Um…did Aiden spend the night here?”“I have no idea, miss. I haven’t seen him this morning.”Luna nodded and headed downstairs. By the dining area sat Shelby and Lylah, both looking her way as she approached. Shelby greeted her with her usual warm smile.“Calla!” Shelby hurried over
Aiden rushed Luna to the residence and had Jaden call the doctor. He placed her gently on the bed, noticing how pale she had become."I shouldn’t have stressed her out," he muttered, smacking his lips. She had clearly said she wasn’t feeling well, but he’d been too obsessed with racing and teasing her to listen. He crouched beside her and clasped her hand. "Can you hear me?" he whispered, but her eyes remained closed. The only thing that kept him calm was the steady sound of her breathing. The door opened and Jaden entered with a doctor, a man in his thirties who quickly set down his medical bag and moved to Luna’s side—only to hesitate as Aiden shot him a murderous glare."Is the rate of female doctors really that low?" Aiden scoffed, not sparing Jaden from his glare. He hated male doctors coming near Luna. The doctor frowned, caught off guard by the question. "Of course not, there are plenty of female doctors.""Then why don’t they come to check on her? Can’t everyone stick to treat
Luna stared at Marco for a moment before turning her gaze to Aiden. She knew he had always been a little clingy and all, but she didn’t expect him to discuss her with his friends. Then again, the first day they met, he’d blurted to his friends that she was going to be his.“The race is about to start, let’s go,” Sam reminded them, flashing his car keys. “Stay right behind me, Aiden. I’ll teach you how to race,” he boasted, looking proud. Aiden just snorted. He stepped closer to Luna and, without warning, swept her off her feet, carrying her princess-style. She gasped in disbelief.“Hey!” she scolded, trying to protest, but he was already walking away from his friends with her in his arms. “Put me down, Aidie!” She kicked her legs and hit his chest, but he wouldn’t budge.“What madness is this, Aidie? Drop me already!”“Calm down, baby. How about you go racing with your man?” he grinned, finally reaching his car and setting her on her feet. His arm remained wrapped around her waist, ma
Luna’s expression hardened. She hated being played with, and she sensed that was exactly what Aiden and Jaden were doing. “You have one more chance, Jaden. Was it really a technical issue?” Her patience was wearing thin, and she hoped he wouldn’t make things worse.Jaden smacked his lips. “From your tone—and the fact that we’re going to meet Aiden this late—I’m guessing you think this was his doing, right? Do you really think that if he had such a plan, he’d let me in on it? I’m just a student at his academy.” Jaden wished Luna would believe him; he truly had no idea Aiden was involved in the explosion.“Think about it. He has Alphonse to do his dirty work. Why would he discuss it with me? I really don’t know anything,” Jaden insisted.Luna pondered for a moment and realized Jaden might be right. It wouldn’t make sense for Aiden to share his plans with him—he must have confided in his assistant.“And, Miss Rose,” Jaden said as he turned the wheel, driving through a lonely alley, “are
It was 10 p.m. when Sebastian drove into the Martins’ home with Sophia. Both looked exhausted and defeated. As they stepped out, Sebastian’s phone rang. The number was unfamiliar. He stared at it for a moment before turning to Sophia.“Go inside first. I’ll take this call.”She nodded and went in. He answered, and from the background noise—bikes roaring past—he could tell the caller was on a highway.“How’s the CEO job so far?” came a familiar voice. Sebastian’s grip on the phone tightened. He recognized the voice instantly—Aiden Orion.“You heard about the explosion at Nova?” Sebastian asked, his tone anxious. He knew Aiden didn’t call for small talk.“Oh, that little explosion?” Aiden laughed, and Sebastian clenched his jaw. He’d been wrong before. This man wasn’t just a psychopath; he was soulless.“Now that you mention it, I remember someone promising to destroy Nova,” Sebastian shot back, his tone filled with rage. If Aiden was responsible for the explosion, Sebastian wouldn’t sp
“Ahh.” Aiden sighed at the memories, staring at Luna’s photo for a few more seconds before slipping his phone away.He couldn’t believe how life had turned out. He met Luna first—confessed first—never expecting his father to go ahead and marry Luna’s mother, making Luna his stepsister.“Brother!” A
Judy parked in front of the Orion mansion, which was now occupied by the Martins. She clenched the steering wheel and slammed her hand against it. She had planned to go have tea with those ladies to show them her place in society, but they didn’t even save her face. They dared to side with Shelby.

It was evening when Aiden walked out of his suite to the front of his institute. There were some men on patrol and the street lights lightened the place."Good evening, boss." Every group of men on patrol who passed by him slightly bowed to greet, and he simply ignored them.He got to his Porsche,
